I have a 02 Lightning that has a CIA and Aftermarket exhaust...
I am about to throw a 4lb lower pulley on... Will I need a tune after I do this? Or will the trucks computer be able to adjust a/f ratio for that? (I've read that you only need a tune for a 6#+ pulley, But I am not sure about having both a CIA and 4# Pulley)... I know after I add more mods, I will definitely need a tune.

Btw if I was to get a tune what all do I need? Can you flash the trucks computer? Or do I need a chip and/or a hand-held tuner to bring in with the truck? I've already saw rates are $125 HR...

Here is my dyno with only the CIA and exhaust.... How much will the A/F ratio be effected after I add a 4# pulley, and will it operate safely with out a tune.

Thanks.

These trucks run lean with just an upper pulley..... whether you need it or not, I would suggest it just for the fact that your truck will run much better when custom tuned to your mods. I've only got an upper pulley and a Magnaflow on mine and its a TAD on the lean side on the dyno. I have a Cold Air Kit for it goin ported blower and 6# lower.... I'm a BIG believer in custom tuning. Plus it will help save your motor (esp until spring fully gets here)..... and most tuners, and I'm pretty sure SuperTune is the same way, use the SCT Xcalibrator to load tunes, so you will have to buy the handheld runer if you want to be able to switch between tunes or datalog (street tune, race tune, valet tune, etc.) Just my $.02 though.

Domino69- We use the SCT X 3 programmer and sell it in a package with tune for $550. Just like lifted94 said you should always tune for the mods you have. Without a tune you will lean the truck out, it will be very prone to detonation with added boost and leaner A/F. Another big benefit to the tune is I will set up a much better shift schedule for the truck. Give me a call if you would like to schedule a time to bring the truck up. Thanks. Ryan 913-814-7243
