Hey i recently picked up a dc2 teggy and it came with a short shift kit on it.... something is not right on it because when in gear 1-5 it feels like neutral.... i can wiggle the shifter because of how much play it has in it. also kinda makes quick third shifts tricky too.... any ideas on what that may be? Im sorry but i do not know the brand of shifter used....

Sounds like you need to take it to RevLine and let them look at it/fix it. They have bushings in stock last time I was down there.

do you think it's just the bushings or is there another issue possibly?

I have no idea. Can't diag a car over the internet.

This is the RevLine's area, Not a tech support area. Do you go to McDonalds and aks how to cook a hamburger?

When you call your doctor and say "My head hurts." What does he say? Come in and let me look at you. Same thing here.

If you don't know what is wrong then take the car to them. Let them get it up ont he rack and take a look at it. Lots of things could be wrong. I doubt anyone could tell you 100% for sure.

Some short shifters are junky because of the way they mount to the shift linkages. So you can possibly have a problem there. As Wleach said, it's hard to know what's wrong without seeing it.

If you have time to bring it down, we can diagnose it and go from there.

Ok, if you were replying to me, then I don't see how much nicer I could have worded it. I agreed with Wleach on not being able to know exactly what's wrong unless we see a car. If that's me getting "hot" then I don't know what to tell you.

ill have to disagree.

the ones that are junk are the ones on ebay. my b&m short shifter has lasted me about 5 yrs now.

id recommend the b&m, dc sports, or skunk2 short shifter.

Don't mistake my views for being based on the actual quality or workmanship of various brands -- I just don't like short shifters.

Oh I was about to say "shit, that was me being as nice as I can" So you probably don't want to see my bad side :)

PS. We personally are not fans of short shifters down here. In all of our cars, you will find a stock shifter.

Dunno, we've had numerous 10 second cars without them so we got used to the stock ones. We feel there really isn't a need for it. Rather have the customer spend $ on parts that do make a difference.

I agree with this statement 100%.

I also feel they're somewhat worthless. Any reduction in shifter throw is achieved by a reduction in leverage to work the change lever assembly in the transmission. If you find yourself in a case where you are literally 'locked out of a gear' until the synchros work, a short shifter limits how much force you can apply to the synchro sleeves via the shifter forks -- in essence, you don't have the ability to work the synchros as hard as you did with a stock shifter. It's simple physics. I know many high horsepower builds find themselves battling the tranny to enter a gear from time to time, and the last thing you want is to have less leverage. I'd rather bend a shifter fork or wear out the synchros in a serious build than have a trivial percentage of shifter throw removed. Not being able to enter a gear is a lot slower of a shift than one that was an inch longer in total shifter knob travel.

well you guys make it sound easy to understand!! thumbs up for the imput  and thanks for the opinions! You guys really know your stuff! I'll take that into consideration with fixing my issue... i guess i just like the way that short shifters look, but yanno performance isn't always pretty lol.
Thanks agin for the imput! Top noch

They can be if they stress out the transmission interlock because their geometry isn't perfect. Hell, on my cable driven shifter setup on my rsx, I can do that on the stock shifter too ;) Guess it comes down to if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Ya, not many people around here road race hondas though.

I remembered when I saw that shifter released for the first time and all the damn ricers kept thinking it was a short shifter.

I guess they couldn't understand the picture.

Oh, it was designed for road race applications. Where you want to keep both hands on the steering wheel. It gives the driver much less "space" between the steering wheel and the shifter.

I think they called it the RR shifter.

I figured it had something to do with relation to the wheel height.
