POLL: Do You Like the Movie Version of Mjolnir?

I personally don't really care for the way his hammer looks, ever. It seems too plain jane. But for all the thor fans out there it looks like they translated it well from the page to the screen.
It is really close to the comic and not out there

"Thor" on Thor!
Chris Hemsworth on his next movie, Thor.
Superherohype has an exclusive interview. here are some of the excerpts
SuperHeroHype: After the big build-up in "Iron Man 2," are you totally pumped for Thor to hit theaters next year?
Chris Hemsworth: Absolutely! I just finished shooting last Thursday, and saw "Iron Man 2" the other day--which I loved--and saw the tag at the end. I was with a bunch of mates and we all got kind of giddy watching it. I can’t wait! It was such an incredible four months shooting that film, and I think the film’s going to be fantastic.
SHH: We’ve finally seen you in the costume. How did it feel to have the Thor costume on – the very first time, and for four months?
Hemsworth: [Laugh] Yeah, right! Okay, exactly – I put the thing on and said "It’s not very comfortable, but it looks amazing, so it’s all good." And then a couple of weeks in, I thought "It’s getting more and more uncomfortable," and at the end of three, four months it was a pretty difficult thing to wake up and put on every morning. But it’s sells such an image in the picture. It does a lot of the work for you.
Even More From Chris Hemsworth on Thor!
In this video interview from About.com, Chris Hemsworth shares more on the task of playing Thor, the costume, living up to the hype, and being set. Check it Out!
The costume looks amazing. How did it look when you first tried it on? What did you think?
Chris Hemsworth: "Oh, it was crazy. I remember the first camera test and putting it on and going, 'Oh my god,' and then everyone who came and looked at it was like, 'Wow, this is a monumental sort of moment.' And standing in it was a very odd experience, you know? But it was beautiful. I mean, Alex Byrne designed the costume and they spent I think almost two years kind of leading up and building that thing and setting it up. It really paid off. The thing is incredible. It's not very comfortable, but…"
How can you move in that?
Chris Hemsworth: "You can't, really. We broke a lot of them. It's pretty restrictive. But it it's such a picture. Anthony Hopkins said to me in the camera test, we were both looking at each other's costumes and he said, 'God, there's no acting required here, is there?' And I thought, 'Absolutely.'"
Being cast as Thor, that's a huge weight on your shoulders. There are so many people expecting a lot out of you. How do you handle that?
Chris Hemsworth: "You know, I just finished – I wrapped on last Thursday – and I've been involved in that for eight, nine months, actually longer since I found out about it and the lead up, and the whole time it felt like I was kind of treading water to keep my head above water and not think about it. And then now I'm sort of sinking under, going, 'Wow, what a crazy experience.' But there was such a support group in that film. A lot of the producers have written comic books, written Thor comics. You've got Kenneth Branagh who's just a genius. And then Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Stellan Skarsgard…it's just an exceptional cast."
I was talking to Ray Stevenson and the word he kept saying over and over again was 'epic'. Does that describe what it was like on the set?
Chris Hemsworth: "Yeah, incredibly epic. That's funny. I kept saying epic when I came onto the film and they were all giving me digs about it."
Is there any particular scene that you're really looking forward to fans being able to see?
Chris Hemsworth: "Oh god, I mean the whole thing. The action sequences in this, Andy Armstrong and Vic Armstrong – the geniuses who have been doing stunts in this business for 20 or 30 years – did the stunts on this, and I've never seen anything like what they set up and all the stunt guys what they put together, wire gags but then also real hand-to-hand sort of combat. I mean incredible sets. Bo Welch built these sets and we hardly used any green screen. There were these big recreations of Asgard, this sort of sci-fi, Viking mixture."
So when you walk on a set like that, you actually feel like you're in…
Chris Hemsworth: "Oh, absolutely. The combination of the costumes and the sets it was like literally the work was done for you in a lot of ways, you know? It was sort of about less, less."
And are you ready for The Avengers?
Chris Hemsworth: "Look, I just sat down with the Marvel guys and Joss Whedon recently and talked about it. It starts next January, I think, or February, around that time we start shooting. And I think it's going to be a hell of a ride. When you bring in Iron Man and Captain America and whoever else they wrangle from the Marvel universe, it's going to be a hell of a film."
Are you going to stay in shape in between the films?
Chris Hemsworth: "Yeah, yeah. I'm not going to eat too much pizza and let myself go too much. A couple of weeks and then I'll sweat it off and get back into it."
I have to ask this as being a non-Thor person, am I going to understand the movie?
Chris Hemsworth: "Yeah, absolutely. Yeah. I mean none of us were… You know, I didn't grow up reading comic books and neither did Kenneth Branagh. So what we worked on was, yeah, we pay all the respect due to where its origin is, but also create a film about real people, real characters, and relationships between fathers and sons – Odin and Loki and Thor and the turmoil that exists there and what have you. That was what it always came down to. It simplified it. Yes, we have this amazing backdrop and the world of comics, but it was about people."
My camera person would kill me if I didn't ask you – the hammer, what's it like?
Chris Hemsworth: "It's incredible. I tried to steal it but they wouldn't let me. It's a beautiful piece of design, equipment, whatever… What would you call it? Weapon. No, it's incredible. It looks just like what they have in the comics with the engravings from Asgard."
EXCLUSIVE: Official Thor Movie Logo Possibly Revealed

A reliable source has just sent me what appears to be the logo for Marvel Studios' highly anticipated comic adaptation Thor, follow the jump to check it out...
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/11189L.jpg
Just like the teaser says, I received this image today from a source who has been consistently reliable in providing valid updates on Marvelhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18667#) Studios projects. It appears to be the logo for the Thor movie (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18667#), starring Chris Hemsworth and Anthony Hopkins, which is due out in theaters (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18667#) May 6th, 2011:
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/11774L.jpg
The design for this logo has a heavy spacial influence, as opposed to the Nordic style (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18667#) lettering usually associated with Thor comics. But what really caught my eye was the resemblance of the lettering's texture to the texture of Thor's Uru-metal hammer, Mjolnir, which was seen at the end of Iron Man 2. (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=17984)
Hopefully someone at Marvel Studioshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18667#) can either confirm or deny the validity of this image, and eager fans won't have to wait until San Diego Comic Conhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18667#) this July for an answer.

Some impressive full views of Chris Hemsworth while holding Mjolnir!
New concept art has been leaked for Thor. These look like they came from the same source as the Cap images, which interestingly enough, were also released today. JoBlo.com has said the Captain Americahttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/TheDogPound/news/?a=18736#) art is official. Marvelhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/TheDogPound/news/?a=18736#) has not confirmed anything at this point.

Chris Hemsworth Talks About Wielding Mjolnir In Thor

The Aussie actor talks briefly about picking up the mighty hammer of [URL="http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/"]Thor (http://media.fastclick.net/w/click.here?sid=23709&m=6&c=1) and the fighting style that we will be seeing him use when he wields it in battle...
In this months edition of Empire the man who will be Thor, 26 year old Australian actor Chris Hemsworth, reveals the fighting style (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=18811#) he used when "hammer fighting" in Kenneth Branagh'shttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=18811#) highly anticipated CBM..
"I'm an old hand with a hammer. I worked as a builder for a couple of years in Australia. But the hammer fighting is cool. We experimented with different styles, but none of them really worked. In the end, we developed our own style actually built around boxing. You know how Mike Tyson moves? Stance low to the ground, with big powerful hip movements."
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/8073/mjonir.jpg
Mike Tysonhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=18811#) eh! Lets hope Thor doesn't take to biting his opponents ears off. But that does sound quite cool when you think about it, I just hope that along with the hammer hip fighting, we will see him throw Mjolnir about a bit too!

One of the crew members for Marvel's THOR managed to snap a few pics of the Galisteo, NM set where the production crew built a mock city specifically for the shoot.

As was reported several times before, principal photography for Marvelhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18822#) Studios' THOR was split between studio time in Manhattan (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18822#) Beach, California, and Galisteo, New Mexico; in which an entire city was built solely for the production. Back in early May, when filming for THOR was in full swing, one of the Paramount Pictures crew members took several pictures while on the movie's (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18822#) set. Though these images don't reveal too much, one does give us a decent glimpse of the mock city that was constructed:

It's not too surprising that the city closely resembles the town in Oklahoma which has been recently featured in J. Michael Straczynski latest run of Thor comics:

Hopefully, with Iron Man 2 already released in theaters, Marvel Studios will surely begin showcasing more official artwork and images for THOR leading up to the big reveal at this year's Comic Con Internationalhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=18822#) in San Diego, CA.

Thanks to Entertainment Tonight & a few forum users, we have our first "blurry" look at actress Jaimie Alexander donning her 'Sif' attire for Marvel's next much anticipated movie, THOR. Check it Out!

While catching our first glimpse of the much anticipated Norse fantasy film (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=19053#) in action earlier this week,(via Entertainment Tonight (http://www.etonline.com/video-224.php?slate=/media/video/2010/06/157861/et_thor_100602_large.jpg&vid=87857&config=http://www.etonline.com/media/video/2010/06/87857/index.php&sitesection=etonlinemain&videoasset=87857-et_thor_100602&title=Thor%2006/02/2010)), numerous forum users including 'Thor337', 'Sabetoonth', and 'claybo4131' have posted some shots of actress Jaimie Alexander in action as Lady Sif, from ET's next video.

DCMF: These shots are obviously from Entertainment Tonight'shttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=19053#) extended "Thor" set visit. So it seems the folks at ET are unveiling their long set visit in parts weekly, similar to they way they did with their set visit for Marvel'shttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/2_bing.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=19053#) recent box office hit "Iron Man 2".
With this we can expect an another video coverage from ET very soon. In the meantime what do you think of Sif's attire. In my opinion I wish they would have showed more skin (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=19053#), similar to the variety of designs from the comics.

http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/banners%20and%20stiff.jpg
About 3 months ago, before the first footage, the costume concept renderings, and the first official image, all we had were rumors, and One particular overlooked description of the costume (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=16372) that would soon be donned by Chris Hemsworth as the son of Odin, for Marvel’s much anticipated “THOR” movie (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=19258#).
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/warioirs%203%20ocmbined.jpg
The source, user ‘IndustryKiller’ from AICN, included in the rundown that Thor was “complete with cape, chain mail arms, and the circles going down the front of the torso”. Now having official material released, that description is clearly spot on. ‘IndustryKiller' sources his matrial by saying, "When you live in LA (stuff) just floats around. You have friends working on this or that or whatever. You don't have to be a mover and shaker to see stuff".
Well ‘IndustryKiller’, seemed very amenable in sharing everything (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=19258#) he saw, with the other members of the site. With this too being overlooked, for three months. IndustryKiller gave somewhat of a description of the supporting actors in costume as Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg, together the "Warriors Three".
On Joshua Dallas in costume as Fandral "the Dashing", ‘IndustryKiller’ says...
Fandral was dressed straight up Errol FLynn. A dark greenish blue, if I recall correctly, but it's some kind of blue hue color scheme. (Like Thor) he also has a cape and long sleeves. His hair is blonde like the comic and he also has the classic swashbuckler facial hair.
On Tadanobu Asano in costume as Hogun "the Grim"
Hogun (was) straight up Mongol, a dark blue (color scheme), whose armor has an almost samurai hint to it but there are no hanging cloths or leather like the comic. I didn't see a mongul helmet either as he had pulled back kind of samurai looking hair, nor does he have facial hair.
On Ray Stevenson in costume as Volstagg "the Valiant"
Volstagg, is a taller Ray Stevenson complete with fake fat suit and long ginger hair and beard, he looks pretty awesome. His suit is a maroonish red and it looks a little more like armor than the other two.
Additionally, 'IndustryKiller' includes that "The costumes are fairly complex and detailed. (They're) a little less traditional to their individual backgrounds than the comic. The motif of (all the Asgardian) suits aren't going for any kind of ACTUAL viking realism but is very skewed into the realm of the comic book world it represents, almost sort of futuristic with an old world Norse flair. They are fairly over the top compared to say, the "realism" of the X-Men wearing leather jumpsuits. Then again, I guess I'm just a comic book fan like that. (Overall) They are as accurate a representation of the source material as we were ever going to get."
Thor & Captain America to Go 3-D; New Thor Still Features Thor, Odin and Loki
Thor will be first Marvel movie to go 3-D, followed by Captain America; new still image depicts Thor, Odin and Loki in all of their armored glory!

Director Kenneth Branagh told the L.A. Times that he was initially hesitant to go 3-D on Thor because he felt it was all "math and physics" and way over his head, but he warmed to the idea:
"We came to feel that in our case 3-D could be the very good friend of story and character for a different kind of experience.
"It's another draft of the story that can reveal itself in a different way," he said. "I had a healthy degree of skepticism up front ... I've become somebody extremely excited about working with possibilities of doing it this way.
"A pretty careful conversation is what we've been having for quite some time about what we know has to be the most sensible decision: Is it led by story? Can this offer a different type of experience and exploit what we have in the story? It absolutely can ... we travel very long distances in the movie and the opportunity to export and exploit the journey of the hero is really offered up as a great potential enhancement here."
Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, Rene Russo, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
Thor opens May 6, 2011!
-----
For his part, The First Avenger: Captain America director Joe Johnston said that he still has his doubts about 3-D, though he now considers it "a new challenge" and "exciting":
"I think [3-D] tends to be overused and can be a little bit gimmicky. A lot of people are using 3-D now because they feel have they have to ... that will come and go and the pictures that deserve to be in 3-D will continue to be. When it's done bad, it can make you carsick."
The First Avenger: Captain America stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Hayley Atwell, Dominic Cooper, Neal McDonough and Hugo Weaving.

Kenneth Branagh Briefly Talks THOR's Suit & Mighty Hammer
In Entertainment Weekly's latest issue, director of Marvel's THOR (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/), Kenneth Branagh, talks a bit about the hammer of the God Of Thunder. Check it Out!

Covered by the first look at Warner Broshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20155#). "Green Lantern", and in addition to the Scanned photo (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/news/?a=20102), featuring Thor (Chris Hemsworth) & Odin (Anthony Hopkins), in the latest Entertainment Weekly issue Kenneth Brangh, the man who'll bring the God of Thunder to the big screen next summer, talks briefly about Mjolnir, Thor's mighty hammer, and complications with the suit.
And thanks to CBM contributor "Claybo4131", you can check out what was said below.
"The look of the hammer was the first conversation I had the day I started the job" director Kenneth Branagh said. "We had conversations about how the Hammer looked the night before shooting, during shooting, the look of the hammer and how to shoot it. We're still talking about the hammer."
The hammer by the way was the least of Chris Hemsworths worries with Branagh saying "Thor's suit was bloody hot for the first week they didn't have a cooling system in it. They had to add a t-shirt with water tubes sticking out." May look silly, but are you going to say anything to the guy holding a big hammer?
Including Kenneth Branagh and the main THOR cast, Marvel Studioshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20155#) will be delivering a panel just for the God of Thunder at the San Diego Comic-Con on the coming Saturday, July 24. And they are expected to reveal more info on the film, plus footage/trailer/clip from the highly anticipated movie.
In addition to this brief talk, EW provided a slightly updated synopsis.
Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth

The caption below the image is this: Thor kneels before Odin (Hopkins) as Loki (Hiddleston), left, Frigga (Rene Russo), Hogun (Tadanobu Asano) and Fandral (Josh Dallas) stand on the steps.
The LA Timeshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20220#) recently talked to Kenneth Branagh, director of the highly anticipated THOR, not long ago and he was genuinely excited about his first trip to Comic-Con and the chance to stand up into front of the Hall H audience as part of the Marvel program.
"Because of what I've heard, I can't wait... the celebration and the incredible energy and enthusiasm and knowledge and passion for everything that goes on there. I'm excited to be part of that and I feel privileged to be able to go and take look. I'm keen to see that passion and enthusiasm."
With tongue-in-cheek -- at least I think it was tongue-in-cheek -- Feige said he might hit the stage with a sartorial nod to the Con's cosplay traditions. "I'm looking forward to seeing how people are dressed... Kevin and I are not prepared to reveal what costume we'll be wearing but obviously I've insisted that we all must wear one."
Included in the LA Times article is a higher quality, toned, version of the photo revealed yesterday of Thor(Chris Hemsworth) kneeling before Odin (Anthony Hopkins) on the throne, plus Frigga(Rene Russo), Loki(Tom Hiddleston), Hogun(Tadanobu Asano), Fandral(Joshua Dallas), and behind him the big maroon foot of Volstagg(Ray Stevenson).

Many instantly assumed that this scene involved Thor's banishment to our world. But according to AICN blogger "IndustryKiller!", who is the same source that provided costume descriptions for Thor & Loki (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=16372), plus the Warriors Three (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=19258) ahead of time. (And by looking at this new image, hes pretty accurate.) "IndustryKiller!" says...
It's Thor's coronation, not banishment...and it's interrupted by some very cold visitors. When asked if it were cold-blooded Frost Giants, "IndustryKiller!'s simple response: ;)... meaning hes Happily winking.
I bet you can guess who could be responsible for this "interruption" of Thor's crowning...hmm. Anyhow in just five days Marvel Studioshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20220#) will be presenting tons of info, images, and footage involving THOR and Captain America, at this year's San Diego Comic-Convention.

If only Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor could be animated in a painted style like these two posters featuring concept art from Ryan Meinerding (Cap) and Charlie Wren (Thor). As if to combat the tepid response to stills (http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/07/19/high-res-hall-of-asgard-photo-shows-detail-of-loki-and-warriors-three/) from Thor and arguments that erupted over the polished Captain America concept art (http://www.slashfilm.com/2010/06/02/first-look-chris-evans-as-captain-america-concept-images/), Marvel has released two Comic Con teaser posters via Yahoo (http://movies.yahoo.com/photos/movie-stills/gallery/2755/2010-comiccon-reveals#photo0). These images are great — both are energetic and present iconic visions of each character. (Although: is that a gun in Cap’s hand?) If either film can capture moving images that accurately reflect the spirit and dynamism seen here, both projects will be in good shape. See both after the break.

Chris Hemsworth Bulks Up Big-Time for Thor

God of thunder? More like god of biceps.
Marvel has released a new shot of Chris Hemsworth as the titular character in its upcoming Thor (http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b160843_thor_steals_spidey_4s_thunderand.html), and saying the former George Kirk has seriously beefed up is a big understatement.
There'd been some doubt as to whether Hemsworth would be able to pull of the part. And the mysterious, shadowy shots we'd seen (http://www.eonline.com/photos/gallery.jsp?galleryUUID=530#74078) up to now only fueled that speculation.
We're guessing these shots will put that debate to rest. We're also wondering if Miley Cyrus (http://ca.eonline.com/uberblog/celebs/c114834_Miley_Cyrus.html) is going to suggest to BF Liam Hemsworth, Chris' brother, that they spend more time with his older sibling.
What do you think of Chris' new physique? Have a new interest in Norse mythology?
Check out other superhero looks in our Superhero Fashion Police gallery (http://www.eonline.com/photos/gallery.jsp?galleryUUID=2321).

Thor Comic Con Panel Highlights!
Here are all the best bits of the Comic Con panel including a detailed description of the footage shown...
The Thor section of the panel has literally just finished in San Diego, and once again our friends at Newsarama have provided us with some great detailed info about what the director (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=20559#) and cast had to say as well as what exactly was shown in the footage from the upcoming moviehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=20559#)!

Branagh thanks the crowd for welcoming him to Comic Con, saying he's a comic-con virgin. He says he wasn't much of a comic book nerd growing up, but he loved Thor above all others.
Hemsworth says getting to figure out how to use Mjolnir was a challenge, because the hammer is such a character in the film. He talked about learning how to hold it, and how he would use it to hit people, and swing it around.
Portman talks about playing Jane Foster, a character who hasn't always been well defined in the comics. "I was really looking forward to play such a beloved character," she said, adding that "it was really exciting to play a scientist onscreen."
Denning is playing a character named Darcy, a protege of Jane Foster, "who doesn't really know anything."
Tom Hiddleston says playing the God of Mischief, Loki, was enjoyable and complex.
Gregg says the scene in IM2 where he finds Mjolnir in the desert, he was clueless about what was going on with it and asked Feige about it. He says feige was shocked. "No one told you? It's for THOR!"
3D footage shows Thor and Odin have a strained relationship, and the All-Father casts out his son to earth, hoping he learns to become worthy of his name, powers, and title. Sweeping shots of the Golden REalm of Asgard are shown, the Asgardians in battle gear, including Thor.
Thor is seen being interrogated by Gregg's S.H.I.E.L.D agent, about who he is, and where he comes from, and where he learned his fighting techniques.
At one point, Thor tells Portman, who found him in the desert after Odin banished him.. he tells her about his past and his powers...."your ancestors called it magic. You call it science. In my land, its one and the same."
In response to an audience question, Branagh says don't assume Don Blake won't be part of THOR in some fashion. He enjoys taking parts of the comic's history and interlocking them in surprising ways.
SDCC '10: The Destroyer Of THOR Finally Displayed
Today fans at Comic-Con learned the answer of what exactly as to was behind the those golden doors of Odin's throne. And now we know officially that it's the Destroyer armor, which is the same one used in the upcoming THOR (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/) Movie. Check it Out!

SDCC '10: Natalie Portman & Kat Dennings Talk THOR, And Their Characters
Co-Stars of Marvel's epic tale of THOR (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/), Natalie Portman & Kat Dennings speak with Collider on what their characters bring to the film. Check it Out!
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/cbmthorhead.png
Following Marvel Studios'http://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20613#) big Captain America, THOR, and AVENGERS panels at this year's San Diegohttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20613#) Comic-Con, the cast of THOR took time to share details on their roles in the much anticipated film (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20613#), during roundtables with the press.
THOR co-stars Natalie Portman, who plays scientist "Jane Foster", and Kat Denningshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20613#), who plays Portman's protege "Darcy Lewis", both sat down with Collider in a roundtable interview. Going into details on what their characters bring to film, read their interview below.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/Natalie%20P%20and%20Kat%20D.png
Collider: So, were you both big Thor afficionados before this?
Kat: I had read my brother’s comics.
Natalie: I knew nothing, but quickly got up to speed.
What have these roles demanded from you guys, physically?
Kat: I pretty much just had to sit there and eat chips and be cool.
Natalie: I had some running, but mainly the serious action is left to Thor and the Warriors Three.
In a lot of movies like this, the girl is there and she’s just a love interest who’s surrounded by men. Was it nice to have each other there to bring some female energy?
Natalie: Absolutely. It was great to be able to highlight a female friendship and female comradery and shared scientific passion among women. And then, there’s also this great character that Jaimie Alexander plays, called Sif, and we got to work with her, too.
Kat: She kicks some ass.
Natalie: She’s super-tough.
Kat: She’s really inspiring.
Natalie: So, we had a good female power on the film.
Natalie, it seems like your character is really driven by something that comes from finding Thor. What is your character after in this film, and what does meeting Thor does for her?
Natalie: My character is working on this theory of connecting dimensions. There was an Einstein theory, a long time ago, where you could connect dimensions through the warping of time and space. Thor obviously comes from another dimension, so he is this missing piece to her scientific inquiry. Everyone thinks she’s on the fringe of science and that she’s this kook, so this is her opportunity to prove herself.
Kat, what was it like to go from Defendor, which takes apart the superhero movie, to making a real superhero movie with Thor?
Kat: They’re polar opposites, in pretty much every way. One is firmly on earth, based in crazy reality, and the other is an amazing fantasy, half in reality. Defendor was made for like $2 and was really, really elbow greasy. It was hard and emotional because I was a drug addicted prostitute. And then, Thor was this huge, massive, fun, dream-come-true experience. I liked it a lot. There’s a time and a place for both of those things.

Chris Hemsworth On The Avengers Ego Differences!
Chris Hemsworth talks a little about the big ego's in The Avengers (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/Avengers/)!
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/14310L.jpg
On whether or not he has talked with Whedon about The Avengers...
"I have, yeah. I worked on '[The] Cabin in the Woods' with Joss. So I knew him from back then, and then had a chat to him about a month ago about 'The Avengers' and what he plans on doing, and it is incredibly impressive, you know, and exciting."
On the subject of the conflicting ego's and Thor being pushed around...
"I don't think he likes to be, I don't think any of them do. I think that's what's so interesting."
Hawksblueyes: Part of what made Avengers books so cool to me is the fact that they were beating the Hell out of each other half of the time. It looks like this may continue in the film (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/GulfCoastAvengers/news/?a=20655#).

Chris Hemsworth Talks Thor Costume And Hammer!
The actor goes into detail about the first time he tried on the costume, talks about the different versions of Mjolnir they used and breifly mentions more about Thor's time on Earth...
Movie Trailers (http://www.mtv.com/movies/trailer_park/) - Movies Blog (http://moviesblog.mtv.com/)
"I put the costume on for the first time and had the camera test and Anthony Hopkins was there with me," he told MTV News in an interview at Comic Con. "We looked at each other and he said, 'God, there's no acting required here, is there?'"
"It sells the picture and you can't feel like anything but that character when you put that thing on. There's a very iconic sort of moment for myself putting it on but a lot of people who have been involved with the comics and the stories for years just said, 'Wow, this is it.'"
"There were a few different versions for different shots — the closeup one, and the stunt one," he said when question about Mjolnir, Thor's magical hammer. "The main one was very heavy, a beautifully polished, metal, wood, leather-looking thing. It was an impressive thing. You feel naked without it after holding it for a while."
"That was the transition of coming to Earth, as Thor minus his powers and costume was very much a fish out of water. It probably helped for the story, because he's meant to feel that way."
XCLUSIVE: Interview With One of The Designers of The Infinity Gauntlet from Marvel's THOR
I waited in line for almost an hour to catch a glimpse of life-sized The Infinity Gauntlet and chatted with one of it's creators. Find out the details and see the HI-RES IMAGES after the jump...

While waiting for the official unveiling of Marvel Studio's The Infinity Gauntlet movie prop I managed to catch up with one of the swords creators, who had a hand in the creation of this amazing piece. Here are the details:
- The prop was created by Sword and Stone out of Burbank, California. Tony Swatton was the head designer on the project, most of the credit undoubtedly goes to him for the final product.
- The prop is made almost completely out of bronze and copper. The gems are molded out of colored resin.
- The piece's approximate weight is roughly 60 lbs.
- All of the joints are operational, in case the studio plans on using animatronics to "wield" it for a future film.
- The prop will first be shown in Marvel's THOR which is scheduled for release next summer.
- The company who created it also created the Infinity Sword. It stands six feet tall, is encrusted with similar jewels and is perfectly balanced.

The Infinity Gauntlet. What Does This Mean For Marvel Movies?
With the unveiling of the infamous Infinity Gauntlet at SDCC, many people want to know, what does this mean for the direction of Marvel's movie universe? This is my opinion of the topic.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/12112/82895-253-infinity-gauntlet_super.jpg
As most of you know by now, the Infinity Gauntlet was unveiled at SDCC, and it looks awesome! I've seen a lot of people posting in the comments section and wondering if this means Thanos will be in the Avengershttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Corndogburglar/news/?a=20688#), or if Marvel is gearing up for an Infinity Gauntlet film (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Corndogburglar/news/?a=20688#) adaptation. What I'm about to say is my opinion, and my opinion only.
First of all, lets look at the first thing that popped into most people's minds: Will Thanos be in "The Avengers," and will The Infinity Gauntlet be the huge threat that brings these heroes together. In my humble opinion, I have to give a gigantic "NO!" It does not mean this at all. In fact, it would make little, to no sense. For those not familiar with it, lets look at the facts of what the Infinity Gauntlet is, and what its capable of...
1. The Infinity Gems. There are six of these gems, each has a distinct color and power. The green soul gem grants the power over the soul, orange is time, purple is space, blue is mind, yellow is reality, and red is power. Each gem, in and of themselves, has a vast amount of power, and grant the user with the power to control and manipulate each one of these things. When collected and mounted in a gauntlet, the combined gems become a weapon of unimaginable power, and grant the user control over every aspect of the gems. The wearer can warp reality to their fitting, manipulate time, and so on. Not even the combined power of the cosmic gods are enough to defeat such a weapon.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/12112/Infinity_Gems.jpg
2. In "The Infinity Gauntlet," Thanos killed half of the entire living population in the entire universe in hopes of making Death fall in love with him. He did this with nothing more than a thought.
3. Adam Warlock got the aid of the rest of the living earth-bound heroes, as well as the help of many of the cosmic gods, and led an attack on Thanos. Needless to say, Thanos could have wiped the floor with every last one of them, but his arrogance led to his downfall when he allowed the heroes to have less than a 1% chance of defeating him. This, along with the unexpected betrayal of his zombified sister Nebula, was enough to bring him down.
Now, knowing those facts, would you want this to be the threat in "The Avengers" movie? I know I don't. Alone, The Avengers would have no chance whatsoever of defeating something like that. In the comic, Thanos was turning them into glass statues, desintegrating people like Captain Americahttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Corndogburglar/news/?a=20688#), and making others outright cease to exist. All with a thought. If this turned out to be the threat in the Avengers, it would need to include the cosmic characters and gods, and they just simply haven't been introduced. In fact, nothing about the cosmic side of things has been introduced yet, and this needs to be done first. And not in some half-assed explanation. There need to be entire movies about the cosmic universe before this is even considered. So if the gauntlet is the threat, and The Avengers defeat it all by their lonesome, then it will be a horrendously watered down version of the Gauntlet, on par with "The Dark Phoenixhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Corndogburglar/news/?a=20688#)" in X3. I don't think anyone wants that, do they?
Onto the second thing that is on people's minds. Is Marvel gearing up for an Infinity Gauntlet movie? This seems more logical to me, even though, realistically, it would have to be many years before we see it. There are simply too many characters, and too much backstory and exlanations of the cosmic side of the MU for this story (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Corndogburglar/news/?a=20688#) to take place anytime soon. I would love for Marvel to start exploring the cosmic side of things as soon as possible. Kevin Feige has already stated that he would like to explore this. So, maybe after a few years of movies, we'll finally be in a position to make a movie as epic as The Infinity Gauntlet would warrant, but that time is not now.
I believe that the Gauntlet in Thor will be nothing more than an easter egg, and they may possibly mention its power, but I don't expect it to be anything of importance for quite some time. Also, I would rather have the Infinity Gauntlet take place in its own movie crossover, outside of the Avengers franchise. Just like the comics, it should have its own name, and not take place as an Avengers sequel. The Avengers have too many villains of their own to explore to take up a sequel with this.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/12112/800px-thanos2a-1.jpg
In short, I think they should make The Infinity Gauntlet movie as a stand-alone movie, with characters from all of Marvel's movies involved. Make it EPIC, Marvel, or don't make it at all!
Sorry for the length, but I felt it was necessary considering the amount of comments that mentioned they didn't know much about the Gauntlet. I hope you all enjoyed this article and I hope to hear your comments below. And remember, keep it respectful like! EXCELSIOR!!!!!!!!
Additional Elements In THOR Movie Revealed
Here are a few Spoilers that'll be in Marvel's upcoming THOR (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/) movie, including Odin's Vault, how Thor connects to Captain America (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/captain_america/) movie, how his hammer ends up on earth. Check it Out!
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/cbmthorhead.png
In Addition to narrowing down who (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20721) the multitalented actor Colm Feore will be portraying, Drew McWeeny of HitFix has revealed a few additional elements to Marvel's much anticipated THOR movie.
As we all know Marvel Studioshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20740#) dominated opposite studios, last Saturday showing footage for Captain America: The First Avenger, THOR, and teased with The Avengers at the San Diego Comic-Conhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20740#). And Drew Mcweeny not only having the opportunity to visit the highly secretive set of THOR while filming was underway, but attending this significant panel as well. And of course seeing the footage released for the God of Thunder.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/Chris%20Critty.jpg
Well in his overall thought on the panel, he reveals a few things unknown to be included in the movie. Check them out in bullets below.
"If we were curious about how much "Thor" and "Captain America" would be directly related, (the raw Captain America footage) answered the question for us. One of the coolest sets I saw when I visited the "Thor" set was Odin's vault where he keeps all of the most dangerous items in the Universe, the things he has collected from all the remote corners of the Universe. It's part trophy-room, part evidence locker. Odin keeps them there so no one can use them to bring about Ragnarok. And, evidently, not everything he put in there has remained in there, because the scene we watched involved The Red Skull (Hugo Weaving) searching this tomb for something he refers to as "The Tesseract."
Odin casts Thor out, strips him of his powers, and drops Mjolnir to Earth as a reminder to Thor that he can't lift it until he's worthy.
Thor does something truly awful in act one of the film that sets off a chain of events that eventually destroys an entire world and ignites a war. Odin is furious, since he was just about to hand off control of Asgard to Thor, and now he's had to completely reassess his son.
There's more footage from Thor's attempt at escape from S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, and we see what Thor was trying to find... Mjolnir, his hammer, embedded in concrete. He tries to pull it free but fails utterly.
And there were shots of Heimdall and a hint of how the Rainbow Bridge works.
DCMF - I assume that the The Infinity Gauntlet, which was revealed on the SDCC floor Sunday, is one of the dangerous items Odin has locked. And we can only wonder what awful thing Thor does that destroys another world, and the way specific way Heimdall (Idris Elbahttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20740#)) works the Bifrost Rainbow bridge, that connects to other worlds.
Chris Hemsworth Talks About Taking On Loki As Thor!
The actor confirms that the two will face off in the upcoming movie, talks about rehearsing the fight scenes and recalls giving Tom Hiddleston a bloody nose when filming...
Movie Trailers - Movies Blog
"Yeah, we did, actually," Hemsworth confirmed to MTV News when asked if Thor will battle Loki. "It was funny."
"We had a big rehearsal process with one particular fight scene we were doing and the whole time, Tom had his staff and his Loki helmet on with the horns. He always wore it in rehearsals while he moved, so basically he's sweating and he can't hear anything because the helmet is extraordinarily heavy."
"He had this kind of crazy look in his eyes, and the whole time I was thinking, 'He's going to kill me!' He's swinging his staff and catching me in the legs and in the fingers and I kept thinking, 'He's going to hurt somebody.'"
"But the day we shot the scene, I ended up elbowing him in the nose! Rivers of blood were on the set by accident. Subconsciously, maybe it was on purpose — but I didn't do it consciously!"

Chris Hemsworth On Aspects Of Becoming THOR, Biggest Concerns, Secrecy And More
The star in the making from Marvel's upcoming THOR (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/) movie, speaks on the many aspects of bringing the God of Thunder to life including balancing hubris & heroism.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/cbmthorhead.png
Chris Hemsworth (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20817#), star of Marvel'shttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=20817#) highly anticipated THOR, has offered countless interviews outlining the aspects of bringing the Norse God of Thunder to the big screen next summer. And now Hemsworth has offered Movies Online more & beyond including balancing Thor's hubris with heroism, the challenges of wielding Thor’s mighty hammer, and things that surprised him.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/thorhemsworth2.png
How important is the relationship between Thor and Jane in the film? Is it set up for later films?
"Well, there’s a lot of pressure with something that has existed for so many years before you were involved and already has a fan base. But, you don’t let that affect the way you approach the film. For me, you do it as well as you can whatever it is, whether it’s a small film or whether it’s something like this here. But it’s as exciting and daunting as each other."
In your performance and the way you think about Thor, how do you balance his hubris with his heroism? Do you think one exists in spite of the other?
" I think I do. I think it’s his ongoing battle, taming the berserk kind of warrior that is in him. Certainly that’s a big part in this film, he’s still got to be that warrior. He still has to have those elements. That’s what makes him Thor but also, you don’t want to watch a guy on screen that is just a jerk all the time. You’ve got moments of it, yeah, that’s kind of cool and bad, but then it just gets old. So finding that balance, and then at times, sneaking a bit of it back in at the right time. "
Are there prosthetics involved too?
"Well, the costume is a big heavy chainmail leather costume, but when it’s me, it’s me. It’s not fake arms."
Do you have a favorite Thor story from your research?
"The stuff with The Avengers I really liked. There’s one particular one where they approach him and Thor’s sitting on a beach in a party or something. There’s fire and people sitting around playing guitar. Thor’s there drinking a beer and up walk out SHIELD and I think Iron Man. They’re like, “Supposedly you’re a god and we want you to join our team.” He’s like, “Psh, I’m not joining nothing.” I think one of them says something like, “I don’t believe he’s a god anyway.” Thor makes big rain and thunder and they scurry away. I enjoyed that moment."
What fighting techniques did you go through for Thor’s hammer swing, and what did you end up with?
"A lot of different stuff because it really is a very impractical kind of weapon in a sense. There’s a big huge head on it and a tiny little handle. So we talked about boxing a lot actually. I’d done a lot of Muay Thai for years and Muay Thai is much more on your toes and legs involved. Boxing is more of a grounded sort of technique. We’d talk about Tyson, low to the ground and power through the legs. A lot of that I think influenced Thor and certainly big open shoulders, big shoulder movements. It becomes a very gritty kind of street fighting stuff at times and he happens to have a big old hammer in his hand as well."
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/thor33534.jpg
What’s your favorite thing about Thor that drew you to the role?
"Being part of a franchise so I can pay rent. I mean, look, when this came along, this film, I was knocking on every door trying to get a job. Once having the job, I’ll tell you about what excited me. I love the Norse mythology aspect of it all. I think the Viking era is fascinating. He has a great journey. He’s a brash, cocky young warrior and he’s got to learn some humility along the way. Anything to do with brothers and fathers, I have a great relationship with my brothers and fathers and stuff to draw from. That stuff always lights a fire in me. Even when I see it on screen it affects me. The warrior aspect and the people involved was all appealing."
How hard is it to keep it all a secret, and have you slipped up yet?
" I don't think I have. There were some photos leaked at one point. I was like, “Oh God, hopefully it wasn’t me.” Look, the thing is this is already based on sort of comic books which the stories are there. Now which particular story we’ve decided to tell is I guess the secret, but a lot of the essence of it already exists and people know about it. That’s not secret."
At any point in the movie will you say “verily” or “I say thee name?”
"Nay. Like in the comic books, it’s much more Shakespearian old English speak. We didn’t go down that path. We certainly made them standard sort of English accents. It was certainly well spoken and very formal but it wasn’t Shakespearian. "
What are your hopes for how Thor will fit in to the Avengers team?
"I hope it works. Look, I think that’s going to be great. A lot of people are like, “Oh, I want to see them fight and who would win?” But I’d like to see the dinner party with Iron Man, Captain America and Thor. What the hell would they talk about?"
How did you take to the stunts and action?
"I love that stuff. I played a lot of sport in my life and any time I can get in there and do that stuff, you’re getting paid to do that it’s ridiculous."
Were you surprised by anything you were able to do?
"You know, there’s something I thought I could do and I couldn’t which was strapped into this harness, I had to pretend like I was falling through space. I basically was there on a couple of wires and they just spin you. You spin backwards. I thought that’s something that at the show grounds you pay five bucks for and it’s just going to be fun. Two spins later, I was like whooooaaaaa. We stopped and I was like pale. They’re like, “You want to stop?” I was like, “No, just keep going until I throw up I guess.” He just kept spinning and going, “You all right, Chris?” It’s like [gasps], “Go again, go again.” Eventually we got what we needed and I just had to sit down for a couple hours. It was hideous. "

Tom Hiddleston Talks Loki, Thor And The Avengers!
The actor talks about the character of Loki, his relationship with Thor, the stunts he had to train for and shares his thoughts on The Avengers...
In an interview with IGN, the actor goes into detail about his role in the upcoming moviehttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=20858#) and dicusses both his character and the relationship he shares with Thor, the stunts he had to prepare for and once again hints at being in The Avengers as well as what he thought about seeing the team coming together for the first time at Comic Con last week.
http://i26.tinypic.com/2cy2mnp.jpg (http://tinypic.com/?ref=2cy2mnp)
On His Portrayal Of Loki:
"I hope that he is a villain that you love to hate, rather than a villain that you just hate. Well, I think throughout the course of the film I think you can understand his motivation. Loki isn't just an anarchist. He's not just someone who's out to burn the house down. I think his villainy, or what gives him credentials as a supervillain, is that he comes from a deep sense of betrayal. He's caught between two worlds and he's highly alone. And someone with an inclination towards mischief anyway, someone who likes pulling practical jokes, he's a prankster. That inclination is fed into the rejection and he becomes kind of a destructive force. So it's pretty fun."
On Loki's Relationship With His Brother Thor:
"I like that Loki is such a good liar that you can't tell. I didn't want to do any winking at the audience to say like, this is when I'm lying. Um, I think in the film, I don't want to give too much away, but you find out that Loki has been responsible for a hell of a lot more than you first might have imagined. And that's all over the comics. You'll be following Thor through one adventure and you think there's one particular bad guy and then Stan Lee and Jack Kirby will pull Loki out from behind the curtain and you see him pulling the strings and you go, "Oh my God, it was Loki all along." Yeah, he is a shape-shifter, someone that is not to be trusted."
On Training For His Stunts:
"I did a lot of training, actually. Ken asked for me to be very lean and very strong at the same time. And he wanted me to develop a fighting style that would be much closer to, I don't know if you've heard about the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira. If Thor was a big rock then Loki was like the wind. And he would just dance around this sturdy block of granite that was Thor. And so I developed a kind of fighting style that was much more balletic. I used to jump rope a lot. Ken said I don't want you to build muscle, because I could have. But he wanted to keep me really lean and really flexible so that he would swing the hammer and I would bend around it."
On Whether Loki Will Be In The Avengers:
"I'm not sure I'm allowed to say at this point."
On What He Thought About Seeing The Team Assemble At Comic Con:
"I think it's astonishing. I think that Marvel is an imaginative organization. It's truly epic and ambitious. It's like bringing together a fleet of ocean liners and having them all sail together. I really think it's truly amazing. I was doing another television job in Sweden about three years ago. I had a day off and I went into a local town and I went to see Iron Man and I became an immediate fan. And in that moment never imagined that two years later I would be the next one along that was leaning towards the union of these heroes. I think it's epic."

Odin "Runs" the the Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Asgardian All-Father has a larger role in Marvel movies than most fans expected; will this revelation lend hits to the inclusion of all the cosmic artifacts we've seen?
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=20886#), Thor director Kenneth Branagh reveals that Anthony Hopkins character, Odin, "runs the universe." This seems to be a deviation from the mythology set up in the comics, but can lead to solid continuity amongst the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As we've seen (or heard) in the recent clips of both Captain Americahttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=20886#) and Thor footage shown at Comic Con, several key cosmic artifacts are being introduced into the film-verse: The Casket of Ancient Winters, the Cosmic Cube (or "Tesseract") and the Infinity Gauntlethttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=20886#) and Sword.
It appears that Odin collects these items (along with many more that have yet to be revealed) and stores them in different areas of the universe for safekeeping. The role each play in their respective films, as well as the ensemble film The Avengershttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=20886#), has yet to be discerned.

Tom Hiddleston Talks About Loki In 'Thor'
A new interview with Tom Hiddleston has surfaced from Movies Online where he discusses certain aspects of the Loki character from the film and the comic books.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/18029/loki%20hiddleston.JPG
While at the San Diego Comic-Con 2010, following the amazing Avengers panel where they had the likes of Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Kaboom/news/?a=21284#) (Thor) and Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Kaboom/news/?a=21284#)) and others on stage, Movies Online got a chance to snag an interview with Tom Hiddleston, who can be seen in the May 6, 2011 film 'Thor'.
Q: Did you have a wide range to have at it or were there specific parameters to your villainy?
Tom Hiddleston: Ken and I discussed a lot very early on because we both read a lot of the comics and there were so many facets of him in the comics. There was kind of an agent of chaos who would go down to earth and turn whales into sea serpents and plows into dragons and whole streets of cars (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Kaboom/news/?a=21284#) in New York into ice cream. But then there was also this damaged brother, this younger brother who didn’t receive as much love as his elder brother and who was passed over, rejected, betrayed, and I think that became really interesting for both of us actually. Ken and I suddenly decided we wanted to root all of his mischief in a truthful, psychological damage. He essentially was the younger brother. He was never going to be king and he wished that he could, so all of his stuff comes from wanting to please his father, although there’s a big reveal about who his father really is in the course of the film which I won’t reveal. But it was rooted in that. I found the duality of that, the sort of he’s a villain, he has a lot of fun, he’s a mischievous prankster but at the same time he’s in deep, deep pain.
Q: Is that reveal something that’s not in the comic book?
Tom Hiddleston: No, it’s in the comics.
Q: So we can do our research.
Tom Hiddleston: You can. Look into the truth of Loki’s lineage and you will find it.
Q: Kenneth seems to give his actors a lot of stuff to work with such as books and movies. What did he give you to play the villain? Where did you start?
Tom Hiddleston: Interestingly enough, he said to have a look at Peter O’Toole in two specific films: The Lion in Winter and Lawrence of Arabia. I mean, two magnificent performances. What’s interesting about The Lion in Winter is he plays King Henry and what’s beautiful about his performance is that you see how damaged he is. And there’s a rawness. It’s almost as if he’s living with a layer of skin (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Kaboom/news/?a=21284#) peeled away. He’s grandiose and teary, and in a moment, by turns, hilarious and then terrifying. What we wanted was that kind of emotional volatility. He said, “Just have a look. Don’t necessarily…” It’s a different acting style. It’s not quite the same thing. What’s fascinating (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Kaboom/news/?a=21284#) is to go back and watch an actor as great as O’Toole and head for those high hills. And then actually on set, we used to do different takes of different scenes and we’d have three different versions. The first one would always be like he’d say you can have one for free. The second take would be the Peter O’Toole take. The third take would be the Clint Eastwood take and the fourth take would be the Jack Nicholson. So it was like I had these three great actors who I was trying to pull stuff from.
Q: Which one did you end up using more often?
Tom Hiddleston: He used to love the Clint actually. It was between the Clint and the Jack because the Clint would be like whatever you’re feeling, put it away in a drawer somewhere at the bottom of you and throw away the key. And Jack’s would be just like [imitating Nicholson’s voice and delivery] “Have a *really* good time!” There was that kind of relish, a deep sense of enjoyment like he was really enjoying himself.
'Thor' will be released May 6, 2011, starring Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Idris Elba, Jaime Alexander, Kat Denningshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Kaboom/news/?a=21284#), Stellan Skarsgard, Clark Gregg, Joshua Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, and Ray Stevenson. The film will be directed by Kenneth Branagh.
Tom Hiddleston On His "Loki" Performance In THOR, And Elements That Affect It
The actor whose playing the villain Loki, in Marvel's upcoming THOR (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/), speaks on their love/hate relationship, and the tone of his performance and how the costume affects it.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/Thor%20animation.gif
In this interesting interview with Tom Hiddleston, who portrays the God Of Mischeif in Marvel's highly anticipated THOR, he speaks shortly with Stars Entertainment on his role, including the dynamic Love/hate relationship between Thor and Loki, the tone of his performance, and reiterates how Loki becomes the villain over the course of the film.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/tom%20hiddle%20in%20the%20micc.jpg
Would you say the dynamic between Thor and Loki is a love, hate type of relationship?
Entirely. I think Loki grows up with an older brother who he loves and respects. They play, they banter and they bash each other about, but there is a latent jealousy. Craig Kyle – one of our producers – always used to talk about the analogy of the quarterback and the artist. Thor is the quarterback. He’s a chip off the old block and he’s just like his dad. Loki’s problem is, maybe not his problem, but [that] he’s more drawn to the powers of intellect, magic, and the dark arts.
He’s not going to be out in the fields throwing a hammer around. That’s just not where his passion lies. There’s a disconnect with Odin and there’s a disconnect with Thor. He loves them very much, but he’s not just made of the same stalk. In the course of the film there’s a big reveal both for Loki and the audience about the truth of Loki’s true lineage and who his real parents are. I think that begets any jealous that was within him towards Thor develops into a dark, cancerous rage that then becomes a destructive rage.
Did that help you find a truth with Loki rather than just playing the straight, typical and easy bad guy?
He’s certainly not an anarchist who wants to burn the house down. I think he has an inner conviction. He loves a practical joke, he loves mischief and he loves playing around. He loves starting a bonfire in the next room and hearing people scream, but nobody would be killed. After he finds out his whole life has been a lie and that he doesn’t belong anywhere there’s a very truthful psychological root that you could see is motivated by pain.
He’s motivated by an anger and by being left out in the cold. He doesn’t seem to have anyone that loves him or truly appreciates him. Essentially, he’s competing with Thor for the love and acceptance from Odin as a son. Maybe [it's] a huge sci-fi, fantastical epic set in the norse heaven of Asgard, but when you boil it down it’s a story about a dad and two boys. Those two boys are warring for that father’s love and that’s where the villainy, aggression and rage comes from.
Could you talk a bit about the tone of your performance and how the costume itself affects it? It is a very extravagant look.
The tone of my performance… I suppose the tone of my performance is up to Kenneth [Branagh] right now (laughs). He hasn’t finished cutting it up, but I gave him lots of options and I gave him a lot of relish with that mischief is glee and that [there's] a real twinkle in his eye that he takes in being a badass, as you guys are fond of saying.
There’s a vulnerability there to show that this guy is hurting deeply inside. It’s funny, with the performance in the costume I found myself quite often on my own sometimes on set. Quite often in the scenes Loki is off with an energy on his own. There’s a lot of banter going on with the warriors three, Sif, and actually, Loki is not a part of that. Oddly, during the shooting of it I’d find myself in my own little world cooking up a particular flavor, but a particular type of flavor.

Tom Hiddleston tells us what it was like on the sets of THOR (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/).
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/14969L.jpg
MTV talked with Tom Hiddleston who portrays Loki in the upcoming Marvel movie THOR at this years Comic Con. He had some interesting things to say about the sets of both Asgard and Jotunheim.
"The Asgard sets were like walking through a futuristic palace. They'd matched the size of the spaces to the size of the studio, so it felt like you were walking through the gorgeous palaces of a shining city in the sky."
"I actually loved Jotunheim," he said. "It was the first set we were on. Jotunheim is where the Frost Giants live, who are the mortal enemies of Asgardians."
"It's basically a planet that is made of ice. If you can picture any alpine region like the French Alps or the Rockies or something — it's kind of like that on acid, it's just bigger and spikier and I loved all that. They had really realistic ice flows and snow and mountains and dripping water."
Hiddleston also hinted that he got to see some action while on the Jotunheim set...
"That was when I pulled out some of my big moves."
Chris Hemsworth Talks Thor Character, Cosume And Hammer!
The Thor (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/) actor discusses competing with his brother for the role, wearing the costume, wielding Mjolnir, stealing props and more...
http://i36.tinypic.com/2ppzslg.jpg (http://tinypic.com/?ref=2ppzslg)
On Competing With His Brother For The Role:
"Liam and I both auditioned for it, funny enough. I had an audition, didn't hear anything. The next minute I heard they were flying Liam over to meet Kenneth and he was down to the last four guys, and I was like, 'What?' And then I got another phone call from Branagh and was like, 'Shit, Liam. What worked, what didn't? Tell me what he said! I got some advice, and ...here we are."
On The Costume:
"The costume is...is a big heavy chain mail, leather costume. But when it's me, it's me. I put on 20 pounds and then lost a lot of it since then purely from not eating as much."
On The Pressure Of Playing A Character Like Thor:
"There's a lot of pressure with something that's existed for so many years before you were involved and already has a fan base, but you don't let it affect the way you approach the film. For me, I approached it as you do it the best you can, whether it's a small film or something big like this. It's exciting and daunting."
On Thor's Personality In The Movie:
"It's an ongoing battle, taming this berserk warrior that's in him. Certainly that's a big part of this film. He still has to be that warrior, that's what makes him Thor. But also, you don't want to watch a guy onscreen for too long that's a jerk all the time. You can have moments of it, 'hey, that's kind of cool, and bad', but then it just gets old."
On Wielding Mjolnir:
"It has this big huge head on it, and a tiny little handle. The fighting becomes very gritty, kind of street-fighting sort of stuff at times. Thor just happens to have a big ole Hammer in his hands, as well."
On Whether He Took The Hammer Home With Him:
"I did ...nah, well, not officially. I mean, I certainly talked to a lot of people about it...but I forgot to take it!"

The actress who is bringing Lady Sif to life on the big screen briefly about her experience on the THOR movie set as well as her arduous training for the role.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/14798L.JPG
Over the past few weeks, we've heard plenty from actors Chris Hemsworth (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=21647#) and Tom Hiddleston about their roles in the highly anticipated, comic adaptation Thor; but there is one character whose appearance in the film has been kept relatively secret. The Lady Sif, a hardened Asgardian warrior and love interest of Thor in Marvel Comics continuity, is being portrayed be actress Jaimie Alexander; who was brought to sci-fi fans' attention with her portrayal of the cryptic Jessi in the television series Kyle XY.
Ms. Alexander took a break from her hectic schedule to chat (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/Poniverse/news/?a=21647#) with me about her role in Thor, and the amount of preparation it took to properly introduce Sif to the general movie going audience:
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/15022L.jpg
Pietro Filipponi: You're no stranger to the action genre, but would you consider THOR to be a step above the other projects you've worked on to date?
Jaimie Alexander: It most certainly was was step above, I've always loved action movies and am so grateful to be a part of this one.
PF: How long were you on set filming Thor, and how would you sum up your overall experience?
JA: Well, I began training [for my role] in October of 2009 and we started filming in January 2010.. We filmed all the way through.
PF: How intensive was the training? What would you say was the most difficult part of production?
JA: The training was rough, I trained around 2 to 3 hours everyday.. Weight lifting, cardio, and [sometimes] yoga. The stunt training was my favorite! Learning weaponry skills and such.. I'd say fighting in my hero costume was the toughest part of all. It was rather restricting in certain areas and quite heavy.
PF: How was it like being in that armor day after day?
JA: The armor was rough to wear sometimes but very beautiful. I've never seen costumes so elaborate in detail.. So incredible.
PF: We saw a bit of you in action during the Comic Con footage, what would you say is Sif's weapon of choice in the film?
JA: Well, she has three [different weapons], but I can't tell you what they are just yet.
PF: Even though her proper name is Lady Sif, would you say the character is considered 'one of the guys'?
JA: She most definitely is "one of the guys".. She's a very talented, skilled warrior and can stand on her own against any villain in the film.
PF: Definitely as tough as in the comics, but there's also a softer side to her. How would you categorize her relationship with Thor (Chris Hemsworth) in the film?
JA: She is very loyal to Thor and cares a lot about protecting him and protecting Asgard.. As for a possible love relationship you'll just have to wait and see the movie. My lips are sealed!
PF: Three words to describe the film version of Sif. Go!
JA: Hmm.. Stoic, intense, powerful.
PF: Did you get to sneak any souvenirs away from the set?
JA: Just memories.. Good memories [laughs]
PF: What was your favorite part of filming and what do you most look forward to seeing in the theatrical release of the film?
JA: My favorite part of filming was showing up every morning seeing the people I work with and the smiles on their faces. We had an incredible cast and crew and I miss them all the time.
I'm [looking forward] to seeing the finished product come to life.. We all worked so hard and I believe it will show.
PF: What are you working on between Marvel projects and when can we expect to see you don the Sif armor again?
JA: I just finished shooting an independent film called Loosies with Peter Facinelli, it was such a great experience. I'm looking forward to it's release next year. If THOR does well, you will definitely see more of Sif on the big screen.
Tom Hiddleston Talks More About Playing Loki And Wearing The Helmet!
The actor goes into detail about wearing the helmet, the difficulties of wearing it while filming and why he thinks it's a suitable look for the God of Mischief...
"It was extremely hot, because we were all wearing a lot of armor — we were wearing leather pants and breastplates and shoulder plates and bicep plates, and the cape was very heavy," Hiddleston told MTV News in a recent interview.
"So you're hot anyway, and then you put on what I called the steel balaclava — the horned, steel balaclava — and all the heat that's coming through your body that would normally get out through your head can't get out through your head. So my brain would slowly fry. And sometimes that would really feed what I was doing. I would be going kind of mad in there."
"When I would take it off at the end of a scene, it would be like really letting the scene go. You've got two big horns and...the imagery is satanic."
"People who don't know the comics as well, I've shown them the pictures...and they say, 'You're playing the devil. Your'e playing an incarnation of the devil.' And he is the Marvel agent of chaos."
Chris Hemsworth Used Mike Tyson For Inspiration While Fighting In Thor!

"First, we looked at the comic books and the posturing, the way Thor moves and fights, and a lot of his power seems to be drawn up through the ground," the actor told MTV News in a recent interview.
"We talked about boxers, you know, Mike Tyson, very low to the ground and big open chest and big shoulder swings and very sort of brutal but graceful at the same time, and then as we shot stuff things became easier."
"The costume's pretty limiting with the movement, so I had a lot of things to work around!"
Tom Hiddleston Talks About The Thor Finale: There Will Be Blood!
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/articles/21930.jpg
Tom Hiddleston speaks to MTV about playing Loki, the "balletic" fighting style and the final fight at the end of the movie!..
In this interview segment from MTV (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=21930#), Tom Hiddelston describes his take on how Loki and Thor would react in a scrap, as well as revealing a little about the end of the film..
"I tried to find a physicality for Loki that was very different from Chris as Thor, He's such a big guy and he does so much work on his body, and it was brute strength and a really raw masculinity that would wield this hammer with an enormous power."
"If he was the rock, I wanted to be like the wind, dancing around and you could never pin me down, I worked with the stunt guys on this almost balletic fighting style. You'd throw a punch at Loki but he's ten steps ahead of you and he wouldn't be there."
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/tom%20hiddle%20in%20the%20micc.jpgHiddleston goes on to describe the final brawl between the two at the climax of the film. Keep in mind that Chris Hemsworth (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=21930#)(Thor) has already likened his maneuvers with the hammer to Mike Tyson'shttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/rorschachsrants/news/?a=21930#) boxing style! What on earth are we in for..
"There's a huge fight at the end — that's not giving too much away to say that it comes to a head. We rehearsed it a lot [and] Ken [Branagh] was really happy. After that day of shooting, he said we definitely have the 'Bourne Ultimatum' version of the two boys from Asgard."
Well, its not too much of a stretch to assume that most of us knew it would come down to a face off between these two. But apparently it gets a bit more violent than we may have expected..
"There was this move where I had to spear [Hemsworth] and he'd catch the spear . . . and then just pop the elbow up into my face, I'd been doing this quite nifty reaction — like great boxing closeups where you see someone get punched in the nose. On the fourth take, we got a little close, and in that split second, I thought, 'I've got too close. I'm going to get nailed. [Hemsworth] just cracked me in the nose, and I was so stilled by the force of this thing, Chris had huge arms at this point. His arms were the size of my head. He had to throw me across the room, and you can hear him going, 'Sorry, dude,' and then slinging me across the room. Rivers of blood were coming out of my nose."
Well, I'm liking the Bourne reference. That sounds pretty damn awesome. Lets hope that scene makes it into the final cut! Whats the rules on a bloody nose in a PG13 movie these days?
Natalie Portman And Kat Dennings On Returning For Thor 2!
The actresses talk about returning for the sequel to next years movie, share their ideas for how their characters could return and Dennings reveals just how good Portman looks in sweatpants...
"It was a fun opportunity to get to do this character, because I think she's an unusual female character for one of these movies," Portman told MTV News last month at Comic Con. "I'm in sweatpants for half of the movie, so I'm not in some crazy, sexy garb!"
[URL="http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=22006#"]Kat Denningshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://moviesblog.mtv.com/) agreed by saying that Portman is, "the most beautiful girl in sweatpants you've ever seen," although the actress replied by reiterating that her character is a, "frazzled, kind of messy scientist. I think hopefully it's a different kind of character to add to the genre."
"I'm supposed to be in the next 'Thor' if they make more, but I don't know about that," Portman said when asked about returning for a sequel. "I think all of us are signed up for the rest of the 'Thor' series, but we could have one line in the next one, or nothing."
As for how Kat Dennings thinks her role in the next movie should go she joked, "Darcy dies in the first scene, like in 'Scream.' Jane Foster goes insane and puts her head in a blender!" To which Portman replied: "I think you should write the next one."
More From Idris Elba On Thor And His Desire To Play Blade!?
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/articles/22031.JPG
In a recent interview, the actor goes into a little more detail about working on Kenneth Branagh's Thor (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/) and according to the site also expressed his interest in playing Blade or Nick Fury...
In an interview with The Detroit News promoting his latest movie, the actor (who plays Heimdall in Thor) was asked about being a part of the movies large ensemble cast and apparently expressed his desire to play a leading character in future! Below is an excerpt from the report:
http://i36.tinypic.com/aubbsg.jpg (http://tinypic.com/?ref=aubbsg)
"I would like to be in the lead position, with characters around me," says Elba, mentioning Nick Fury or Blade as potential roles for him to sink his teeth into. "If that's what I'm going to do, it's better to be the kick than the sidekick."
I've thought that Elba would be a good choice to play Blade for a while now, but Nick Fury? I cant imagine that he's be eyeing up Samuel L. Jackson's role so blatantly, and although the report doesnt make it clear, it's far more likely he was probably just using that character as an example. "It's a big, big, big film," he added. "I saw the trailer and I was like, 'Damn, I'm in that movie?'"
What do you guys think? Would Elba be a good choice for Blade, or are you sick of actors playing more than one comic book role? Share your thoughts in the usual place!
Natalie Portman On Thor And The Avengers!
[/URL]
The actress talks about being hired for the role of Jane Foster, working with Kenneth Branagh on blue screen, whether she'll appear in Thor 2 (http://www.superherostuff.com/thor-t-shirts-merchandise.html) and The Avengers (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/avengers/) as well as a lot more...
In the latest issue of Total Film Magazine, the actress was interviewed about her experiences during the filming of Thor and below are some of the highlights which I've just typed up from some scans I found online. The magazine's cover boasts a fair few other comic book movie related exclusives and I'll try and pick up a copy tomorrow to see if there's any other decent info in there to share with you guys!
http://i54.tinypic.com/fedo9l.jpg (http://tinypic.com/?ref=fedo9l)
On Her Reaction To Being Offered The Role:
"It was sort of actually not something I was dying to do. Not Thor in particular, but a big movie. When I heard Ken was doing it, I said, 'Wow that is a daring and interesting idea.' Then I met Ken and he was someone I was extremely interested to get to spend three months with. It was probably the first, or one of the first times, that my expectations were actually exceeded."
On Working With Blue Screen During Filming:
"Getting to experience that with Ken's guidance, - who's the master of attacking text and character from every angle - was a new way to approach blue screen acting. It was an exciting challenge to go at again."
On The Tone Of Thor And Her Character:
"I think comics have such classic epic themes. Like Thor, I think you could make a small independent film with the same themes and it would be really interesting. It's a total thrill. Jane is a well loved character, but also one who is really open to finding new colours."
[U]On The Avengers and Thor 2:
"I'm not in The Avengers, but I am in the future Thor films if and when they happen."
Thor will be released in cinemas worldwide on May 6th, 2011!
Kenneth Branagh Speaks On the Look Of Asgard In THOR & Avoiding Cheesiness
Director of Marvel's highly anticipated THOR speaks with 'Film School Rejects' on the look of the film & Asgard overall. And also speaks on avoiding being cheesy.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/ggyhj.png
News regarding Marvel's much anticipated adaption of the Mighty Avenger THOR, has been dull with the studio now focused on shooting Captain America. And while the film (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=22362#) is still in the late editing & 3D conversion stage, director (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=22362#) Kenneth Branagh recently sat down with Jack Giroux of Film School Reject, where he discusses look & tone of the film, Asgard, and also avoiding what many fans fear: cheesiness.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/hdhgdr.png
“Tone was always a key issue. Key people early on… obviously the production designer Bo Welch and the Academy Award-winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne was also someone trying to be inspired by the comic book, but also seek it as being as imaginative about it [as possible] and [to] present textures and elements. You know, when people travel through space they live in a world with gods.”
"We were always trying to look at it and see what you saw in the comic and try to re-imagine it. [It was] going back to the original source, and that got everybody excited. You want to try to be pure and classical with it, but bring a new twist.”
“[With] the production we wanted a mammoth quality Asgard with having monumental buildings. If you walk around the city of Rome and you look up at any street corner there’s just an emissivity that would have kept people visiting that place in ancient Rome bored.”
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, and Natalie Portman, THOR storms into theaters May 6, next year in 3D!
Kenneth Branagh On How Diverse THOR Will Be, Compared To the Iron Man Franchise
The director for the much-anticipated adaption of THOR speaks on how diverse his approach into the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, than Jon Favreau's Iron Man franchise. Check it Out
http://www.dailyblam.com/sites/all/files/thor%20%286%29.JPG
Marvel Studios' highly anticipated adaption of THOR is said to bring something new to the CBM genre, and to the Marvel Cinematic Universe currently existing through Jon Favreau's Iron Man franchise, and Louis Leterrier's take on The Incredible Hulk. Director (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=22712#) Kenneth Branagh now speaks with Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times on how his entry into the ever-expanding cinema of the Marvel Universe will be quite different in tone and construction.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/edgtwside.png“It’s a different story, and also, in that regard, Jon is a bit of a genius when it comes to that orchestration and getting the max out of another genius in Downey,” Branagh said. “It’s how you dance pretty close to the edge to get the sort of modernity and the edge that ‘Iron Man’ has and the real sharp comic sensibility of those two men,” he said. “So it’s a different kind of dance.
“I think ‘Thor’ comes from a different place story-wise and character-wise. We have both Norse histories for Thor, hundreds of myths and fables told in many different ways, in addition to what Marvel has pillaged for the past 40 years or so to come up with their version of things, which sits in very strong structure, a really strong narrative structure.”
Branagh said there was also a “formality, [at] least on the Asgardian side of things; there’s a semi-ornateness to all of it that means we start from a more ordered universe, then the story turns toward the chaotic.”
Marvel Studios' interlocking mythology will continue in multiple film (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MarvelFreshman/news/?a=22712#) franchises, counting Captain America: The First Avenger which hits theaters a couple month after THOR, July 22. And in 2012, all the characters will intertwine in The Avengers, and Kenneth Branagh can’t wait, saying, “That’s what’s going to make the Avengers fascinating. I think a character like Thor is the absolute opposite of someone like Tony Stark and the mix, complement and clash of those personalities will be very interesting to watch.”
With Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth wielding his mighty hammer, THOR strikes into theaters May 6, next year in 3D!
Anthony Hopkins On Odin's Costume, Kenneth Branagh And Messing With Chris Hemsworth!
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/articles/22756.jpg
The Thor actor describes wearing the suit and working with director Kenneth Branagh as well as messing with the head of his young co-star, Chris Hemsworth...
"I’m glad I’m not young anymore because you see their insecurities and I always joke along with them," Hopkins laughed during a recent interview while promoting his new movie (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=22756#). "I say things like, ‘Is that the way you’re going to play it?’ Chris and I got to know each other but he was looking nervous and I said, ‘Oh, is that the way you’re going to play it?’ He said, ‘Yeah, is it okay?’ I said, ‘Well, it’s your career."
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10300/wdijsd.jpg
"They know that I’m joking but you have to have that relaxation to work with actors. If people are nervous around you it’s pointless. So I got that edge and say things."
As for the bulky costume he has to wear as the father of Thor, the Welsh actor said: "Well, it was hard work. It was carrying 15 pounds of armor on my back or more. 25 pounds I think, but Branagh’s a great director."
"I call him the general," he added while praising the director (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=22756#) of the upcoming Marvel Studioshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=22756#) movie. "He’s so self assured and so present and he knows exactly what he wants. I’d never worked with him before and I wouldn’t say I know him well but it was such a pleasant revelation working with him. I don't know what it is about him. He’s very self-assured and a great actor. He brings all his experience to the set. I think he’s terrific."

Kevin Feige and Producer Craig Kyle Talk THOR!
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/articles/26298.jpg
Now that the silencer has been pulled off of the THOR set visit, news is flowing in like water. See what Kevin Feige and producer Craig Kyle had to say during CBR's THOR set visit.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/19427L.jpgAs DCMarvelFreshman posted earlier, CBR released the details on their THOR set visit earlier today. Below is just a few of the quotes you can find in their set report from Marvels Head of Production Kevin Feige and Producer Craig Kyle on the upcoming THOR film.
On Asgard...
Kevin Feige: "The fun and scary thing about 'Thor' is you can go a million different directions with the look of Asgard. It could have been 'Lord of the Rings,' it could have been anything, but we've chosen very specifically a Jack Kirby and Walt Simonson vibe for this movie.
"We didn't want to be scared of things like big helmets and capes. We've got them in this movie and they look awesome on film. There really is a sense here that we're creating another world, and we're going to take the audience to that world. I think we have a very good conceit for the movie and the way the movie opens leads them in to it. Is Loki going to have a giant helmet with horns on it? Yes!"
On Alexandra Bryne's costume designs...
Kevin Feige: "[Alex] can't hide from the brilliant colors and wild looks of the comics. She had to embrace that. It's a tough, tough road, but we all think she's done a great job the way she and Bo [Welch, Production Designer] have really embraced the Kirby and Simonson work and even the more recent stuff in the JMS run. That's what happens when Marvel takes on their properties – we can't strip them out of the colors or costumes that people expect. We can't hide from that stuff. We know why people love our books – it's because of the look and how wonderful our stories have been. The challenge is, you just have to do it right and find out how to bring everyone in."
Craig Kyle: "We were thinking about Thor as a super hero first. One of our designers pointed out how he's a warrior first, and when he gets to Earth he becomes a super hero. We always knew we weren't going to make it a warrior story, but with the costume, we hadn't taken that hard line approach. Early on, a designer came in, Charlie Wen, who came in with a design we never ended up using in the movie, but he nailed the direction that spoke to the language of Asgardian style. Charlie and Alex together, with a very talented team, used this one design that became the palette of Asgard. We were terrified, because we knew we had to nail that costume, and as Kevin often brings up, it's the first time there's a cape in a Marvel movie."
On the Bifrost Bridge...
Kevin Feige: "In the comics, it's literally a rainbow that extends out from Asgard and pops down on Earth. We're not necessarily doing that. We're not having the big hard solid lines of colors; we're saying it's some sort of energy, almost a solid quartz bridge that as the light catches it and flows through it, you get some of that rainbow-esque quality to it. At the end of the bridge, in our film, you come to Heimdall's Observatory. Heimdall guards it, he uses his sword to control it, it begins to spin and it blasts you through space/time to get you where you're going. It's a sort of wormhole portal travel device."
More From Tom Hiddleston On His Role As Loki In Thor And The Avengers!
The actor talks about his portrayal of Loki, what it was like trying out for the role of Thor, wearing the helmet, preparing for some huge fight scenes and whether or not we'll really see him in The Avengers...
Thanks to the Comic Book Resources for the following quotes. To read the full interview where the actor talks about a lot more about his work on the movie as well as some really interesting information about Kenneth Branagh, follow the link at the bottom of this page.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10300/1291997851.jpg
On Landing The Role Of Loki After Trying Out For Thor:
" I was told I was being tested for the role of Thor and I had half a day. So in mid-March last year, I came in and met with Craig Kyle and met Ken Branagh and did a test for Thor with Thor's blonde wig and facial hair and 20 pounds of extra muscle which I managed to find somewhere. And yeah, I think it was about a month later that I was back in London and Ken, Craig and Kevin called and said, "I just want to let you know that we have definitely and definitively found someone else for Thor, but we'd like to offer you the part of Loki." At which point I screamed and had to sit down on the pavement somewhere outside of a grizzly pub in North London and think about the rest of my life for a bit. Contemplate my existence. So that's how I got the part, yeah."On The Loki We Will See And His Relationship With Thor:
"We're starting at the beginning, I think it's safe to say. I start in the film as Thor's younger brother, and I think in the manner of all younger brothers, I have a greater sense of freedom. I'm not the oldest, therefore the parental expectations aren't as heavy, so it's like a lot of younger children in sibling groups; I think Loki has a bit more freedom. He's not going to be King. He knows that. He has less responsibility on his shoulders so he's freer to have a bit more fun. Everybody at Marvel has been very clear and brilliant about coming into this that Loki just has...they're both enormously gifted. Thor and Loki are a two-man team and they're both going to run Asgard when Odin steps down.""Loki's gifts are different in that he is sharper, he's cleverer, he's more interested in tactics and strategy. He's capable of thinking ahead and he enjoys chaos. So he enjoys reacting to chaos and that affects how he's the God of mischief. And so, I think that's where we start in that he's just physically not as strong, but he he's quicker and sharper, I guess that's fair to say. I think over the course of the story there are a couple of major shocks about Loki and his history and who he is. There are certain things that fans of the comics will already know, but hopefully you see Loki learn certain things about himself for the first time. So, it's a journey of self-awareness. As soon as he knows how powerful it is. that's when it becomes dangerous."On The Difficulties Of Acting In Loki's Cumbersome Helmet:
"The horns are amazing! It was the last thing I got to try on when I did the costume fittings, and for me it was the most important thing. As soon as I got the part, I had nine months to prepare. I read all the comics. I read right the way through the history and I thought the horns are, well, it's like Spider-Man's suit. Loki isn't Loki without those horns on. Initially we were fitted, and it was a conversation of how much does it cover his face? How much does he use them as like a weapon, or is it just a statement of intent? It's kind of a representation of his soul in some way, like, back off because I'm dangerous. And it has been. We've had to work with it because they are very heavy. And because my ears are closed off, I can't hear very well and it becomes quite claustrophobic. It's a strange thing acting in it, but I know it looks so good because I've seen it in playback, so it's worth it."On The Stunts And Fight Training Needed To Take On Thor:
"One of the first things I did when I came on board was start with stunt training. We thought it would be boring if Thor was a tank and it'd be boring if Loki was another tank and they were just running into each other. So we thought, if Thor is thunder and power and muscle and brawn, and he's got his hammer, Loki should be quick, like the wind. If Thor is heavy, Loki is light. We thought, what would be the weapon that Loki would be fighting with? So we thought throwing knives, because I think Loki doesn't like to get his hands dirty in a fight. He likes to be quick, efficient and lethal. It's like one blow - slam. I thought, if Loki could fight in a way that was as impressive as Thor's, but was completely different, so in a way, Loki is too quick and Thor can't catch him. I kind of conceived of Loki as a kind martial artist, almost a dancer. He dances his way out of combat. These knives are his way of keeping his foes at arm's length, but it's lethal. When you get one of those knives in, you're gone."On Whether He Is Preparing To Play The Character Again In The Avengers:
"I may do, I may not. I know in the comics I do. I'm hoping I will. I genuinely know nothing. I haven't seen a script. Kevin mentioned it way back, but I think it's a long way off."

Colm Feore On Set Interview THOR; The King of the Frost Giants Reveals All!
http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/colm_feore_slice_01.jpg
It’s not too often I get to interview someone while they’re in full makeup (http://www.collider.com/2010/12/10/colm-feore-interview-thor-on-set-interview/#). But when I got to visit the set of Thor earlier this year, Colm Feore did his interview in full costume and makeup as the King of the Frost Giants. If you’re not familiar with the Frost Giants in Thor’s mythology, I’m not going to spoil how they play into the story. But I think it’s safe to say they’re not going to be BFF’s with Thor and his friends…
And while I’d love to run an image of what Feore looked like as it was incredible, Marvel has yet to unveil his character and what he looks like. However, the trailer for Thor is getting released later today and if there is an image of his character, I’ll update the story (he’s the one who is blue from head to toe). Just trust me when I say you will not believe your eyes when you see what he looks like. And it was all done practically!
During the interview Feore talked about his costume and makeup (which takes over 4 hours and is 17 pieces), explains his character and the research he did to get ready for the role, his thoughts on Chris Hemsworth (http://www.collider.com/2010/12/10/colm-feore-interview-thor-on-set-interview/#) as Thor, and a lot more. Hit the jump to either read or listen to what he had to say:
You can either read the full transcript below or click here to listen to the audio (http://media.collider.com/collider_audio/Thor_Set_Visit/Colm_Feore_Interview_Thor_Set_Visit.mp3). Look for links to my other on set interviews and my full set report at the bottom of this article. Thor gets released May 6, 2011.
-
http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/colm_feore_04.jpg (http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/colm_feore_04.jpg)(when asked to pronounce his name)
Colm Feore: Colm Feore. Newspaper column, Norwegian water. Column of steel, column of virtue, just for God’s sake, Colm.
Question: I’m just going to jump in and say, “Oh my God” with the makeup. Could you talk a little bit about, did you know what you were getting yourself into and has it been a challenge doing this?
Feore: You know what, I didn’t really until they came to my house and they said, “We have to do an impression of your feet, your hands, your teeth, your head, well pretty much everything. And then could you take a kind of heroic pose? Because we’re going to do some digital photographs and then they’re going to copy this and then they’re going to make something.” And I said, “Well, okay.” And out of sight, out of mind. I didn’t think about it until I showed up, went to Legacy [Effects], and they had pictures of me, the design, this, next to half-naked pictures of Iggy Pop. Now, without telling you too much about myself, half-naked…me and Iggy Pop look a lot alike. I’m not going to tell you which half. But as you can see, I’m not wearing a lot of clothes.
So, I said, “Is this what it’s going to be?” and they said, “Yeah and this is how it works.” This outfit, this costume is remarkable for a lot of reasons, not least of which it’s about 17 different pieces. The only thing that’s real, that’s me, is from here to here. Everything else, and I mean everything, top to bottom, everything is fake. And it’s laid on in four-and-a-half hours by this genius, Ve Neill, of course three-time Oscar winner [for] makeup and Arin [Finger] from Legacy [visual effects producer: Digital Domain Vancouver] who sculpted and designed all this. And it comes in a variety of these pieces and they just put each one on and glue me into it, paint me blue and stitch me up and then wheel me out. It’s remarkable. And it takes forever. And slightly longer to get off. I’ve been doing a lot of work recently in trying to apologize to people for the blue eyeliner and the blue fingernails and the blue everything. Finally I just gave up. I just said, “Ya know, I’m in here every day shopping. Yes. I am a stripper. I work nights, okay? So if you don’t mind, just cut me some slack. Give me the bread, give me the wine, I’m leaving.”
http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Frost-Giant-thor-movie-action-figure-toy.jpg (http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Frost-Giant-thor-movie-action-figure-toy.jpg)It’s a little madness. But I kind of enjoy it, because it gives me a good four-and-a-half hours here at three in the morning when no one else is here, it gives me a chance to get into what the character is going to be. I start to assume the physicality and all the stuff that Ken Brannagh and I have talked about in terms of where this character sits and how he’s evolved. And, four-and-a-half hours later, this appears. From inside, it feels different to me than it looks to you, but it actually works as far as I’m concerned. I think it’s pretty scary and the voice…the voice is dropped. It really is. Clint [Eastwood] in outer space. “Get off my lawn,” is going to be my best line. “Don’t eat my dog.” Ya know? It’s going to be fun, because you don’t expect sensitivity, humanity, humor, heartbreak from this kind of guy, but the way Ken directs we managed to get all of that. So it’s been a wonderful synthesis of machinery, artistry and just good-on, old craft.
The red lenses, what exactly can you see? Is everything obscured?
Feore: Well, if you’re not a man in glasses standing in front of me with a tape recorder going like this, I can’t see anything. But if you are, then I see perfectly well.
How does this sort of restrict your movement, or can you hear?
Feore: Sorry, what?
(laughter) I fell right for that.
Feore: You did. No, this is the Nureyev of suits, this thing. It moves perfectly with me. It’s glued to me. I am stuck in it in ways that are really unimaginable…and indescribable.
http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/colm_feore_01-400x600.jpgHow do you go to the bathroom then?
Feore: You don’t. I lost four nails the other day looking for my penis. And they told me, “You’re not to do that again.” I said, “Well, four-and-a-half hours in, 10 hours shooting, an hour-and-a-half out. Something’s gotta give, because, and I’ll tell you guys, please don’t tell anybody else, it comes in two pieces. So, we get into the first piece. Then, layer, layer, layer, do all of this. Then we jump into the trousers. Then I’m zip-tied in to this bottom piece and glued into the feet. So you can’t get out. There is a zipper…somewhere. But it’ll cost you money to find out where. And to actually make it functional, it’s pretty ridiculous. So, I plan ahead.
Are you ‘a’ Frost Giant or are you all of them, multiple?
Feore: “A” Frost Giant? I am the King of Frost Giants. And if you’ve seen any of the Frost Giants, you know that I am, of course, the Napoleon of Frost Giants. We’ve got some massive, fabulous guys who dwarf me and come in at around eight-and-a-half feet, nine feet. But, no. Can’t you tell by the commanding presence? I am the boss. The music will be big. When I show up there’ll be a big storm, there’ll be wind. No, it’s worked out beautifully. It’s very articulated and articulatable. The face moves with me. I have every range of expression. And, I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to talk to Ken at all, but he’s brilliant. He’s brilliant for a lot of reasons. Not least of all because he’s been an actor his whole life. So he knows how to tighten the narrative of what he would do as an actor, so he can get inside and say three helpful words on a very tight schedule, an expensive schedule and just get right to the heart of the point. But he also is looking for most of it, here, right? It’s gotta be in the eyes. And if they don’t work, we’ve got nothing. So it had to be this expressive. [pauses for a scene being shot in the background] See this is way more acting than I’m being paid for. I’m much more subtle. They’re young, you see. Enthusiastic.
The work you’ve been known for in the past, like I love your Glenn Gould, but this seems like this is a totally new experience for you.

Feore: A departure? Well, this is not my first time in special effects make-up. I did a Stephen King thing years ago called Storm of the Century which was wacky. And the technology was much more primitive then. It was six hours in the chair doing all that kind of stuff. I’ve done rigorous appliqué make-up. Is it different from what I usually do? Chronicles of Riddick is space, sci-fi, looked a little sort of cartoony. I do everything. I just finished playing MacBeth and Cyrano de Bergerac in repertoire in a theater, came straight here to do this. They all feel, interestingly enough, as if they cross-pollinate, because everything that I’ve done in the theater, Brannagh is using. It was me and [Anthony] Hopkins and Ken standing around talking about, “Well, this is sort of like Lear. Is that sorta like…?” And we were using this shorthand for how to communicate effectively and immediately out here when it’s costing somebody serious money. So, to me, it isn’t a big departure. It’s just another job for which I hope I’ll get paid. As far as I’m concerned, the check doesn’t bounce, it’s a hit, I go home.
Are you able to walk around outside or are they being very careful with you?
Feore: You know what, I have seen…did you all come in this back hallway, and you saw me in that chair? That’s as far as I’ve got to the outside hall. I have a dressing room three doors down and it has a big dark curtain in it. That’s all I’ve seen for the four months that I’ve been shooting. I went to craft service today. I got a coffee outside because I did my electronic press kit interview at 6:45 this morning and I was allowed to walk in my street clothes to get coffee. I have never been seen outside. I have never seen outside. And I get it, because a lot of smart people have spent a lot of time thinking about the look, the design, the acting, the script and we’ve refined this as best we can, but we’re still working on it day by day by day. We’re refining it, we get new script pages and new ideas are coming.
http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Thor-movie-image-Chris-Hemsworth-1-600x399.jpg (http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Thor-movie-image-Chris-Hemsworth-1.jpg)We don’t want anybody to come off half-cocked and make a decision about what we’re only in the middle of doing, right? So if there’s shots of me out there, then somebody’s going to say, “Oh, that’s not the right way. That’s not this and that.” It has to be seen in context. And in the context of, as I say, confident [that] a lot of smart people have given it a lot of thought. So, no I don’t get outside and I’m actually okay with that. And I think it’s kind of fun. They were asking me at customs the other day coming in, I live in Canada, and they say, “What are you doing?” and I say, “Thor” “What’s it about?” “Can’t tell ya. Kid with a hammer. It’s big.” “What do you play?” “Ooo. That’s gonna cost ya.” I’m trying to get into the country and I have to be nice. And she said, “Well, I love everything you do. I’ll buy a ticket.” I said, “Good. May 6th, 2011, 7:30, Mann Chinese. Be there.”
Could you talk about the research you did when you found out you were going to be entering this universe? Did you read the books (http://www.collider.com/2010/12/10/colm-feore-interview-thor-on-set-interview/#)?
Feore: Yeah, I looked at a lot of the comics and I tried to just get an idea from that. Not necessarily specifics of what my look would be or what the plan would be because I knew the script was evolving. I then started the discussion with Ken, who had been in discussion with you guys, intimately. And that they’d pared it down. So I didn’t want to spend too much time going all over the map on this. I thought, “Okay, what do you really want?” And he said, “If you’re very, very good, I’ll send you a secret link to a secret site and you can have a secret look at a teeny little picture which will melt the moment you say ‘click ok’ and it’ll melt with your initials on it so you’re doomed if it goes anywhere else.” And I said, “Okay. Let me see that and then I want you to tell me what you’d like it to sound like.”
http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Thor-movie-image-Chris-Hemsworth-5-400x600.jpg (http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Thor-movie-image-Chris-Hemsworth-5.jpg)So now I’ve got the look that we’re talking about and I’ve got Ken’s idea of what it might sound like. We started talking about different ideas. We joked about it. I said to him, “Ken, you’ve really screwed me here. You cast Tony Hopkins. And I appreciate that it’s great for the movie, but I was going to play it like Tony Hopkins.” I was. I did a movie for Julie Taymor with him years ago called Titus, big Shakespeare thing with Jessica Lange. And I was asked to play his little brother. And they said, “Well, the thing about playing his little brother, you might have to act a little bit like Tony Hopkins.” And, forgive my teeth, but I can actually act a little bit like Tony Hopkins. I can sound like Tony Hopkins, I can actually do the whole, kind of, Tony Hopkins thing. And I thought, “Ken, I’ll give you Tony Hopkins, only, as you said, much cheaper.”
Then we’ve gone and cast him! And I said, “Oh! Shoot me first, then Tony will have to think of something else to do. He’s an actor, he can be stretched out. For me, it’s a huge leap forward. A poor man’s Tony Hopkins, it’ll be great.” But then he showed up and we were there on the same day. I didn’t have the heart to take his characterization, his personality away from him. So I said, “Well, what if I do an homage to Tony Hopkins, with a whisper of Max von Sydow, filtered through Paul Scofield?” Yeah, that’s about it. There’s a little something else. We kept adjusting the mix as we went and it actually worked out beautifully. So we started to assemble a palette of colors and sounds. And I said, “Okay. I will confine my research now to just what we’re going to be doing.” And Ken is so specific and so on time. Last December, maybe even late November, he said, “I’m going to be shooting a close-up of you on the first day of the first roll of film and it’ll be very important. And if we’d like it to be in the movie, you’d better be ready.” Usually it doesn’t happen like that. We shoot the wide, we shoot mediums, the actors warm up, they get a little bit familiar with the lines, they maybe even read the script. And then by the end of the day, we get it. He knew full well by that point the make-up might have simply melted off. So eight o’clock, in the morning, Friday the 8th of January, he was here. And he had a tight schedule. We needed to be done [with] that by lunch because something else was coming in, and so that sharpens your focus a good deal. So, for me, it was about sticking very close to the script, to the look and all our discussions about how it would sound.
Also, he’s a smart guy. He rehearsed us when it doesn’t cost much money, because there’s nobody else there really looking at the clock. It’s just a bunch of guys in the room saying, “What if we tried this? What if we tried that?” And Marvel has been extraordinary in responding to the things we just came up with. There was a wonderful moment where Tony and I, we have a confrontational scene. Originally, it was scripted, we were miles apart, because it’s a huge, heroic kind of thing. But we were in a little room rehearsing and there was something that Ken liked about the intimacy.
http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Thor-movie-poster-Thor-movie-poster-405x600.jpg (http://www.collider.com/wp-content/uploads/Thor-movie-poster-Thor-movie-poster.jpg)And I said, “Well I’ve got some superpowers, (that I don’t want to share with you here yet) but maybe I could use something like that.” And Craig said, “Absolutely, we might have something…” I show up the other day, we just shoot the scene. On the strength of that rehearsal, on that idea that we had, they built a launching thing out of the floor that would match for the sci-fi, go with the green screen so that we could go slam into a tiny intimate scene, about two guys going, “You know, your kid’s a fucking idiot.” “Yeah, I know. But you were an idiot once, too.” “Not that big an idiot. I might have to kill him.” “Oh, please don’t.” “Fuck you.” “Fuck you, too.” And then we go back to the huge big deal. We made this happen, they spent the money where it counted, it cost nothing to have the idea. But God bless you guys, Marvel came behind them and said, “This is a good idea. This really helps our narrative leap forward.” So that’s what we’ve been doing. You don’t mess around with Ken because when the ship sails, the ship sails. You get a couple of chances to be in the movie and, as I said, if I’m no good in this movie it won’t be his fault. He’s tried everything.
What is Chris Hemsworth bringing to the role of Thor?
Feore: Chris? Oh, he’s playing Thor? (laughter) Well, he’s very loud. And apparently, some people say, he’s very handsome. He’s not a tall blue. No, he’s charming. Beaming smile. And that kind of youthful, heroic idiocy that you expect from an action hero, right? No, he’s extraordinary. One of the chief things about him is that he’s charming. It’s actually hard for me to be really mad at him and growl at him, but I imagine he’s an idiot. And it helps, because we need somebody at the core of this picture to be the leader. We need to believe in him. And guys like me, I depend on him, you see. The more charming and the more agreeable and the more heroic he is, the more I hate him. And it makes sense, you know, “The world will be a better place when I get rid of you.” So, he clearly is doing a very good job. He’s sexy, I guess, after a fashion you’d have to tell me that, I don’t know. For people under a certain age, apparently he’s attractive. Fit. God knows he looks pretty good in the outfit. And he’s funny. That goes a long way. Charm is an intangible. Chutzpah, charm, charisma, that kind of thing, you can’t buy it. You either have it or you don’t. He’s got it in spades. And with his master Ken showing him the ropes and guiding him, it’s all going very, very well.
An In-Depth Interview With Chris Hemsworth About Thor!
The actor goes into detail about Thor's development during the movie (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=26491#), what it was like to wield Mjolnir and the training needed for that, as well as what he thinks about Marvel (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=26491#) and Kenneth Branagh...
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10300/THORZ.jpgOn The Challenges Of Playing An Iconic Marvel Character:
"There’s a lot of pressure with something that existed for so many years before you were involved and already has a fan base, but you don’t let that affect the way you approach the film. I approached it by doing it as well as I can. Whether it’s a small film, or something like this, it’s very exciting and daunting."On How His Banishment To Earth Affect Thor:
"It’s a big breaking point in Thor’s journey. He learns some humility. He starts out as a brash, cocky, young warrior and she certainly influences him in a different direction and gives him a different angle to look at life from. It's an ongoing battle within Thor, taming the berserk warrior that is in him,” according to Hemsworth."On How His Character Develops Over The Course Of The Movie:
"He has to be that warrior and he still has to have those elements. That’s what makes him Thor. But also, you don’t want to watch a guy for too long on screen who’s just a jerk all the time. You get moments of it, where it’s kind of cool and bad, but then it just gets old. You’ve got to find that balance, and at the right times, sneak a bit of it back in."On Working With Kenneth Branagh And Marvel Studios:
"It’s been brilliant! It’s the most character development, discussions on scenes and back-story that I’ve ever had. He always had the attitude that you should read books--read this, look at all these influences, talk for hours. Maybe it means nothing or maybe it gives us one moment in the film, and it’s worth it. That’s part of the fun for me, all that research and speaking to as many people as I can and soaking up all that stuff."On Training For The Role:
"It was a lot of protein shakes, chicken breasts, a lot of calories, food and working out. I’ve tried to get as much rest as I can, that’s the other third of the equation. I put on about 20 pounds, and then lost a lot of it since shooting, because I wasn’t eating that amount."On Wielding Mjolnir And The Difficulties That Came With It:
"It’s a rather impractical weapon in a sense. It’s got this big huge head on it and a tiny little handle. We talked about boxing a lot actually, I’ve done Muay Thai for years, which keeps you on your toes, but boxing is a more grounded technique. You talk about Mike Tyson, low to the ground, using your power through your legs. A lot of that influenced Thor, with big shoulder movements. It becomes sort of gritty, street fighting stuff at times. He also happens to have a big hammer in his hands at the time too."

Which Avenger Will Reportedly Cameo in ‘Thor’? (http://www.slashfilm.com/jeremy-renner-cameo-thor-hawkeye/)
[/URL]

[URL="http://www.slashfilm.com/jeremy-renner-cameo-thor-hawkeye/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+slashfilm+%28%2FFilm%29&utm_content=FaceBook#"]Marvel (http://www.slashfilm.com/author/russ-fischer/) has established a pattern of having characters show up in small roles before playing a bigger part in later films. The obvious precedent is that Samuel L. Jackson showed up at the end of Iron Man as Nick Fury, then had a larger role in Iron Man 2, and he’ll likely be an even bigger presence in The Avengers. Now there’s word that another Avenger (not Nick Fury) is going to be seen briefly in Marvel’s upcoming Thor. We’ve kept the info after the break so those who want to be surprised don’t have to know too much up front.
The Wrap (http://www.thewrap.com/deal-central/column-post/exclusive-jeremy-renners-hawkeye-will-cameo-thor-23531) says that Jeremy Renner will appear in Thor as Hawkeye. In some ways this isn’t new, because Jeremy Renner (http://www.slashfilm.com/jeremy-renner-cameo-thor-hawkeye/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+slashfilm+%28%2FFilm%29&utm_content=FaceBook#) himself mentioned (http://www.slashfilm.com/jeremy-renner-could-be-hawkeye-in-the-avengers-and-thor/) last year that he expected Hawkeye to show up in Thor. But he went back on that statement (http://www.slashfilm.com/jeremy-renner-says-he-isnt-hawkeye/) not long afterward, noting that he wasn’t even cast in the role at the time. But he was then cast as Hawkeye, fulfilling his first statement, and the idea that he’d be in Thor lingered as a possibility.
So this is the first vague confirmation that the cameo will be in the movie (http://www.slashfilm.com/jeremy-renner-cameo-thor-hawkeye/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+slashfilm+%28%2FFilm%29&utm_content=FaceBook#). The Wrap quotes a source who has seen an early cut of Thor, but there isn’t any specific information about how Hawkeye will appear, or in what context.
This is going to be a short and sweet introduction, but yes these are spoilers down below. Apparently they first appeared on the SuperHeroHype forums and they've been confirmed. "Thor," directed by Kenneth Branagh and starring Chris Hemsworth, will be released in theaters on May 6th of this year. So if you're interested to see what's going on in the film, feel free to read on. If not, then keep your eyes away from the remainder of the article.
-Movie starts off with Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings and Stellan Skarsgård in a van out in the New Mexico desert observing a phenomenon in the sky. This is when Thor drops to Earth... Natalie Portman accidentally hits him with her van (which she does again later in the film)
-We cut to a flashback of Thor back on Asgard. He's about to be anointed king by his dad (Anthony Hopkins) when two frost people or whatever they're called infiltrate the palace and try to steal a "casket" which Thor's dad got during a battle with the frost people on their planet.
-Thor tries to convince his dad to wage war against the frost people after they broke the truce with Asgard. Thor's dad refuses; Thor, Loki and 3 other soldiers (Jaime Alexander and two dudes) end up going to the frost planet alone
-Thor's dad comes to the rescue just as the Frost people are about to kill Thor and his warriors (despite Thor kicking *** for much of the scene)
-Inside his detention cell; Thor is visited by Loki...who tells him that his father has died
-Thor confronts the Destroyer, and apologizes to Loki (via a conduit with the Destroyer) about what caused him to be resentful of Thor after becoming king of Asgard.
-It was actually Loki who helped the frost people infiltrate the Asgard palace; Loki made a deal with the frost king in that Loki would help the frost king kill Thor's father in exchange for Loki assuming complete control of Asgard (this was a LIE)
Thor destroys the Destroyer by a blow to the head by his Hammer
-Thor shares a kiss with Natalie Portman before going back to Asgard to confront Loki--who kills the frost king just as he is about to kill Thor's father (Loki essentially did everything as a way to earn Odin's respect)
-Out on the rainbow bridge, Thor defeats Loki. He and Loki are hanging along the edge of the bridge and are about to be sucked into a wormhole when Odin (who regained consciousness when Thor returned to Asgard) comes to their rescue.
-Loki tells Odin that he "did this all for him" (killing the frost king and about to destroy his planet)...but Odin replies that he didn't want peace "like this." Loki realizes he failed his father once again and lets go of the bridge...falling into the wormhole
-Back in the Asgard palace, all is well. But we see Thor on what remains of the Rainbow bridge...asking the Gatekeeper (Idris Elba) what Natalie Portman is doing back on Earth.
-Thor had to destroy the rainbow bridge (with his Hammer), which was his only way to get to Earth, because Loki threaten to go to Earth and kill Natalie Portman
-The Gatekeeper replies with "She is searching for you." Final shot of the film is of Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings and Stellan Skarsgård inside a room working on their science equipment.
1.) The special FX in the bridge scene was obviously not complete...but I think it will look really cool when Thor uses his Hammer to shatter it. Most of the fight took place in the Asgard palace
2.) From what I remember we only see the helmet during the flashback scene at the beginning of the film
3.) Nope... Thor doesn't wear the helmet at the end
4.) Didn't notice any easter eggs. Can't remember if Hawkeye was shown in the flick
5.) Nothing really stands out with the dialogue...except the "What you consider magic is science to us" or however the quote goes in the trailer
6.) The romance bits. The comedy was fine...but I wanted the "intimate" scenes between Thor and Portman to end quickly
Loki is relatable evil. Everything he does is to earn the respect of Odin and even Thor. But he becomes corrupt when he finds out he was actually the son of the Frost king, and becomes King of Asgard after Odin falls into a coma
In terms of cameos, Stan Lee plays a truck driver who tries to pull the Hammer out of the ground (in the crater scene shown at the end of Iron Man 2) by chaining it to the back of his truck. He fails in the attempt.
Apparently, in a new issue of Wizard Magazine is a brief interview with Kenneth Branagh, who of course is directing the much-anticipated THOR movie. And another interview included, is with the great Anthony Hopkins, who rules over Asgard as Odin. And now courtesy of my buddy RealIronMan of Spidermedia who provided a transcript of the magazine, you can check it out below.
"I just grew a big beard, and they dressed me up and put me on the set", Hopkins says laughing. Though, he admits he wouldn't know Marvel's viking gods from the Minnesota Vikings, the actor flocked to Asgard (aka Marvel's Raleigh Manhattan Beach studios in California) for the chance to work with old friend & fellow acclaimed British actor, Kenneth Branagh.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/regerg.pngAnthony said he also was drawn to a script that mixed Shakespearian themes-particularly the fractured relationship between Odin & his sons Thor & Loki-with big-budget excitement.
More than a year and a half later, he's still giddy over the sets and costume design, and comes across as plenty humble for a man who walked among the gods, even if it was only for three weeks on a set.
"I didn't have to do that much," says Hopkins. "I just had to walk around and look godly, I guess."
"It just seemed to me that the Thor comic itself was carved out of granite," says Branagh. "You had the color & swish of Superman, & you had the darkness & mystery of Batman...but there was something massive about Thor."
As much as he's a god-he can travel through space & he has these superpowers & this super-strength - I think what's very arresting in the story is, to be paradoxical & contrary about it, the human element," says Branagh of the Shakespearian themes that have been the bread & butter of his own career.
"The human-like qualities of these characters presented in the myths & in the Marvel stories as gods, & the family dynamics between fathers & sons, & sibling rivalry & the competition for parental affection."
"In rehearsals, he (Chris) would stop me talking to say, 'Ken, Ken, stop, I have to have something to eat," recounts Branagh. "I said, 'We're breaking in 20...' He said, 'You don't realize, I have to have something to eat now!"
"A quick couple digits on the phone, and in would come this enormous plate of food which he'd just wolf down because he had to. If you're Thor, you want to keep an eye on your blood sugar. You've got a hammer & an angry Thor-you really don't want to be in the room when he's not eating."

Natalie Portman Discusses Her Role As Jane Foster In THOR!
The actress goes into great detail about the relationship between Thor and Jane Foster, what it was like to work with Chris Hemsworth (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=27831#) in his superhero costume, her experiences working on the movie and much more...

Thanks to our good friend RealIronMan of SpiderMedia (http://spidermedia.ru/blogs/ironman), CBM is proud to present the following excerpts from an upcoming issue of SFX Magazine, revealed here online exclusively for the first (http://comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=27831#) time. Thanks also to CBM's own Wolvie09 for allowing me to share this interview with the beautiful love interest of Thor, Natalie Portman.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10300/NATALIE.pngOn The Relationship Between Thor And Jane Foster:
"Well, Thor is exiled to Earth to learn humility and earn his right to be a leader. And I think Jane is definitely part of what grounds him on Earth. That's something Ken (Branagh) is always saying, about making sure my feet were on the ground all the time."On How Thor Compares To The Other Big Movies She's Starred In:
"It was amazing. The experience working with Ken made it very different, because he pays so much attention to character. It feels like you're making a small character piece, even though there was all this elaborate filmmaking going on around you. He never got lost in that."On What It Was Like Seeing Chris Hemsworth As Thor For The First Time:
"It was funny, because we filmed about a monthe where we were all dressed like earthlings, obviously. Him included. Then of all sudden we started shooting scenes where he was in a superhero costume, and it was a real shock. We were all amazed. The costume's really incredible."On Whether Starring In Movies Like This And Star Wars Draws Too Much Unwanted Attention:
"No, no. Anyone who ever approaches me has always been very respectful and sweet. And it's exciting to have people be passionate about what you do. That's the best thing you can hope for. And I'm pretty camouflaged. I'm small, so I camouflage easily [laughs]."

Joe Quesada Shares His Thoughts On Thor; Teases Captain America And The Avengers!
Marvel's Chief Creative Officer has shared his thoughts on an early cut of Thor and drops a few teases about some new Captain America and Avengers stuff he was lucky enough to see...
Here's what the former Marvel Comics E-i-C had to say via his Twitter account (@JoeQuesada (http://twitter.com/#%21/JoeQuesada)) just a few moments ago. While you'd hardly expect him to say anything bad about the movie, Quesada does bring up a lot of interesting points and teases that will surely continue to build anticipation for the downright awesome looking movie.

After 2 weeks on the road, I'm finally ready to break my silence. I have been to Asgard, I have walked the rainbow bridge & it was AMAZING!
I don't want to jinx it, but this is going to be the first super hero movie with tons of appeal for gals not into the genre.
I will admit, I got a bit teary in a spot or two. Branagh's vision is simply remarkable, Marvel fans will rejoice.
The cast and performances are wonderful and Hemsworth will be a superstar.
Cut I saw wasn't final and I don't say stuff like this lightly, but I can't wait for opening night and to see what you all think.
Also got to see some Cap and Avengers stuff, but my lips are sealed for now... OH GOD IT'S SO HARD TO KEEP A SECRET!!!!!
Okay, okay, listen close. So in Avengers - - oh god - - you're not going to believe this - - but just when you least expect it, out of nowh
Dang this 140 character thing! Ah, got to run, dinner's ready, I'll tell ya later.
Thor is set to be released on May 6, later this year, with Captain America: The First Avenger following soon after on July 22. The Avengers is currently expected to hit cinemas on May 4, 2012!

The good folks over at Comicus have landed a great exclusive in an interview with actor, stunt double, & creature choreographer Paradox Pollack, whose starring in Kenneth Branagh's epic tale of THOR. Serving notably as the double for actor Colm Feore, who portrays Laufey, King of the Frost Giants, Pollack speaks in great depth on his overall work on the film.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/PPr433.png
How did you get to work on “Thor”?
"I had worked as a stunt actor on I Am Legend, stunt doubling the Alpha-Zombie and during that film connected with the stunt coordinator who introduced me to J.J. Abrams on Star Trek. I worked on Star Trek as the Alien/Creature choreographer. My work was seen by a number of prominent producers and I was called into a meeting with Patty Whitcher (producer) Luc Etienne (AD) and Kenneth Branagh for a meeting in the first week of January 2010. After that meeting I was hired on as the movement director for the project. I was hired to work on one fight scene for two weeks and continued to get more responsibility as time went on. I worked directly with the principals Loki, Thor, Sif and the warriors 3 as well as Rene Russo in the role of Frigga. I worked for 3 months…"
What kind of training did you go through before taking part in this movie?
"I have trained as an actor by performing as an actor; I learned the skills of directing by teaching children and directing adults. My training is always simply to practice, and I have been in the discipline of daily practice of the craft for 25 years. When there was something I didn’t know how to do, I found someone who was a practitioner or if lucky, a master and ask them to teach me. Acting, dance and directing circus shows were the main skills that I worked to refine. Anything of value I have done; was done simply by taking a leap into the unknown."
Your job on “Thor” as choreographer director and movement director led you to work in strict contact not only with actors, but also with the director Kenneth Branagh. What can you tell us about your collaboration with him?
"Kenneth is a creative and respectful artist. He works in a focused manner and with deep consideration for the actors working on the project. From the moment we met he saw the value of my job and encouraged me to do my best work. As I did my job well, I was given more and more responsibility. He called for me by “Doxy”, which I loved hearing across the set.
We sat and spoke a few times choosing carefully the strategy for getting the best out of the cast. It was an honor to work with him closely these few times…A great man to work with…"
Can you describe, detailed as possible, the schedule you followed in “Thor”?
"I woke everyday at 4am and drove to the studio by 5, had breakfast on the Raleigh Studio Lot. I was on set by 6.30 every day and worked till about 8 at night. Kenneth respectfully ran a tight ship. During the fight sequences the stunt performers were in make up and prosthetics by 7am with at least 3 hours of make-up and assembly for them and I was directing aspects of the fight scene and coach the actors over the whole day and into the night."
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/PPr43312.pngHow many hours of preparation are needed to set a sequence and train the people working in it?
"For the stunt coordinator, fight choreographer and stunt performers many, many hours go into their work. I arrived after a month of preparation, probably 7 hours a day for a month. 240 hours of rehearsal fighting hard, with giants and then when I came in, working with the principles Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Rene Russo, and the stunt performers, I was putting in 6 hours a day of rehearsal in addition…for about 10 days before we were on set. So all in all we are looking at about 500 hours of solid work from a committed crew for the scenes that we will see in the film."
Which influences do you follow when you choose this or that type of movements?
"I look to the creature design. The artist’s rendering of the creature or of the character. With Thor I spent hours and hours looking over old comic books, observing the stances of the creatures and the gods in the story. I look at the mechanics of posture and attitude. I look then into the systems of mystical or indigenous mythology for the way in which imagination and the body come together. It all has to be shaped with and from the individual actor.
For Chris (Thor) he was a surfer, and a martial artist who had studied Muay Thai so I watched him and while he executed his movements I would call out things like, “what is the other hand doing while you strike with the hammer, trace the lightning, balance the arms”, “surfer’s legs”, and each of these cues began to sink into the actual dynamics of the expression of the character, to remind him with inner cues. With Loki (Tom) he is trained as a dancer and was very different and deeply rewarding What a joy to work with such a talented cast, working with these two was one of the BIG highlights for me."
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced working on this movie?
"I had a day of directing 250 extras as Asgardians. I kept them all warm and limber and in character … I was running around the set for 8 hours tirelessly looking after every aspect of their needs and the needs of Kenneth. At the end of the day exhausted, I got the first hug from Ken. It was sincere. It was a hard day of work."
In the movie you’ve worked as Colm Feore’s stunt too. Can you tell us about this aspect?
"Colm and I had a great day on set when he was being filmed by himself, looking out over the scene from his tower above and I was the only one there to represent all the action, Vic Armstrong let me play all the roles below, as Colm looked down from his royal perch. From that moment on we had a warm regard for each other and when I did his stunt work it was really a matter of simply standing and moving with the same level of regal abandon and virile intelligent sovereignty."
I’ve seen an extremely charming video on your website, in which you create movements and choreographies for an alien creature. What parts do the emotions have in a job like this, that requires a complete physical concentration on characters?
"My work is to bring the entire actor’s being into the role of the character. Their sensations, emotions; every bit of their personality is a resource to draw from. Emotions are the root of motion and feelings guide our inner life. It takes practice and more practice to find this relationship. We do this work to dig into the resources of the actor. It’s about learning how to play fiercely with the full intelligence (body/mind/emotion/imagination) and how to work under extreme conditions and still find naturalness."

We’ve seen one trailer (http://www.slashfilm.com/thor-trailer/) which was built from the same footage run last year at Comic Con, and then a Super Bowl commercial (http://www.slashfilm.com/thor-super-bowl-commercial/) which rehashed that first trailer in a brief 30 seconds. This trailer is much more centered around Natalie Portman (she’s an Oscar nominee, remember) and opens up with a pretty good joke.

The folks over at Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with the director of Marvel's highly-anticipated THOR film, Kenneth Branagh. Breaking down the trio of villains featured in the film, also seen in the newly released trailer (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/MsKyle08/news/?a=30354), check out what he had to say.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/Brnagh23.png
On Thor’s brother Loki, “A brother who is unhappy is a dangerous relative to have,” director Kenneth Branagh tells EW. “The story involves a clash with an ice planet,” says Branagh, “and the frost giants who live therein. They — as might be suggested by the name — are enormous creatures of incredible power who have been robbed of their power and glory by Odin, Thor’s father. What fuels a lot of this intense battle is revenge. This is an angry race, trying to get back at Thor and the Asgardians, the self-proclaimed guardians of the universe.”
The final villain is “an incredible war machine known as The Destroyer,” Branagh says. “This series of metal bands form a giant, walking beast and open to reveal terrifying firepower,” he says, and the ruler of Asgard controls it. “In the right hands, this incredibly powerful device — awesome in its killing quality — is potentially a creature of extraordinary protective powers,” says the director. “In the wrong hands, it is a nightmare.”

THOR is set to hit theatres on May 6!
Tom Hiddleston Describes The First Scene He Filmed In Thor And More!
The actor talks about his experience of coming face to face with a dozen frost giants on the first day of shooting, discusses Loki as a character and says he evolves into the God of Evil...
The following are a few excerpts from The Sunday Times' Culture magazine with the actor who will play the villainpus Loki in Thor! Check my transcription out below and be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!
On His First Day On The Set Of Thor:
"My first day, I walked into a warehouse in Manhattan Beach and there were five stunt doubles rehearsing a huge battle sequence, with 10 or 15 enormous stunt men, playing a race of frost giants. I thought, 'I am in another world.'"
On The Character Of Loki And Tone Of The Movie:
"Weirdly enough, I find a lot of commonality between Archipelago and Thor. They're not going to look the same, they're not going to feel the same, but, actually, both stories are all about family, and each character is wrestling with am external resistance to who they feel they are. It's much more interesting for me as an actor to go in with that angle - who am I?"
Loki: The God Of Mischief EVIL?
"Loki is the younger brother of Thor. In Norse mythology, he's the god of mischief. Then, later, he is the god of evil."

Chris Hemsworth Talks THOR, Mjolnir and More!
In this short, but nice Q&A session with the actor behind Marvel's highly-anticipated THOR, Chris Hemsworth speaks on how role has effected life, among other things. Check it out!
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/THOR%20CBM%20Slim%20Header.jpg
At the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo(C2E2), via Chicago Sun-times, the rising star of Kenneth Branagh's epic tale of THOR, Chris Hemsworth discuses taking on the role, and how it's affected his life, and more!
“Thor” must overshadow everything at this point.
"Absolutely. It does. From the word ‘go’ when I was cast till now, it’s all about Thor, whether it be press or filming or various pick-up shots. And then I go straight into “The Avengers.” I’ll be 65 and shooting sequels to both of these."
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/uploads/hEMSWORTH%20thR.png
Many folks who’ll come to see you at C2E2 worship Thor and you, and they’re looking forward to this movie. Do you feel like you have to be a certain kind of personality because of the character you’re playing?
"You just said it: They worship Thor; they don’t worship me. And you’re hopefully presenting in a positive way what they want to see of that character. And walking into the film, which had 50 or 60 years’ worth of history and a fan base that knew more about your character than you did, on one hand it’s very daunting. But at the same time it’s exciting, and you sort of look forward to the challenge."
How many times have you gotten “the next Russell Crowe” thing?
"[Laughs] A little bit. I love him. For me, he was my Brando growing up. And he was Australian, so there was an instant connection."
The hammer you use in “Thor” is pretty exquisite, right?
"Yeah. It’s a pretty unorthodox weapon in a sense. It doesn’t have the balance of a big broadsword. It’s quite cumbersome. But it ends up being sort of like a fist, I guess."
You got married late last year. Does your wife treat you like the God of Thunder at home?
"Not at all. [Laughs] She wouldn’t stand for that"

http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/article-1369783-0B49ED2C00000578-88_233x423.jpgOn casting Chris Hemsworth & Tom Hiddleston in their pivotal roles...
‘I feel with those guys like I did with [Kate Winslet as Ophelia in his 1995 Hamlet] years ago. When you’re seeing somebody who is going to make an impression in a film that means that their life is going to change. That’s exciting! We were sending them books on Scandinavia, or family dynamics, or sibling rivalry,’
‘I’ve been in the audience when the phwoars kick off,’ Branagh laughed. ‘He (Hemsworth) is able to bring to this god all the physical beauty and magnificence he can muster. He’s got romance, he’s got humour — and he’s got a twinkle in his eye. ‘He also has what the part needs; he can be quite primal. There’s a compelling mixture of things and he absolutely answers the brief of what a god/superhero should be.’
On the set's atmosphere with an ensemble cast...
With Hopkins playing Odin and Hemsworth and Hiddleston as his sons, there was a heady atmosphere on the set, Branagh said. He explained that the characters ‘love each other . . . they’re a close-knit, passionate family but they all have very strong ideas and it was interesting, this dynamic on set; this immense respect from Chris and Tom for Tony, who is sort of a god to them anyway’. ‘Everybody’s in this terrific opportunity of a film and they’re all hungry actors, and they were all going at it,’ Branagh said. ‘Think of tennis. They were playing tennis with partners who were lifting their game.’
On casting Oscar-winning Natalie Portman, who brought the story down to earth...
‘We delivered the script to her while she was taking a ballet class. She was eight months into preparation for Black Swan and prepared for Black Swan during rehearsals for us. I never rehearsed with Natalie without her leg being up over her head. ‘Any time I gave her a note, she was leaning against a wall with her toe over the top of her head. It was fantastically impressive,’ he added.
Approaching Thor as oncoming director three years ago...
‘I didn’t want to be bound in either the world of the gods or in some Viking-era earth. My starting point was that this should be a coming-of-age story about a hot-headed young man, entitled and empowered, dangerous and making mistakes, who is banished by his father.’ ‘I was in the middle of my Scandinavian period,’ he joked. ‘I’ve done my gloomy Dane, I’ve done my melancholy Swede and now I’m doing my naughty Norseman!’

Actor Idris Elba who portrays the guardian of Asgard, Heimdall in Kenneth Branagh - directed comic book adaptation THOR, talks about what was it like playing this great character and more. Check it out!

Talking to Guardian, Idris Elba shared some oh his thoughts on playing the all-seeing guardian of Asgard, in Marvel Studios' highly anticipated big screen adaptation of THOR.
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/gallerypictures/27366L.png"It's an extraordinary visual spectacular," says Elba. "It's different from anything else I've done; but at the same time, it's been pointed out to me that here I am playing a central, solid figure again – the one that people should trust. Take Stringer or Luther – that seems to be a common denominator in the characters I play."
When he was asked by Kenneth Branagh to be part of the great cast, Elba says that he little hesitated about playing the Norse god at the start:
"When Kenneth asked me to be part of it, I did find myself questioning race," Elba confesses. "But Kenneth hadn't even given that a thought. He just needed an actor who has presence and command, and felt that I fitted the bill."
"It was so refreshing – and a testament to him as an actor and director that his casting was genuinely colour blind. I feel very proud of being part of that movie."

Two New Major Scene Descriptions From THOR Screened at Kapow!
Heavy with spoilers, two scene descriptions for Marvel's THOR surrounds the aftermath in Asgard of Thor's banishment, as well after failure in retrieving his mighty Mjolnir. Check it out!
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/THOR%20CBM%20Slim%20Header.jpg
Following scene description reports (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/joshw24/news/?a=34949) from our very own Josh Wilding, at this year's Kapow convention, ComingSoon.net has unveiled their description, which offers in-depth details to the aftermath of scenes in Josh's report. With a heavy Spoilers Warning, read on below, if you posses the power.
http://media.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/Loki%202334.pngThe first follows on from Thor's banishment. Odin has fallen into a coma, known as an Odinsleep, consequently Loki has assumed the throne of Asgard. While he seems to have done so out of necessity, he has a sinister manner, reinforced when the Warriors Three and Sif come to plead for Thor's return from exile.
Loki, resplendent in shiny helmet and armour, and sat on Odin's throne, initially explains rationally that 'My first order can't be to undo my father's last,' a response almost accepted by the warriors come to plead on Thor's behalf. Before leaving, howevere, one of the warriors turns back, once more pleading the case for Thor. In response, Loki snaps and angrily refuses.
The second clip has Thor being interrogated by S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson after his capture while trying to reclaim Mjollnir. He is sat in a white room, apparently within the compound which has been erected around the hammer, while Coulson talks at him. Parts of this scene seem familiar from footage we've already seen, but this seems to be an earlier segment.
http://media.comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/Coulson%20e2434.pngAfter a brief period Coulson leaves the room, which should leave Thor alone, but it doesn't. As Thor looks back up, Loki appears, come to reveal to his brother that their father is dead, and that he has assumed the role of king of Asgard. The scene is an interesting indicator of the nature of their relationship. It would appear to be cordial, and trusting, at least at this early stage in the movie.
On hearing the news of his father's demise, Thor asks Loki if he might be permitted to return to Asgard. Loki refuses, claiming that 'The truce with Yodenheim is conditional upon your exile'. Given that Loki is the film's main villain, it's remarkable how sympathetic a character he is in this scene - no hint of things to come at all, even though he may well be lying to Thor about the possibility of his return.
Loki disappears shortly before Coulson reenters. Meanwhile, as Coulson continues to question Thor, Loki appears in the enclosure of the hammer, apparently unnoticed by the countless S.H.I.E.L.D. agents guarding and experimenting on it. He tries to lift Mjollnir from the earth, but in spite of his accession to the throne of Asgard, he proves incapable of budging the weapon.

One more interesting thing I found on the site was during one of the tasks, you're shown videos and you have to decide whether or not the subject is lying, and one of the women says "I'm not a Life Model Decoy, I Dont Even Know What That Is". Could this be a hint at the involvement of LMD's in 'Thor' and possibly 'The Avengers?

Check out this offhand description of what the "Warriors Three" is said to look like for Marvel's THOR (http://www.comicbookmovie.com/thor/) movie.
http://comicbookmovie.com/images/users/uploads/10616/banners%20and%20stiff.jpg
Thor will be first Marvel movie to go 3-D, followed by Captain America; new still image depicts Thor, Odin and Loki in all of their armored glory!
