Default Thinking of selling my STi and my 4runner what should I get?

Well, my STi with 150k is getting to be a maintenance nightmare, transmission just grenaded on me. I think Im done with it, I also have a high mileage 2002 4runner that I use to haul around my kayak. Im wanting to sell both, consolidate in to one vehicle.
I know with a roof rack most cars can carry a kayak.
Needs to be fun to drive, fairly quick and reliable.
here is what Im considering.

Volkswagen Golf R

Ford ST (RS is probably not in my price range)

Chevy SS 6sp/6.2l

Part of me is really leaning towards the Chevy SS total sleeper, fairly roomy, cheap maintenance.

Any other options I should consider?

You broke the indestructible 6 speed? Wow.

Out of those 3 I would choose the SS. But I guarantee you're going to miss the STi.

A used SS manual is going to run in mid 30s unless it has a ton of mileage on it so I don't know why an RS wouldn't be in your range.

Yap, properly broke too, even put a hole in the case.

I admit it took a lot of abuse in its lifetime, lots of launching, flatfoot shifting etc etc.

I have seen them with 50k going for $30,000.

Im putting $30k as my limit. Also thought about getting the caprice PPV, much less creature comforts and cant get those with a six speed, but can get them significantly cheaper.

V2 CTS-V's are dipping into the upper $20k range. Not knowing what year your 4 runner is, I'd probably keep it for a winter car unless it's worth $10k+.

I left way too late, roads were empty, massive wind gusts was making driving pretty sketch. It was rowdy!

Again, I am wanting to consolidate to one vehicle. I have also thought maybe a S4? but Id like to stay away from maintenance costs.

I know. I was there in early July and it was fine. A few weeks later and we would have been hosed. I won’t be back until spring next year.

Stinger?

Saw one on the road the other week and was even more impressed than what I'd seen in pictures.

While I like the specs and sorta like the look, I still just have this stigma issue of it being a Kia.
I know they have improved in the quality department dramatically in the past 10 years, but I cant see myself in a Kia

I'd go GTI over Golf R. R's are notorious for electrical problems. GTI's are fairly solid and you can buy new in your price range.

Or go for the SS. CTS-V's are nice, but you'll be buying a lot older and higher mileage car. If you want to stay away from the maintenance, then buy a newer car.

This. I really like mine and its been a great daily. If you do one, do a 2013+.

I think with a GTI Id be missing the power. Part of me is also thinking Im done with little sport cars. Im getting old, Im wanting something comfy, fairly luxury oriented yet can haul some ass. The SS seems to check all those marks. Im even considering not getting the manual transmission, mostly because they are impossible to find.

$30k can get you an under 60k V2, probably even 2011+ If you look. Then you're waaaay ahead of the SS.

Plus, dudes love caddys.

No one likes impalabus.

Not a huge fan of CTSVs tbh, if I could find a CTSV wagon I might go for it but still out of my price range. I want a warranty, certified preowned. I dont need 500+ hp either. A bit over 400 is is just perfect.
Also everyone knows a CTSV when they see one, the SS not so much, one of the big reasons I like it, complete sleeper

I would get something like an RS4 over a Golf R hands down.

Evo X

CTS-V or Vette/Keep 4Runner

If you buy a Ford ST you're even gayer than you actually are.
