View Full Version : So, after much thought, I think I'm selling the 50L

I don't know, call me stupid, but I want something else. >.< I've really fallen in love with wide angles and portraiture. I was thinking something along the lines of a 24-70L. With shooting OCF I never shoot at f/1.2, let a lone f/2.8. I've thought about the 35mm f/1.4L, but my 35mm f/2 is just chugging along.
Or, I've thought seriously about buying a 85mm f/1.8 and a 135mm f/2L. I could probably get both for 'round what I sell my 50L for. So having the 35mm, 85mm, 135mm, in my bag wouldn't be a bad combo. Maybe pick up a cheaper 50mm down the road.
Thoughts?

Interesting statement. Oh no. I have both of those lenses. Maybe we should make a trade. (I don't know if I could do it though.)
Will you miss the 50mm focal length? I think the 24-70 would be a good option. I use my 24-105 a lot when shooting with strobes. It's a very versatile lens, and I think my copy is extremely sharp.
I think the 35-85-135 combo would be pretty good for portraits. I would personally want something a little wider though. 24-105 not fast enough?

I think I will miss the 50mm focal length, but at this point I am missing the longer zoom lengths as well. That is why the 135mm is just so appealing. The image quality coming out of that lens is just second to none. I think I would like to give it a try. I mean, I could always sell it and get my money back out of it.
I've thought about the 24-105mm, but the only thing is, sometimes I do like to shoot all naturally with just natty light. Or maybe for some inside shots too with family or something and I'm not sure how well the f/4 aperture would work. The IS would be nice. But in the end, I really want to give that 135 a try. >.< lol

Well, just forget about the 135L. That lens is horrible! Just trade me your 50L for my 35L :)

You know how tempted I am to do that. >.<

I've got the 85 1.8 I'm looking to get rid of...
How much cash would you want on top?
