My aunt bought a 1993 civic dx auto, the other day not running.WE have replaced fuel filter and plugs and the car runs now but really rough at an idle.going down the road she runs very well, but sitting there at an idle it drops rpm's and dies occasionally. When you put the car in reverse or drive it idles down then dies any thought's?Ineed to get this thing fixed by sunday so she can go to work.

Jerry rigging?? That, sir, is a documented fix..............
I would just try the usual, clean TB, IACV, blah blah..

whats the idle at out of gear? whats the idle at in gear? its not normal in the honda world but I have seen a tourque converter be the issue before because it was to tight. It would drag down on the engine at idle. another question is the load applied with the a/c onor off?

you are making making to much of a load at idle for it the aicv is not compensatin like it needs to replace it or clean and see where that puts you.
