The house was flipped due to foreclosure so there has been a lot we have had to be address. No ceiling fans, no backyard landscaping, etc.

The next project was to address the kitchen. We had these white tile countertops that would be a nightmare to clean, especially in the grout area. We decided it was time to replace the countertops with Quartz, we went through SEARS to subcontract it. Lots of shady businesses here in Vegas and SEARS was highly recommended due to high quality assurance.

Faucet and backplash Tuesdays and Wednesday!

Now for pics:

I'd like to thank John for the recent house mods. All paid for by our tax returns

In all seriousness, it's good to set a timeline for a project, see where all the money is going and ultimately seeing it completed

New Moen faucet! It was a nice simple design that we felt was going to match what we had in the kitchen.

How does quartz compare to granite price wise?

Buford
2011-05-17, 10:39 PM
It was $1500 cheaper.... the man made stuff was $1500 cheaper than quartz. Granite is too pourous for our usage so we went with Quartz. The fake stuff looked good but wanted the quartz.

Example... not actual prices.

Granite - $8,000
Quartz - $6500
Fake stuff - $5000

Yeah I don't like how pourous granite is. You spill the wrong thing on it and you trash your countertop.

That's about right. I'm not good at math.

I believe they put a sealer on Granite but yea, still not as good as Quartz for preventing issues. The fake stuff is obviously not porous.

Thanks bro! We paid $174k. 2005 home, 4 br, 3 bath, 3 car garage and a big backyard for Vegas. and yes, it's a good time to buy out here. Since this was the first city hit economically, it's leveled off over the past year or so. You can get a 2005-2007 home for a steal.

If you see any spots the look like powder anywhere, this is because the quartz had exploded during polishing. Quartz is a bitch, lots and lots of water. Have the company come out and fill them, most companies fill before they leave the shop. Well I do anyways, but you would be surprised the hack jobs some granite companies install lol.

So quartz is about 20% cheaper.

Yeah I don't like how pourous granite is. You spill the wrong thing on it and you trash your countertop.

SEALER SEALER SEALER. I RECOMMEND DUPONT.
The more porous, the more important a good seal is applied. I stress this to customers. Had a lady recently after My crew had installed a kitchen, call the office bitching about she sat some chicken on it and the grease soaked through and stained the stone. She was advised many times throughout the whole sales process to purchase the daltile package. She said she would get her own lmao. 15 year warantee, Buford I would look into this, and quartz is covered as well.
Dupont makes the best natural stone sealer.

You can buy it from daltile direct. Their site is down atm though.
