Well, at least they're still using names instead of letters and numbers (other than the 911 variants, of course).

They need to go back to using numbers...
 Fuck that. Everyone is switching to numbers/letters.

"Cajun" sounds stupid, but I love the Cayenne, Panamera, Cayman, and Boxster.
I wish Acura would go back to using names.
They had some great ones, too: Integra, Vigor, and Legend.

Porsche Cajun mini-SUV confirmed, due to arrive in 2014

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/11/2011porschecayenneofficial004-250op.jpgPorsche (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/11/29/porsche-approves-cajun-mini-suv-due-to-arrive-in-2014/#continued) has officially confirmed what's been rumored for at least three years – the German automaker will build a small SUV to slot in below its highly successful Cayenne (http://www.autoblog.com/model/cayenne). With the working name "Cajun," Porsche wants the mini 'ute to provide younger customers another point of entry into the brand.

Designer Walter da Silva has apparently taken the lead on the project, which is expected to be loosely based on the Audi Q5 (http://www.autoblog.com/model/q5), and the press release (available after the jump) claims that the Cajun will have "typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility." Here's hoping... [Source: Porsche]

Porsche is planning a new sporty model range

Stuttgart. During its meeting today, the Supervisory Board of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, laid the foundations for continuous and successful growth of the company. The Supervisory Board instructed the Board of Management to drive forward the development of a further model series up to series production. Under the working name "Cajun", this efficient and sporty model will further expand the world's most successful Porsche segment in the SUV sector. In addition to the new Cayenne, which has clearly consolidated its market position as the most successful sporty SUV in the premium segment, the "Cajun" will also have a very positive impact with its typical Porsche features such as light weight, ease of handling and agility. As an attractive entry model in the Porsche world, the "Cajun" will attract new and even younger customers to the premium brand along with the Boxster, the market leader in the segment of two-seater, mid-size sports cars.

Officially Official: Porsche greenlights Cajun production for Leipzig

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/09/porschecajunroxster.jpg (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/03/16/officially-official-porsche-green-lights-cajun-production-for-l/#continued)

Regardless of what the purists think of it, Porsche (http://www.autoblog.com/make/porsche) found a winning business model with the Cayenne (http://www.autoblog.com/model/cayenne) SUV. And based on that success, the German automaker is proceeding with plans (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/02/15/report-porsche-to-hire-1-000-employees-as-it-ramps-up-for-cajun/) to build its little brother at its Leipzig plant.

The new model, tentatively dubbed "Cajun (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/cajun)," will be produced alongside the Cayenne and the Panamera (http://www.autoblog.com/model/panamera). The decision by the company's supervisory board paves the way for over 1,000 new jobs to be created at the plant as well as at its headquarters in Stuttgart, with the addition of a 1.54 square-mile expansion of the Leipzig, Germany, plant to begin later this year. Details in the press blast after the jump.

Well well well, what do we have here? Looks like an Audi Q5 (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/q5). But what of those black fender flare extensions? Are we looking at a Q5-S or even a Q5-RS? Considering that it was snapped entering the Porsche (http://www.autoblog.com/porsche) test facility at the Nürburgring, our sources suggest what we're actually looking at is a very early development mule for the new Porsche Cajun (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/cajun).

The baby Cayenne (http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/cayenne/) is slated to be based, after all, on the Audi crossover. And while these spy shots don't give us any indication of what the final styling will look like, it is the first glimpse we've gotten at the Porsche crossover altogether, even if could still pass as an Audi.

Once finalized, we're expecting a more aggressive shape from the Cajun, packing a variety of engines and transmissions underneath. It may be a while until we see the finished product, but at least we know Porsche is working on it. Probably.

'Tis the season, or so they say. But we're not talking about the holidays. We're talking about the season for cold-weather testing of new prototypes up in northern Sweden. After our intrepid shutter-bugs snapped an updated Mercedes-Benz GLK (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/12/mercedes-benzs-facelifted-glk-snapped-inside-and-out/) taking its licks in the snow way up there near the arctic circle, now they've caught this Audi Q5 (http://www.autoblog.com/audi/q5/) test mule.

Only appearances can be deceiving. Because while this may look like a Q5 – or even a high-performance Q5-RS – what we're actually looking at is a prototype for the upcoming Porsche Cajun (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/cajun/).

The highly anticipated baby brother to the Cayenne (http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/cayenne) will benefit from the synergies of belonging to the Volkswagen (http://www.autoblog.com/volkswagen) Group, hence the Q5 platform and – until we see otherwise – the Q5's sheetmetal. The major difference is in the wheel wells: bigger alloys, bigger brakes, and a wider track than the existing Audi.

The running gear (read: powertrain) is expected to be fine-tuned by Porsche engineers for a sportier attitude. We're expecting hybrid and even three-door versions (the latter to target the Range Rover Evoque (http://autoblog.com/land+rover/range+rover+evoque)), but for now we'll just have to gaze upon a wolf in sheep's clothing. Check it out in the high-res image gallery from the frozen tundra – you won't even have to put on your parka.

Porsche gives Macan name to new small sport utility [w/video] (http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/16/porsche-gives-macan-name-to-new-small-sport-utility-w-video/)

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2012/02/porsche-macan-sketch.jpg (http://www.autoblog.com/photos/porsche-macan-sketch/)

Don't call it the Cajun (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/porsche%20cajun) anymore. Porsche (http://www.autoblog.com/porsche) has officially announced the company's upcoming small sport utility vehicle will be called the Macan. As with the vehicle's larger brother, the Cayenne (http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/cayenne), the Porsche Macan will blend the seemingly incongruous worlds of tall-riding off roaders and low-slung sports cars with performance to match.

The Macan is the latest effort in Porsche's plan to expand its portfolio by 2018. While true purists may once again cry foul at the notion of another non-sports car with the Porsche shield on the hood, something tells us this Porsche will meet with far less skepticism this time around. The Cayenne and the Panamera (http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/panamera) have proven Porsche can successfully expand into segments beyond sports coupes without sacrificing its core principles. The Macan is likely to toe that line as well.

From what we've seen (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/12/14/porsche-cajun-prototype-caught-wearing-audi-duds-in-sweden/), the Macan will arrive on the same chassis as the Audi Q5, though with suspension, brake and engine tweaks suitable to the Porsche range. Rumors have also hinted toward both hybrid and three-door iterations as well.

The automotive world has been mistakenly calling the upcoming baby Porsche the Cajun for more than a year after Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn mentioned the name in an interview. Click past the jump (http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/14/porsche-gives-macan-name-to-new-small-sport-utility-w-video/#continued) for the full press release on the Macan name, as well as a quick introductory video.

Our spy photographers have given us our first clear glimpse at the upcoming Porsche Macan (http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/macan). While the test machine we see here wears some Cayenne (http://www.autoblog.com/porsche/cayenne) camouflage, there's little hiding the small CUV's roof line.

Based on the Audi Q5 (http://www.autoblog.com/audi/q5), the Macan will boast plenty of suspension tweaks by the minds at Porsche to put the crossover more in line with the sports car maker's stable. Likewise, while the Macan will borrow a host of gasoline and diesel powerplants from the Volkswagen (http://www.autoblog.com/volkswagen) parts bin, each one will be tuned for more horsepower than we've seen so far.

There's also some indication that Porsche may lift the hybrid system from the Q5 into the Macan's bones, as well. That means buyers would see a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder coupled to a 44-horsepower electric motor.

Porsche may also look to offer a more athletic three-door version of the Macan later down the line to more effectively compete with the likes of the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque (http://www.autoblog.com/land+rover/evoque).

I absolutely love BMW and I think the X1 is fucking garbage.

Ive been in one many many times since my wife REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY wants a small SUV as the next vehicle we buy. I really have no idea what purpose one serves over say, a wagon.

This new porsche looks decent, but i guess i still just dont understand the ultra small SUV/CUV segment. midsize car with an SUV look to it? da fuq?

My wife loves the X3, which to me is just about perfect size for a "small" SUV. My goal over the next 1-2 years will be to convince her that a wagon would be a better option.

Photo Rendering: The new Porsche Macan crossover could look like this (http://www.egmcartech.com/2012/05/16/porsche-macan-photo-rendering/)

http://www.egmcartech.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/porschemacanrendering.jpg (http://www.egmcartech.com/2012/05/16/porsche-macan-photo-rendering)
Later this year, Porsche will take the wraps off its newest model known as the Macan crossover. Slotted to fit below the Porsche Cayenne (http://www.egmcartech.com/2012/05/16/porsche-macan-photo-rendering/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+egmcartech+%28egmCarTech%29#) , the Macan will start production at the company’s Leipzig plant in 2013.
Check out more news on the Porsche Macan (http://www.egmcartech.com/tag/porsche-macan).
However, thanks to the internet and someone’s computer rendering skills we don’t have to wait until 2013 or even until later this year. An artist has put together this renderings as to what the production Porsche Macan could look like based on the latest spy shots of the compact crossover.
It was reported recently that the Porsche Macan Turbo will be offered with a 370-hp twin-turbo V6 and that the company is also planning a hybrid version of the crossover.
