If I decide to buy an '04 Evo VIII, and want to upgrade the turbo and fuel system, do you have to run a stand alone engine management system, or would you reflash the ecu? Some general pricing on the ems and tuning service would be nice. Thanks.

Nope the Stock ECU has been proven in applications up to 550+ whp. 1000cc injectors can be used and flashed with the stock ECU. Our price for flashing/tuning an evo is $425. This includes a dyno tune and street tune custom for your modifications.

Wow. You guys are really reasonable. Where would the stock injectors max out at? How about the stock internals? How much hp before you would need a clutch upgrade? Sorry for all the "what-if's", but I have found a pretty good deal on a low-mileage Evo, and have been saying that I would own one ever since they came state side. Thanks again.

I wouldn't go past 550whp or so on the stock internals. The stock injectors are 560cc so ~315 to 330 whp is what you can safely get away with. With the ability to tune the computer for virtually any injector you can get an injector now for your planned upgrades in the future. I have seen the clutch last for some time up to 50k miles and some that go out less than 5k miles, powerwise on the stock unit prolly 350whp or so; havn't really seen much info on the stock units ability to hold a tremendous amount of power.

350whp killed my stock clutch in about 3 months

You do a lot of hard launches?

Not really, I ran about 6 passes on the stock clutch after the meth/cams and drove it fairly spirited but didn't really abuse it. I think the increased torque from the methanol and high boost just wore it out. I did have 30k miles on the stocker though so it all depends on your perspective.
