After reading the stellar times the IS-F put up on R&T's Lightning Lap, I did some YouTubing for the IS-F. Jesus does this thing sound amazing with exhaust. It really showcases the fancy 8-speed autos amazing shift quickness too. For those that don't know, when in manual mode, the 8AT in the IS-F locks the torque converter in ever gear except for 1st. This effectively makes it like a sequential manual without automatic mushiness. Shifts are faster than most sequential manuals. Used 08/09 IS-Fs are now going for mid 30s. Hmmmm...

Listen to sequential downshifts. 355whp/354wtq. Not bad for a 5.0.

Why are their resales dropping so bad? Economy can't support the price?

I've wanted a white one so bad, ever since they came out. Damn being broke.

is the 355 with the exhaust work? i saw a comment that hinted the exhaust picked up 22whp with the baseline being 333, but it's youtube so who knows what tard said that.

the torque is nice, but M3's make more whp stock with only 4.0L, and they have just as shitty resale values

It sounds okay, but there is virtually no aftermarket for this car.

This is true, a lot of "talk" and vapor surrounded this car

For me, all she would need is basic bolt ons (don't need boost on it), white with some c/f goodies, and dumped hard on some nice wheels and it would be about perfect.

Powerwise, yes. You've got headers, catback, and an intake. Otherwise, it's just suspension, wheels, etc. Honestly, a mid to low 12 second car would be WAY more than enough car for me. It also has amazing handling straight from the factory. I'd probably just do the exhaust (not headers), wheels and more aggressive tires, wrap the roof in black, basically done. Just like with any M car, you need to be careful about what you do because you could actually make it perform worse than stock.

I think the resale on any $50K+ car suffers pretty badly. Most buyers have a really hard time spending $40K+ on a used car. My guess is these cars will hold in the mid to upper $30K range for quite a while.

Found some in the 30k range its tempting but a few years without a car payment has been great

Man, that car sounds amazing! There's nothing like the sound that comes from a V8. :headbang:

Last I heard, nobody could get down the track without wheel hop. Still a nice car, but nothing I would buy. However, it would be a great DD for someone not looking to make any extra power. A guy I went on a run with in LA had straight pipes on his black IS-F with black wheels. It sounded pretty damn good, but wasn't as fast as I was hoping. I guess I'm too used to having a lot of tq. Not many cars feel fast to me, anymore.
