I have a 99 honda prelude and I am looking to rebuild the engine. I was wondering how much it would cost to put top of the line internals into it but also I want to run low compression and purchase a turbo kit for it at the same time. My goal is to have a 300hp street car. Please let me know what you guys can do. The sky is the limit as far as money is concerned I Just want the best of the best and it to be a reliable daily but also fun for the weekends. Thanks!!

We can build a H22 setup for you. With building one, you'd have to sleeve the engine due to it having FRM coated sleeves. We actually have a core H22 engine that may be a good usable core. If you are interested in having this done and live in the KC area, swing on down by the shop and we'll run you through some options :)
Some basic prices for our short block builds are:
3000 will include sleeving the block
CP forged pistons
Eagle Rods
ACL bearings
new oil pump
new water pump
all new gaskets in the bottom end
bored/honed/
micropolish the crank.
With the bottom end built, you can just bolt the head on and be ready to go again.

I am not looking at doing it right now, I was looking at mid summer to get it done. I was just wanting to price it out. I would rather use my block just because I know how it was ran before and it would eliminate any worrys on my part. I am saving for a race head for it right now so by about july I would assume Ill be looking at getting the build done. Whats your guys' turn around on these type of things? If I build it do you think with the right turbo and intercooler set up I could hit 300hp? Let me know thats for the prompt response.

Sounds good. H22a4 engine are open deck where the older H22s were closed deck. Both will work fine but it's quicker/faster to sleeve a closed deck block :)
And for a 300 whp setup, this will hold it fine and have plenty more as long as you have the proper turbo/engine management for it. We have a customer with a simple t3/t4 57 trim garrett turbo on the same setup I mentioned to you. Stock H22 head that put down 307 on 10 pounds of boost.
Throttle response was really good spooling up the t3/t4 with the bigger displacement engine also.

I know hardly anything about hondas but I just want like a 300 hp street honda probably wont see drag much unless down the road I decide to change my mind about what I wanna do with it but I know h22s are pretty good engines and just wanted to see if 300hp was a realistic dream.
How much is a good turbo set up normally run? I would like a decent size turbo not no pussy ass little thing.

Also I got some other add ons that I was wondering if you wouldnt mind installing when you had everything else out. So far I have the following and will probably get more along the next few months
Skunk 2 cams
Skunk 2 intake
Ported Type S throttle Body
AEM adjustable cam gears
H22 Port and Polished race head
Do you think these will work well together as a set up or should I sell something and go with something different

I clicked on and missed the thread.
Yes, those parts can be installed, but I'd recommend going with stock cam gears. And also depending on what cams you are throwing in, stock may be better also.

Im sure they can make you a 300hp street car without turbo it.
and here are some pics of what happens when you put forged pistons in a stock h22 block and rev it to 9 grand :lol2:

What??? Why would you want a strung out NA setup making 300 whp when you can build a setup that will hold much more and detune it for less power?
Also, why would you put forged pistons in a FRM coated sleeve motor ? That's proven not to work and that's why there's all that "black death" on the sleeves.
