cd player in 2004 silverado

i just bought an 04 chevy silverado and i want to install an aftermarket cd player. so my question is to do this will i need to get the chime box. i go a connector harness but the cd player didnt turn on when i hooked it up just made an eject noise.

on the 03-06 silverados. the radios are turned on by a data signal from the bcm.. you can buy the expensive harness if you desire but not needed to make the radio work unless its a bose system. if its not the bose system simply hook the red wire from the radio to the orange ign harness wire. the orange ign harness is the "acc" wire and will turn the radio on when you start the truck.

you will also lose all of your warning chimes while doing this.
