I have a 1997 Honda Civic Hatchback I want to swap a B18 gsr motor into it.
First off I have tons of questions because although I have been driving a honda since I got my license I have only built a 94 mustang gt so I dont know where or how to get stuff for a honda build.
I recently picked this car up and obviously want to swap it but I dont have a gsr engine to rebuild so my first question is can you guys get me one? If so, how much? Also I want to rebuild the engine so I want the best of the best inside it. Top of the line rings, rods, pistons, cams, the works. How much? Do you guys even do full swaps? Let me know I will keep checking back here!

We get all our engines from hmotorsonline.com
A GSR Swap will run you 2999 + shipping (Approximately 200)
http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30009
Then you will need a 99 si timing belt bracket and rear t-bracket.
tb bracket ~ 60-70
t-bracket ~ 50-60
Recommended items to go along with the swap:
del sol dual core radiator -120
timing belt mount usually gets torn up, so those are 80 new from honda
Clutch 300 for an exedy stage 1
timing belt/water pump ~ 110
new radiator hoses 25
drive belts ~ 30
if you want to keep AC AC bracket is 150
PS is kinda iffy and depends on a lot of factors.
You also should just get an obd1 swap and convert your obd2 car to obd1 with a jumper harness 100
labor for the swap is 700
If you are looking to build the setup, you can also just think about purchasing an ITR swap.

Or we could just build a complete setup for you. It depends on what we have available @ the time. What your goals are for the vehicle, and most importantly, the budget you want to stay within.

My goal is to have a 97 hatchback that is quick (not necessarily fast) I want a good solid daily driver but if someone pulls up next to me on the street I am not totally embarrassed if we get into it (i.e. camaro, mustang, turbo cars, etc) I want N/A no boosted stuff that gets into too much air to fuel crap and more upkeep. But I know I want at least a B18C1 B16 H22a I would love to have a typeR but I dont think its within the budget. I am looking to get top of the line stuff no ebay junk or anything like that but I want to stay down around 4k if at all possible. Like stated above I am all about acceleration not necessarily top speed so whatever you guys recommend is what i want. Ideal would be 300 hp to the wheels. What do you guys recommend I know nothing about setting up a honda product or what mods work well with each other. I know good brand names but not set ups.

after looking at base horsepower on hmotors i realize that 300 bhp is out of my price range most likely so whatever you guys recommend I just want a quick reliable car. Let me know what you recommend.

ls turbo
:yesnod: ls turbo is a fun setup. seems to fit what your goals are as well. something quick, fun, fairly inexpensice, and reliable. RevLine has an ls swap in stock, and if you look for good deals, you could probably piece a turbo kit together for around $3000. yeah, it may seem like alot, but you get the motor put in, drive it stock for a bit. then buy parts as they come available.
if youre curious about this setup, ask chuong to take you for a ride. his car has this exact same setup on it right now, and i think its a very fun setup. so fun, im actually gonna do something similar to my 94 integra.

so this LS turbo motor is it just built for low compression or is it just the stock LS motor?

I really dont care I just dont want to spend like 10k in building something that is just going to be a daily driver that I just want to have some more speed to it

Well, a GSR swap is pretty decent, but the days of a "quick" honda with just a swap is kinda over.
Although you are going from a 80-90 whp engine setup in your hatch and putting a 150ish whp engine setup in it.
If you are looking to stay in the 4k range, I'd say the GSR swap is probably your best best. Even so, if you do get a GSR swap, it will possibly be over your budget. edit--- I've been doing price quotes all day, and I think you said you had a 4k budget.. I could be wrong on this?
3k for the engine
700 for labor
70 for a mount
70 for t-bracket
150 for the AC bracket
~ 30 for drive belts
120 for a radiator
~ 25 for radiator hoses
Then you would still need/should consider a clutch along with doing the timing belt/water pump while its out. (300 for a stage 1 clutch, another 150 to do the tb/wp with parts)
If you wanted to put the skunk2 intake manifold on, that would run another 250 for an intake manifold, so it's a little over on your budget.
So you can double the HP of the stock engine in your hatch, just a rough estimate on a GSR swap with all the parts mentioned above, you are looking at spending roughly 4900 + taxes. ~ 4150 if you remove the tb/water pump/clutch/manifold.

what about a turbo d16z6 or y8?
Then reliable 300+ whp becomes an issue. Also hg lifting. etc etc.
