Be careful down there guys. I normally have someone looking out for me while shooting and will make sure this is the case always from now on.

This isn't the first I've heard of this happening. Be careful folks.

What did he expect shooting at the bottoms at night by himself.

Dang that's a bummer.

Moral of the story... GET INSURANCE!

Hopefully he was covered considering he had $20,000 worth of gear with him.

I'd never be in any of these isolated parts of town without carrying.

He probably did have insurance.

I find it odd that the details are very generic. No description of the guy, and no description of the car other than green mid-sized sedan?

Seems convenient.

$20k in gear is quite a lot. I wonder what he had?

And yeah, be careful fellas. And If you have that much in gear, get it insured, and hand it over if you're ever in a similar situation.

Shooting at night: not necessarily bad
Shooting alone: not necessarily bad
Shooting in a 'rough' part of town: not necessarily bad.

Put all those together and frankly, you are asking for trouble. If you are absorbed in making that shot, you won't have the situational awareness that you need to avoid problems.

Be careful out there, times are getting tougher and people are getting more desperate.

About a 5 block radius from my campus is apparently gang initiation week..

Usually 7-8 14-18yr olds (lulz) one usually "armed" accompianed by 8-9 20-30yr olds behind them. Gillham park (no shit) Plaza park and the Kemper park. About 4 of my friends and around 14 total kids from my school have been robbed within the week.

So be careful.

This is why I generally open carry down there while shooting, especially at night. I WANT people to see that I have a gun on my side down there when I have several grand in camera gear on me!

I just have all my stuff insured. That way i can just hand it over. And as a bonus i get brand new shit as a payment for my troubles.
