I got your back, Curtis. I'll keep my camera in-hand for optimum photo taking latency.

I may not be able to make it due to the Marine Corps owning my soul that weekend. I'll see what I can do, though.

BTW, Whose sexy black Third-gen RX-7 is that? I thought I knew the majority of the FD owners in the area...

Is that Amin's car without the front bumper? I haven't seen that guy in ages... I might have to come out to this meet.

That FD is actually montego blue. The owner's DD is a STI so the FD doesn't come out to play much.

And yes, that's Amin's Protege.

i already know i can break 100 hp in my crx, hell i think i still got the sheet from a dyno in okc when my b16 was completely stock.

On the west side of New Hampshire, between 9th and 10th st. You can't miss it

Since I'm here though, I'll just let everyone know the rx7 isn't running. A shop (that I will not name) is taking piss fuck long on making an extremely simple bracket that I drew very detailed plans out for. How annoying.

I will probably still be there in my DD camry though, with my puppeh

 It was fun meeting everyone today and hanging out for a while. Sorry I didn't go out to the Overkill dyno day, me and my girl friend opted for home-made tacos and pool instead.

Next time maybe I'll have the rx7 running and I'll be able to play around a bit

:lol2: I'm not surprised. Their dyno looks pretty janky.I normally don't respond to these comments but in this case if you don't recognize what your looking at then best to not comment. Oil and rubber from a walk in car the night before don't make it work any worse.

As for the machine itself, look up Dyno Dynamics on discussion boards and tell me. Janky is where some inertia brands are at, not a load cell unit like this one.

Heard the dyno read hella low...... 500+ hp cars only laying down 3-4 hundred...... Anyone else get on the dyno and notice it too????How do you know the other units aren't reading high?

General calculations say it only takes 400 rear wheel HP in a RWD car weighing 3000lbs to get a low 11 high 10sec quarter mile. And... 125mph trap speeds in any drive wheel configuration car with a manual trans can be had with the same whp and weight. So, you do the math. From customer cars I can tell you my dyno is pretty damn accurate REAL WORLD vs track times and trap speeds. Cars that can't run the number with a given power output off the dyno have a problem or the dyno is making them feel like heros. No other answer.

That's why I always tell my customers who complain about power numbers to not worry, just run the car and they will see the power is there, it's just more a truer representation than other dynos can give.

PS: I always thought you were supposed to understate your HP numbers in the world of street cars??

i wasnt trying to talk shit or anything. i was just wondering because my buddy owns the silver ek hatch and it was at revline not even a week ago and put down 480ish on 14 psi and then he said he only pulled about 350ish on this one and ive heard the one at revline called the "heart breaker". i was just wondering. Thats all.

Thats all.I wasn't irritated a you at all. Your talking about Sheldon right? He said he logged some wheelspin right at the top of his run. I dunno, it looked like there was some jumping around on the graph so I'm sure he gave up some there. I can tell you that we do have about the most conservative dyno around. Period. It's the way it measures HP is all. I can also tell you that if you use mathematical calculators online my dyno almost matches them perfectly. I had a Mustang put down 388 to the tire run 11.56@121 and some change. This is what a car with x amount of weight, x amount of power and a decent setup SHOULD run around. I have a customer with a 99 Camaro with a 150,000 mile never had a valvecover off LS1 in it and automatic. Has headers, LS6 intake and tune. Made 304 on my dyno. With 3.73 gears, converter and rear suspension went 12.46@109.xx. Right about where the numbers say it should if the drivetrain is working right. Only telling you this so you can understand why I feel that my dyno puts out real world numbers. A good example is a customer car made xx HP on my dyno, ran a time commensurate with those numbers and promptly put down damn near 80 more hp on another dyno without any tuning changes. Using their HP numbers the car should had a higher trap speed than it did.

PS: In reality it is a moot point. A dyno is a measuring device for TUNING. Arguing over HP from dyno to dyno at different places on different days is not a winner anytime. I tell all my customers that what really matters is on track performance and did that little graph climb as we tune it.

PSS: As I've always said: I would think street racers the world over would want to pull on my machine so that they can brag about how LOW their HP is without lying. LOL

A dyno is not where the car should shine, it's on the track. So Overkill is a good shop, my personal mechanic told me to go to them when I tune the supercharged Cobra. But from what I've seen they are a great shop and I have personally been around a 408w stroker Mustang that ran flawlessly and it was built/tuned by Overkill

Chuong has a Dynojet, Overkill has a dyno dynamics unit. Just like a Mustang dyno they will always read lower than a dynojet which typically reads lower than a Dynapac. In the end, wheel spin or not the civic would have had lower hp unless they tweaked the correction factor to make it read more like a dynojet, but in the end...who really cares?
