View Full Version : C6 Zo6, 4L80 Swap, Motor, Boost.....
So the tear down process has just begun here at the HOB. For what will make for a killer street car, and fun weekend track toy. Drive to the track with the A/C on.... make some hits, and be home in time for dinner. I'll keep updating this first post as the progress continues.
Pretty standard issue stuff these days. (Well if your on the Corvette Forum)
- 4L80E Conversion, by the fine gentlemen at RPM Transmissions.
- HOB LS7 "Boost" Rods and Pistons Package for the motor
- HOB F/I Cam, and supporting springs/pushrods/etc.
- HOB Fuel System (More on this later)
- ProCharger F1C (Set on Kill)
Tear Down Begins

Looks sweet man!! But you must have 100% confidence in your car/owners, cause if one of those rods end up on the starting line someday...that can't be good for business!

1000hp engines dont last forever.
What are the octane/hp goals for this car? Alky inj? E-85?

looks like this may be an 06/07/08...not an 09. If you are planning to have it as a "track toy", I would replace the dry sump FOR SURE, before you put it on the track...oil starvation is a biaaatch...and will ruin that pretty motor. Get one from LG or ADA or one out of an 09.
I'm keeping an eye on this for sure. I have a feeling this thing is going to FLY.

Owner, plans on driving it as a toy and at the drag track only.
Autos and Stalls = Low ETS. It takes a lot of driver to get a 6 speed to haul.

If this rod ends up on the ground, there are bigger problems. Motor won't be turning anymore then standard RPM, and it will support the power with no issues. The reason for having our name on all the motor parts these days is two fold. 1) Customers dig it 2) We had someone selling motors saying they were built by HOB, when they weren't. Now if it doesn't have our logo, it didn't come from here, Period.

We have been waiting for the tranny to show up, since the car arrived. Once the tranny showed up (couple days ago) it was time to tear her down. :)

This is the first I heard of this for a Drag Only Car, I heard of it with Road Racing cars.
I have also seen a lot of stuff where people were running the cars low on oil because of the amount they ingest.
Please point me to some threads, for issues with drag racing cars with issues. That would be greatly appreciated. I know we have done plenty of Z06's with various mods, and haven't had any come apart. But new news is always good news, Id rather fix the issue now, then later.

Its more fun to drive around with the tunes bumping as hard as the a/c is blowing and saying you have the fastest C6Z  It'll be interesting to watch if this one has what it takes to get that done.

grab one of those super cool-looking HOB connecting rods and beat the owner of that car with it repeatedly until they agree to remove the windshield sticker.

and terribly frustrating. While I'd never add an auto to a Z06 and can see why the owner is doing this plus the GM autos are pretty nice and responsive.

When I hear "track" I automatically assume road racing...sorry...I am clueless when it comes to drag. Sorry - carry on :D

I did fail to mention that we had already gotten the Katech, upgraded oil pump.
But yes, no road racing for this car. Street and 1/4 only :)
