With all the build threads on here I figured I would do the same
I started with this, rusted, beat up, multi colored ugly POS.

after pulling front clip, started on yanking the interior out and getting all the sound deading up.

It was nice out yesterday so I rolled it out of the garage to do some cleaning... pretty much as it sits now, I test fit the new hatch on it last night, got the old 1/4 windows out.

I'm hoping to have it done some time in the next decade... I've still got to replace both 1/4s, patch the floor, have sub frame connectors installed in the floor, pull 306 out and start working on the engine bay...

It has already been slot of work, I'll just be glad when it's ready for primer. I don't plan on having it done anytime soon. I'll make a "build" thread when I start to put it back together in a couple years.

Just kidding... This is what I hope for it to look like when done though, I'll have a 93 cobra rear spoiler and front bumper instead of factory spoiler and that ricer Stalker front bumper..

Never got a chance to run ya with the 306, to even the score. It has been awhile since I've been out at the same time as you. One of these years when its done I'll re run you with the windsor motor in it.. lol..

No they never got back to me after the initial quote about setting up a date for me to deliver the car so I ended up having a local shop do it for me here in Sterling. Here's a link to my build thread if you're interested:

I've been slowly working on this turd some, it kinda looks like a car again.

Old 1/4 panel cut off the car

Replacing rotten wheel well..

New 1/4 set on to mark where to cut old one.

Inner fender cut out for new 4" air intake.

Most parts are cheap, I've got quite a bit tied up in the drivetrain of it, now trying to make the body match it..

I don't plan on running a huge tire on it, 10" slick on prostars and 315s on 17x10.5 mach 1 wheels. Plus I plan to put rear seat back in it so my son could ride in the back. Probly by the time its done my daughter will probly be old enough to drive it though (she is 2 months, lol)

Nice. love watching progess threads.

Thanks, I wish I had more time to get it done faster.

I picked it up from a guy in claycomo. I bought a door and the 1/4 from him.. You can buy the 1/4s online but they only go up to the body line not a full 1/4. the way I did it its less to weld, and with my experince in body work I'd rather try to hide a 6" splice then the whole length of the 1/4 panel. This is what I started with for the 1/4, had to remove it off this chunk of a wreck car.

http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj167/JamesB88/88%20Mustang%20Rebuild/IMG_1622.jpg

I've still got the do some metal work on the passenger 1/4 panel.. Then I'm going to set the block/trans down in it and put the intake on it and make sure its going to clear the hood before doing body work to it. I might end up having to go with a 4" hood instead of the 3" thats on it, I think it will fit without the intake spacer but not with one on it. Plus I'd like to get a windshild back since I think they look awsome.

Here is a couple of the engine that is in the car, just a 351w with trick flow 205cnc heads. I don't have the rotating assembly yet so not sure what CID its going to end up being..

you can have a back seat with mini tubs

JamesB88
2011-08-04, 09:39 PM
I've seen vert seats in them when mini tubed, I don't think I'll ever need that big of a tire on it, I would consider it to be able set the car down alot lower later on though.

I like the looks of the gt nose and cobra rear, doesn't look right to me with out side skirts. I'm going to put 93 cobra ones on it before painting it, ones I have mached up on it now are pretty rough.

Thanks guys, I got bored and set the engine and trans down in the car to make sure everything was going to clear. My hood will fit without the nitrous plate but intake hits with it on.
