Project "mini club " underway... - KCSR

Well, today I decided to finally start painting the " party room." I got tired of looking at the tan color, so decided to throw some color down there. The room is around 14x19 so the 1st gallon is just about gone. The plan is to do the 2 side walls the same color and then contrast it with another color. Currently there is a pool table, dart board, weight machine and home stereo in there. Gonna relocate the weight machine and build a DJ table in the back corner. I also want to add some lighting/small fog machine as well. At some point, I want to add a small bar as well. Gonna turn it into a " mini club "

Anyway here are the first pics of what will be quite a project

I am no professional by any means. If you are referring to the areas on te ceiling and the back wall, The ceiling will be getting redone in a darker color. Same goes for the floor trim. On the back wall, I used 2 strips of 2 inch masking tape, so the paint you see back there is on the tape. Overall, I think it turned out pretty well. The wife likes it too

forgot to add, I wasn't done yet so there are some areas that hadn't been painted yet

i was only kidding, but yeah I was referring to the ceiling w/ paint on it. Hope it's not too dark w/ the ceiling going dark, but fuck if you think so, you can always paint it again.

This is only the second time I have painted something in this house, so I am learning

Not sure on the ceiling , might change it to a lighter color like a sky blue. Just have to see what it looks like after all the walls are done. I am always open to contructive criticism/suggestions as any type of home improvement is new to me. I was a single guy in the Army, so i always lived in the barracks.....

i would leave the ceiling white for sure, but would get rid of the popcorn in favor of knockdown. It will change the room a lot in itself.

however you are trying to go for a "club" feel, which is odd in a house, but shit do whatever you want. Just be ready to take it back to "normal" before you consider trying to move.

Shit I lived in base housing a lot too, 2.5 years on okinawa in a cement building w/ whitish paint will drive you crazy.

no need to tape off walls like that either, just the top of the trim. Just go slow, and cut in the lines by hand. You will get better with time, but you have to learn at some point. Ceiling lines that aren't "perfect" are the easiest to notice.

Thanx for the tips. We plan on living here for at least the next 15 years until all the kids are gone ,so plenty of time to change this room around another 2-3 times

We entertain friends and such all the time, so we want to do something that puts a little different vibe in there. The tan/white combo just seems kinda boring.
