Trade it in dude if you can get a solid trade. These arent worth much in the private market, which is a shame .... solid motor in these cars.

I just got $17800 for my '08 Coupe. Way more than it was worth. I also recently had an 09 SS Sedan (09 was the only year of the LNF Sedan btw, about 500 made) and got about the same with a lot more miles.

Dealers are only offering me around 12k at the most

babymobilss
2011-01-05, 03:34 PM
ya hold out for selling it outright, cobalts have no trade in value especially since they quit making them

Gimpster
2011-01-05, 04:05 PM
12k? Ouch... guess I got lucky.

I traded in my 2009 SS Sedan for the Frontier I have now (minus mods), basically an even trade.

I ran a gazillion tanks of e85 through it, 27* timing, ran basically infinite boost and pounded the shit out of it in general. I gotz my 19k I paid out of it :)

your trying to sell a "08 turbo" cobalt (which means its really a 07 didnt get off the line and sold untill 08, making it an 08, plus the fact that they kept the 2.0 s/c motor untill 09, and then and only then offered a turbo package due to the lack of good gas milage on the s/c.) for $5,000 off sticker price...really?! How stupid can you get? Only on kcsr I guess

Year-to-year changes
2007: A non-supercharged Cobalt SS was added to the lineup. This car is equipped with a 2.4 L naturally-aspirated Ecotec inline-4. The LS became the base model while the LT was marketed as a mid-range package; the top level trim was now the LTZ. In addition, as with most other GM vehicles that year, GM's Mark of Excellence symbol was added to both front fenders near the doors.
2008: Both engines were retuned for more power while retaining the same fuel economy. The 2.2 L Ecotec is now rated at 148 hp (110 kW) with the 2.4 L Ecotec rated at 173 hp (129 kW). Other changes include a new console, new steering wheel and new radio head unit that features an audio input jack. In addition, all models except the LS and LT1 now use a 5x110 wheel bolt pattern. The LS and LT1 retained the standard 4x100. In addition, the 2007 model year marked the introduction of a new 32-bit computer that replaced the 16-bit unit from 2006.
2009: The 2.4 L naturally aspirated, high-output SS coupe and SS sedan were renamed to just "Sport Coupe" and "Sport Sedan" respectively. The new Cobalt SS features a 260 hp (194 kW) turbocharged engine, replacing the Supercharged engine which was offered from 2006-2008. At mid-year, the fuel economy was increased to 25 mpg-US (9.4 L/100 km; 30 mpg-imp)5.5-7.5 km/lite city, 36 mpg-US (6.5 L/100 km; 43 mpg-imp)9–11 km/lite highway on the LS and 1LT, coupe and sedan models with manual transmission; now labeled with XFE badging (X-tra Fuel Economy).[6]XM Radio, side-impact air bags for improved safety, and MP3 player are now standard instead of optional. StabiliTrak stability control system is introduced. Other changes include the adding and removal of several exterior and interior colors. The new SS (turbocharged) coupe launched near the end of May 2009, as it was a facelift from the 2005-2008 version.

I work for GM and if anyone I knew , knew you were spreading this BS we would all be on you like a korean on a puppy.

GM only had a turbo SS in 08 and a SS2.4 liter N/A the SS/Sc was dead in 07. not 09 , and you act like you know it all too , thats what pisses me off. the lsj was dead in 07. thats a fact. your 2 years off.

now on top of that calling an 08 and 07 is completely moronic and I wont even address it with thought , since obviously you didnt get to your conclusion using any thought anyways. 08 is 08 doesnt matter when it was manufactured. the point is null , yes it was manufactured in 07 and put together then , it could possibly have been , but its irrelivant to the sale, and makes 0 difference.

on top of that , they didnt get rid of LSJ bc of MPG the did it because of heat soak you moron. MPG were actually better on the LSJ because they didnt have to run them nearly as rich.

ON TOP OF ALL that I have one thing to add.

QUIT POSTING INFO FROM WIKIPEDIA !

fucking moron.

when is posting from wik wrong kid?
the facts are there and i was right, so i had the REASONING wrong, and you got it right. now you are the car god. no.

yes it does matter when it was produced every car in the world is wrong. look at the stock manual that came with the car, then look at the sticker on the driver side door trim it will alway be one year back...im right. your wrong.

ROFLMAO. please someone correct this "KID" boy I have had my hand in this business since I was 3 , no shit. so dont play that game.

heres your first error. wikipedia. let me elaborate. wiki is made from idiots who can post whatever they want. I could go edit it now and put on there that 2 cobalts make a bananna sandwich......point made.

you only addressed 2 of my points , only the ones that didnt completely destroy you.

and you still had the reasoning wrong. so not sure what you were TRYING to say but you were still compeletely wrong. about it all , nothing you posted was correct you had it all fucked up spreading misinformation you had no idea about until you plugged it into google and clicked the first wiki post you saw.
its not that hard to figure out .

and if every car is wrong. that makes them all the same , so therefore. calling it a year older than it is , is therefore irrelevant.

I didnt think I needed to explain it but I see how truly ignorant you must be now.

well my car actually wasnt purchased until 09 so i guess that makes it an 09 according to powerplantf22 lmao...thats the kind of stuff im talking about this is mainly a forum for brokeass honda owners who obviously have negative IQ scores or they would be successful enough to make some money and know that modding a honda is about as effective as pissing on yourself

actually they got rid of the ss/sc due to new emission regulations, i had a ss/sc it got great mpg. it was one of the few cars that actually did better than the window sticker per motortrend or one of the car mags i could go back and find the vid but im lazy. i actually have a pic of a road trip I got over 40 mpg

I didnt like the transmissions in any of them , The way I drive (honda , nissan's and chevy's) doesn't really co-exist well with the SS/SC or turbo trans , that was my only thing about either car , they were difficult for me to drive. I mean I can drive a zr-1 vette , turbo hondas , s2k's , skittles , lots of different stuff and this car was still a challenge for me. other than that , I love these cars to death. lots of bang for the buck. I eventually got the hang of driving them but I feel like I will never be able to drive it nearly as smooth as the zr-1, or ws-6.
