We are painting our cabinets and I need some ideas. The cabinets are currently painted white, well, they're more of an off white now...but never the less...
Appliances are all SS/black, the hardware is chrome and the walls are half white/half multi-colored mosaic the countertops are Black/gray formica, the floors are black tile. None of that is changing, just the cabinets.
The wife doesn't like change, so she's voted for repainting them white. I'm thinking more of a satin/semi gloss black. I would prefer to stay away from black and white cabinets. The kitchen could use a full makeover, but this isn't the year for that. :)
Any good ideas out there?

stripping the cabinets back to wood is not an option...they're barely paint grade cabinets.

Holy hell thats a wild paint scheme.
Black would probably look alright but it might be too dark. I think white if your best best unless you can find some neutral grey that doesnt look to bland.

I also think white is the best choice. black will make the room too dark. Pick some nice hardware and that should transform your cabinets quite a bit.
Edit: I just wanted to add that I really like your kitchen btw. I love the gray countertop with the black tile. Nice paint too, it's different for sure lol.

I actually think it would look better without the mirrors along the top of the cabinets as well. Seems kind of dated with them up, IMO.

I know...15 years ago when I built the house, they seemed like a good idea.
I think it is unique and if you like it then I'd keep it, I can see if you were trying to sell the house to mute/tone it down. I think my wife had this thought over the past couple weeks since I have been repainting bathrooms and other misc. things.

I'm not planning on selling anytime in the foreseeable future. The mosaic stays for awhile longer until we decide for a complete makeover. :)

I think a very light grey color would accentuate both the counter tops & stainless fridge.

Whatever you decide see if you can find someone to Photoshop the color in the above pic to give you and your wife a visual idea to go off of. I did this in my basement and luckily saved myself the trouble of making a poor color choice for the room. Best of luck!

Looks a lot better than it did before. I wish I would of seen this before. I would of recommened painting the walls a deep red/ mahogany type color. And taking the cabinet color, keep the white and antiquing the hell out of them. By that I mean, take a deep stain, brush the stain on let it sit for a little bit then wipe it off. Leaves a great finish, I have done it several times in kitchens with dark counter tops and SS appliances. Always turned out great.

Looks good, but makes the kitchen look VERY dark. Need to find a way to brighten it up a little bit for it not to be so overwhelming

look nice, but you need to address those walls... are you and your wife 10 years old? :)

You should do some sort of splash guard, too. Would look great.
