View Full Version : read updated rebuilding an hks turbo?

i noticed u guys are one of the dealers for hks and was wondering if u can rebuild my turbo it has some shaft play but i dunno if its real critical or not the turbo i am not so sure what type it is but supposely its rated to hold 300-400 whp if that helps any its an hks turbo that goes on my 240sx with an sr20det swap message me back if ur able to or not and if u can could i get a quote on approximately how much it might be thanks

If you have a model number for the particular turbo I can check with HKS USA on a price and time it will take for the repair.

right on ill see if it has a model number anywhere and if it dont think i can just run by the shop and see if u guys can figure out what type of model hks turbo it is heres some pics of it but not good quality

i saw this on ebay it looks exactly like mine he says its a HKS gt 2530 T 25 ball bearing turbo

ok i dont think my turbo is the problem has little to no shaft play and from the looks of the inlet i might be getting blowby so ya probably got some bad piston rings dunno yet but ill do a compression/leakdown test and find out but thanks 4 trying to help me out

Also check the plugs for burning oil as well, if the seals on the turbo are gone you can get that fixed here in the states w/o having to have HKS Japan take care of it.

ya i see. well i took off the turbo and noticed the front housing said hks but the back said garret so i assume that u can use garret seals to if it were leaking

Exactly, most of the internals are Garrett....if I remember correctly HKS just machines their own housings, don't think they do the internals at all.

icic well ya ill pull the spark plugs and see what i find and while the spark plugs are out mine as well compression test it :thumbsup:
