First off, just wanted to give a huge thanks to JPL Transports (a.k.a. joesrcool) for delivering the car to me. Its an 04 TL 6spd. The car came with a Comptech exhaust and Progess rear sway bar. I will be adding more mods to give it a personal touch. I am going to try to make it look the best I can on a tight budget because I want to focus on the supra.

Here is my old daily for reference:

And I only have one picture of the new one:

A-Spec kit is in the garage waiting for nicer weather, and he's planning on lowering it as well.

The only real TL in my opinion. Too bad Honda didn't have the balls to make it RWD. If they would have done that with the third gen TL, it probably would have been a true 3-Series competitor probably more so than Infiniti's G series.

The 6 spd definitely makes this car much more fun to drive...as of right now I might actually have more seat time in it than SUPRADRIVER.

Thanks for the comments. I've wanted to get one as my DD for a while. I am just glad I finally got the opportunity.

As long as your referring to the GS. I still don't think I have enough, but I will still give it a shot.

That will probably be true for a while, that's a lot of driving.

Ya, gs... is it a type s since it has the 6spd? I always liked those cars and was trying to find one when I got the gs instead.

You can probably take the GS400 assuming you can get the TL off the line without any major drama. I found that with my old modded Maxima 5MT, launching higher actually resulted in significantly better 60 foots. If I launched at 2000-3000rpms regardless of clutch modulations, it would spin then bog, then spin again. It was solid 2.3-2.4 60 foots. If I launched at 5000-5500rpms, release the clutch just enough to get rolling, then quickly released the clutch (not dumping), fed it gas, while not getting overly greedy with the throttle, the car would come off the line in the 3500rpms range and I could get mid 2.1s to upper 2.1s fairly consistently. That was the difference between running 14.3s and 14.7s. Since the 3.2 in the TL has basically the same powerband, I'd think launching this way would be key. From a roll, the TL should walk the GS from 60mph on. Now if you had a 5AT, I'd say no way in hell unless you had a TL-S. The 5AT just isn't geared right and the TC stall speed way too low.

The three GS400s I've seen run at KCIR were in the 14.6-14.8@95-96mph range. I don't know if they had mods or not. I doubt it because not a whole works well on those cars except for higher stall TC and gears.

Nice purchase. I know I love my TSX. It's been a great car. The TL was my other choice. You done good, son.

Dave B - I'll keep that in mind.

No its just a base. They didn't start making the TL-S until 07. I just couldn't justify picking up a TL-S because all of the nice ones I saw were in the mid 20s and for that much I could've picked up a used 335. I was trying to get a decent daily on a budget.

Ooo 6 speed. Very nice, love that gen TL. If my current DD ever dies (300,000+ miles and counting hah) I would like to pick one up as well, just hard finding a manual.

Yeah, they are definitely harder to come by than an auto.

The ricer saw my A spec TL 5AT And had to one up me with a 6 speed version.

Fun cars to drive, but maybe I'm getting old. I am starting to like autos more.
