Has anyone eaten there? How is the chicken? I was thinking about trying them out this weekend but wanted to get some opinions first

We used to go in a group with my fraternity and eat there. We also serenaded women with You've Lost That Loving Feeling.

Anyways, the chicken is good and so are the cinnamon rolls.

Best chicken in town, hands down. I love going there, but rarely do due to huge crowds and they won't let you make reservations unless you have a group of 7+.

Mos def not the best chicken in town, its good but not best. They cater to their own there as well. We went last week, (my wife, daughter and I), sat for 30 min waiting for our waitress while she ignored us to take care of two tables in our section with 7+ people that looked to be Leawood/Prairie Village royalty. If you truly want the best fried chicken in town, youll exude bravery and head over to Eastwood traffic way to Peachtree Soulfood buffet. All fresh made from scratch food. Chicken has a honey/salt batter that is terrific. Pair it with some red beans and rice, collard greens and fresh biscuits, and youve done well. Buffet runs about 12 bucks a person, where as Strouds is round 20 per person. Just my opinion, but an unbiased honest one.

Ate at original one before. Food is good but with no ability to reserve and extremely long waiting (I waited for 1hr 30 min) I doubt I'll go back again.

I don't care for Stroud's. It's way over priced in my opinion and the chicken just isn't worth the price or the wait. I would also recommend the Peach Tree. That place is fuckin fantastic!

I took the family to the one on Shawnee Mission. I wasn't impressed. The green beans were good, the mashed potatoes were instant, and the chicken wasnt bad but lacked seasoning.
Cinnamon rolls were good.

I hear the original one is where all the fame comes from. We have yet to go try it. We won't return to the one on Shawnee Mission. Smelled like ass in there.

The original one is no longer there. It was the location down in the ghetto just off of Troost. It was closed and torn down some years ago. Although to be honest, I wasn't impressed with it either.
Why not make fried chicken at home? It's super easy and WAY cheaper. If you or your wife can cook, try this

You can thank me later! Heh! This is the best fried chicken you'll put in your face!

Yeah the original one is gone. The one everyone refers to as the original is the one that looks like a plantation, has a big pond behind it and stuff. Pretty neat place. I haven't eaten there in years though.

I'd honestly rather go to KFC.
