Engine: Stock JDM GSR engine
Mods. Short ram intake manifold, Hy-tech replica header (picked up 7 whp over a stock exhaust manifold) open exhaust
Tuned on nothing. This was a basemap from my GSR setup that I uploaded. We can pick up more torque by changing the vtec engagement point. customer is not worried about getting the car tuned to squeeze the HP out of it @ this time.

Nice, I got one of them too!
Makes me wonder where I went wrong with my C5 motor. I had wayyy more crap and only made 180/120.

I really think every motor is different.
We've seen high HP GSRs, we've seen LOW HP GSRs.
Also have seen lower than average type Rs, and we've seen higher than average B16s.
So I think there really are engines out there that just make more HP than others.
To be technical, this GSR really made 178 whp "uncorrected" but since the shop was cooler on the day it was dynoed, the "corrected SAE" is only @ 170. Still, this engine with my old basemap made really good HP and the owner is really surprised.

I wonder what small bolt ons we can do to get more power out of this setup. What's next Mister?

That's a funny story actually. I had a Hondata S200, but it was tuned on Crome. Lol. Ben from Nu Image tuned it.

You had the S200 laying around but used Crome? lol... was it the old school crome or crome pro? I don't know much about tuning software, but I would assume if it were the old crome, then that mightve been the majority of your issue... that or the tuner wasn't all that great (not trying to step on toes here) or maybe a combo of both?

I would say it wasn't Ben. He was the one that tuned my stock LS turbo setup to 325whp on pump gas.

Nah, Ben was a good tuner. I believe he had a stock ITR bottom end setup that netted 200 whp.
Cool guy to deal with.
Nah it was Ben. I'm thinking it was more of a motor issue than a tuning issue. My motor stock made that same power. I then added Skunk2 PRO 1 cams and made the same with a shittier powerband.
He tuned it both times when it was stock and with the cams.

I think he meant it wasn't Ben, as in it wasn't Ben's fault that it made lower power.

I wasn't trying to blame Ben.
