kinda- short story: neighbor posed as the land owner and called a towing company for a private tow of the hotrod my son and i are building FROM MY OWN DRIVEWAY. 3 days after I told him i'd found a shop to move into this weekend...

full story: My duplex and the neighbor's share a driveway. the new tenants (college kids) in MY duplex fucked over the neighbor all winter long by parking stupid and blocking the end of BOTH Lanes.

Understandably he wanted to tow them- (him and I have always gotten along). Today i get called by locals seeing my car on the stretcher wondering wtf?

Tow company stated he posed as the owner of the property and has the right to tow anyone. No cops were called to do the customary proof of property ownership, vin check etc....

The tow company was very surprised to hear that MY landlord lives in California, but they wanted their $245 to release the car- then another $40 to take it to a new spot.

The cops haven't seen the "document" at the towing service "proving" he owns the land- and dont care either- i got the "it's a civil matter" bs from them....

This all started because the neighbor found out the driveway is an easement for ingress/egress and no parking- he's taken that to mean that if his right to use both lanes of the driveway fully is impinged, then he can enforce it without any due process.

After i confronted him about it this afternoon, i checked the mail- guess what- letter from the city citing code violation for untagged car that must be moved within 15 days.. Mother fucker. cops still say that its a civil matter, and i can sue him and the tow service for unauthorized tow-

I'm out about $425 in costs and lost wages to handle this today - and it's good thing too- because the tow drive was seen taking it to his buddies garage first where they all came out and oogled it a bit. THEN he took it to the storage lot- pretty sure a non street drag car was getting ready to be parted out toot sweet....

can I get a Lawyer hookup to write a demand letter or else suing for damages and legal fees- hopefully a good powerful letter from a badass lawyer will get some satisfaction...

by the way- he served the kids next door with HIS statement he can tow anyone, but never served me. I THOUGHT we had a deal to let my car slide till the weekend..
