'Mortal Kombat 11' Fans Are Freaking Out Over Two Scorpions

Something went wrong. Please make sure you added the video correctly.

Video URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoTams2yc0s

NetherRealm Studios provided an epic look at Mortal Kombat 11 and long-time fans of the fighter were instantly enamored with the hellish new look. Though the trailer as a whole was exciting, fans couldn't help but to be enthralled by a seemingly tale of two Scorpions.
As seen in the video above, we see an epic fight pitting Raiden vs Scorpion. At first it looked like business as usual, until Raiden began to transform into a more terrifying version riddled with menacing red lightning.

Raiden wasn't the only one to undergo changes, Scorpion did as well - though less overt. When the two went head-to-head, Raiden took the victory until Scorpion was joined by another: Scorpion. Weird right?
Fans immediately took to social media to rave about what it was like to see the two on the screen, while others offered their theories on what it could mean:
The second Scorpion ends up taking Raiden out and then a mysterious woman makes her way onto the screen, seen interacting with a huge hourglass that seems to be flowing in reverse. Fans of the series have already begun speculating, stating that the new game will center around some form of time-warp. This wouldn't be the first time the series has done this, it was also apparent in the 2011 reboot.

‘Mortal Kombat 11’ Premium Edition and Season Pass Details Leaked

We’re still reeling from the Mortal Kombat 11 announcement during last week’s Game Awards. But we’re not sure what shocks us more -- the early 2019 release date or the fact that MK is finally Nintendo Switch bound.
Get ready for more good news. Thanks to a listing from an Italian GameStop website, we’ve got the first details on the premium edition for Mortal Kombat 11, which should release on the same day as the standard one.
At the moment, the listing is still up and there are some things that are easy to spot. For example, there's the returning Kombat Pass, in which six more characters will be introduced -- possibly a mixture of new faces, veterans and maybe even a guest star or two. (This isn't including the Shao Khan pre-order bonus that was included in the trailer, which you can see above.) There’s also a Battle Pass which will include six others.
The Mortal Kombat fansite Test Your Might has translated all the details from the listing, which you can find below:
Mortal Kombat is back and is more fit than ever in this new and fantastic evolution of the iconic title. Now you can customize the variants of your fighters down to the smallest detail, gaining unprecedented control over the aesthetics of the characters. The new graphic engine renders in the smallest details every crushed skull and torn heart, immersing yourself completely in the action of the most bloody scenes. In addition, the new list of fighters includes unpublished characters and the Klassics of the series, protagonists of fantastic movies in the story mode of the epic saga that has been going on for more than 25 years.
  • New game engine, with even more bloody and bloody scenes
  • New personalization system, with clothes, accessories and move sets never seen before
0comments
  • New Fatality as well as a new GoreTech system to make the performances even more brutal
  • Very strong multiplayer component, entirely oriented towards the esports: personalization systems, daily news, constantly updated rewards and an improved matchmaking
The Premium Edition includes:
  • Steelcase
  • Kombat Pass: 6 characters & 6 Battle Pass
Some of these things sound, as Shang Tsung would say, "excellent," including the return of Klassic characters (probably with the Kombat Pass or Battle Pass -- and that might explain why the trailer has two Scorpions), the GoreTech system and the customization options.
WB Games hasn’t confirmed these details just yet, but they’re on GameStop so they could be close to official. We’ll let you know if the publisher confirms anything leading up to its community event, taking place in Los Angeles on January 17.

Spawn Hinted At For 'Mortal Kombat 11' By Todd McFarlane

With its announcement last week at The Game Awards, fans are excited to see more of NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat 11. They’ll get their wish next month at a community event, but speculation has already begun on who the “guest characters” for the roster may be this time around, as part of the game’s Season Pass. And Todd McFarlane may have dropped a hint on his most notable character.
Earlier this evening, the comic book artist and creator hosted an AMA over on Reddit, where he fans could ask him questions about anything. One fan inquired if one of McFarlane’s biggest creations, Spawn, might join the roster for MK11.

McFarlane, possibly being coy, replied, “I believe he’s on his way.”
After that, fans went wild, with some saying things like “Don’t you be playing with my emotions, Todd,” or one going as far as to quote Fleetwood Mac, going, “TELL ME LIES, TELL ME SWEET LITTLE LIES.” You can read all of the responses here.

The possibility of Spawn making his way to Mortal Kombat does seem pretty high considering its theme of underworld fighting and death, though he was also rumored for Mortal Kombat XL for a while and never materialized.
He does seem fit for the fighting ring, however. Years ago, he was a guest character in the Xbox version of Soul Calibur II, and would later return for its HD version on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Xbox One (via backward compatibility).

And we have seen similar “horror heroes” join the series in the past, including Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, Leatherface (from Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and both the Alien and Predator from their respected franchises. So the possibility is definitely there
To further solidify the idea of bringing him to the series, Pixelbuster over on Resetera noted that a new Spawn film could be making the rounds, so putting him in MK11 would be a solid way to promote it. That said, the film isn’t likely to come out next year like the game is.
Now the real question is this. If he ends up joining the roster, what would his fatalities be like? Would he rip opponents to shreds with his chains in ways that Scorpion can only dream of? Or perhaps he’d call upon the Violator to skoosh his adversary into a bloody puddle. With NetherRealm, it can really go a number of ways.

We’ll let you know if the developer announces anything during its community event, which takes place on January 17. It will be livestreamed, so you won’t miss a thing.

Here's What We Want From 'Mortal Kombat 11'

When NetherRealm Studios finally revealed the next entry into the Mortal Kombat franchise during this year's The Game Awards, fans went nuts seeing familiar faces once more locked in a fatal battle. Now that we know the new title is on the way, let's recap some of the things we'd like to see from Mortal Kombat 11 when it arrives on April 23, 2019.

Guest CharactersInjustice 2 had an awesome roster of guest characters and if SoulCalibur VI and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are anything to go by, this surprise tactic is a huge hit with gamers. A lot of players over on Reddit have given their picks for who they'd like to see make the cute - including Pennywise the Clown and basically anybody from Castlevania, but I personally wouldn't mind seeing a total left field move with The Witcher's Geralt or Ciri - I mean, come on - Geralt is already in Monster Hunter World and SoulCal, what's one more franchise?

AnimationsThere is no doubt about it that the latest video looked visually stunning, but it's not secret that the series has had some animation issues in the past. Mortal Kombat 11 will carry on the stunning show of martial arts and in order to really share the beautiful brutality as it's meant to be shared, the animations do need a little more work to make them more fluid - more believable.
With technology being what it is today and NetherRealm being an incredible studio, we have no doubt that the stylization will be better - we just hope that the animations benefits the most.

Returning Characters
We already know that the core characters are returning, but the Steam listing teased a ton of new ones as well. Shang Tsung and Smoke would be my top picks, but really I'm just looking forward to seeing some familiar faces.
According to the Steam's official pre-purchase listing page, "Mortal Kombat is back and better than ever in the next evolution of the iconic franchise. The all new Custom Character Variations give you unprecedented control to customize the fighters and make them your own. The new graphics engine showcasing every skull-shattering, eye-popping moment, brings you so close to the fight you can feel it. And featuring a roster of new and returning Klassic Fighters, Mortal Kombat's best in class cinematic story mode continues the epic saga over 25 years in the making."

The part that sticks out the most about the official listing is the ability to create Custom Character Variations as well as the mention of returning and new fighters! Mortal Kombat 11 seems like it will be the perfect blend of familiarity and new experiences and we're excited to learn more about what the new fighters have in store!

OnlineOnline play is continuing to grow in popularity in all games, but Mortal Kombat has already conquered this mode of play before. When Mortal Kombat X eventually added the GGPO code that made the online experience even more enjoyable, and given the immediate fan feedback of this choice - it would be safe to assume that Mortal Kombat 11 would feature this netcode as well.

On that note, I'd love to see a background matchmaking tool that allows players to begin the process while already in another game mode. It would also be awesome to see Mortal Kombat 11 take on some of the online features that Injustice 2 seemed to perfect - especially concerning how their gear system works.

Misc. ThoughtsA few other additional hopes is that they don't mess with perfection. The Story Mode is phenomenal - don't touch it.
Additional Game Modes would be welcome as well, just please - no Battle Royale. But something fresh wouldn't be amiss, though as for what - I'm not entirely sure what I would want to see. Given that this is NetherRealm we're talking about, we're sure they could come up with some incredible surprises.

Finally - as a PC player - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me a non-broken PC launch, I'm literally begging. PC launches for this series seems to be the studio's kryptonite, especially when looking back on Mortal Kombat X's debacle. Please do adequate testing and please don't leave us hanging. PC gamers, we're not exactly known for our patience.
What are your thoughts on the latest reveal and what would you like to see next? Excited for what's next in the beloved - yet brutal - Mortal Kombat franchise? Join in on the conversation in the comment section below, or hit me up over on Twitter @DirtyEffinHippy! As for the game itself, Mortal Kombat 11 will arrive on April 23, 2019 for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC

Every 'Mortal Kombat 11' Fighter Revealed So Far

We don't know a great deal about Mortal Kombat 11 at the moment of writing this, but we do know some of the fighters that will be in the game, and some fighters that will seemingly be in it.

Of the characters we know so far, there's obviously some classics, as well as some unexpected faces.
Anyway, here's every Mortal Kombat 11 fighter that has been confirmed for the game so far:

ScorpionWhile Sub-Zero has yet to be officially confirmed, the other face of Mortal Kombat, Scorpion, has. In fact, there's seemingly two Scorpions.

Scorpion, also known as Hanzo Hasashi ("Full Scorpion Man") is a resurrected ninja and one of the few original characters that debuted in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game. Only Scorpion, Raiden, and Sub-Zero have appeared in every Mortal Kombat game as a playable character.
Born to a member of Shirai Ryu, Scorpion was told not to join the clan by his father, who didn't want his son to live the life of an assassin. However, Scorpion did so anyway to provide his son and wife with a better life.

Now Scorpion is a hell-spawned spectre that is seeking vengeance against those responsible for destroying his clan and killing his family.

Shao Kahn(Photo: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment)The lord of Kombat and the most powerful character in the series, Shao Kahn is back baby. But unfortunately he's locked behind pre-ordering. Something fans aren't very happy about.

Shao Kahn made his debut back in Mortal Kombat II as the final boss, and has since served as the primary antagonist of the series quite often.

Shao Kahn the Konqueror is basically the embodiment of evil, or at least that's how he is represented. He is known for his godlike strength that is really only matched by the likes of Raiden, as well as brutality, callousness, personal drive, and his fondness of executions. Kahn has the ability to consume souls, but his greatest strength lies in his intelligence.

Raiden(Photo: WB Interactive)Sub-Zero and Scorpion might be the faces of Mortal Kombat, but Raiden isn't far behind. As mentioned above, he's one of three characters that has featured in every game.

Interestingly, in the debut trailer we actually Dark Raiden, the evil alternate version of the character that first appeared in Mortal Kombat Deception and then reappeared in Mortal Kombat X. In other words, it looks like both version of Raiden will be in the game.

The eternal God of Thunder and protector of Earthrealm, Raiden alongside Shao Kahn is the most powerful character in Mortal Kombat, who, after defeating Shinnok, ascended to the status of Elder God. Being a God, he has a different perspective on things than most characters, though he is capable of understanding and expressing human emotions and values.

Oracle (Maybe)(Photo: WB Interactive)Okay, so here's where we start getting into hazy territory. Awhile back, a leak (which hasn't yet been disproved) revealed a new character dubbed "Oracle." Now, in the debut trailer, there's a brief tease of a new character, a mystical woman doing something with a giant hourglass. Many fans presume this is Oracle.

That said, even if the above character is Oracle, it's unclear if the character will be playable or just in story mode.

Spawn (Maybe)(Photo: Todd McFarlane)Okay, so here's another one that may actually not be coming to the game: Spawn. If you watched the game's announcement trailer, you'll know that there's nothing in there that even slightly hints at Spawn being in the game.
That said, the creator of the anti-hero, Todd McFarlane seemingly confirmed the character will be in the game recently. But until we get an official confirmation, I'm going to have add "Maybe" to this one.

Created in 1992, Albert "Al" Francis Simmons was once a very gifted officer in the Marines. From here, Simmons was recruited into the Secret Service and then the CIA. And then CIA director Jason Wynn brought Simmons into a special top-secret covert ops division known as the U.S. Security Group, and elite task force with jurisdiction in all domestic and foreign situations.

Eventually, Simmons was murdered and sent to Hell for his life as an Assassin. However, after arranging a deal with a being known as Malebolgia, he became a Hellspawn in exchange for being allowed to see his wife one last time.

Every Mortal Kombat 11 Character Confirmed So Far

Anticipation for Mortal Kombat 11 is at a fever pitch as the game nears its April release, and a huge part of that excitement revolves around all the playable characters in the new Mortal Kombat game. While Mortal Kombat 11 features brutal Fatalities, much like previous iterations of the series, it's the roster that fans like to speculate on.
Since the Mortal Kombat franchise is almost 27 years old, a number of characters have been created within the universe in that time, and many have gained respective followings. There will only be a handful of them present within Mortal Kombat 11's roster, but a number of fan-favorites have already been confirmed to return.

Since the Mortal Kombat 11 roster will continue to grow as gamers get ever closer to the new title's release (with NetherRealm Studios potentially teasing new characters on social media), Screen Rant has put together a guide showcasing every known and rumored character found within Mortal Kombat 11. It will be updated as news arrives.
Mortal Kombat 11 Character Roster (So Far)

  • Scorpion - As the face of the series, Scorpion was confirmed in the reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat 11. Much of his moves appear to be intact, with his trademark "get over here" maneuver still as prominent as ever. Even then, it's good to see the mainstay return.
  • Raiden - The thunder god is a mainstay of Mortal Kombat that rivals the prominence of the above mentioned Scorpion. He too is making a return in Mortal Kombat 11, but this time he's equipped with red electricity. Has something happened to the Raiden fans know and love? Only time will tell.
  • Sub-Zero - Sub-Zero is a ninja capable of manipulating ice and freezing his opponents. As the arch-rival (at least, sometimes) of Scorpion, his return was almost always guaranteed. Still, it's nice to see the beloved character returning in Mortal Kombat 11.
  • Sonya Blade - Returning once again, Sonya Blade is ready to kick some butt with all of the swagger that fans have come to expect from the character. Players jumping into this game may notice that she sounds a little different this time around though, and that's because Ronda Rousey is voicing Sonya Blade in Mortal Kombat 11.
  • Skarlet - After failing to make a playable appearance in Mortal Kombat X, Skarlet is returning to claim a spot on the Mortal Kombat 11 roster. Her ability to control blood is back and more brutal than ever in MK11, and she'll no doubt make for a strong fighter for anyone willing to to get their hands dirty.
  • Baraka - After being killed off in Mortal Kombat X – despite never being playable – it appears as if fans were vocal enough to ensure that Baraka returned in Mortal Kombat 11. One of his Fatalities allows Baraka to rip off the face of his opponent before ultimately eating their brain. Yes, it's as violent as it sounds.
  • Geras - The first confirmed newcomer on this list is a very unique addition to the series, as he's able to manipulate the flow of time. This allows Geras to set up combos, manipulate the clock in each match, and even revive himself from death in certain occasions. Suffice it to say, Geras should prove a worthy addition to Mortal Kombat 11.
  • Shao Khan - Confirmed as the first DLC for Mortal Kombat 11, gamers can secure Shao Kahn by preordering the game ahead of its launch on April 23, 2019. As a longstanding villain in the series and emperor of Outworld, he should make for an awesome piece of downloadable content for longtime fans of the series.

Rumored Playable Characters For Mortal Kombat 11

  • Kronika - As the first-ever female boss in Mortal Kombat history, Kronika is likely to have a playable role in the game–it's just not confirmed yet. Her ability to manipulate time will no doubt pose a challenge for gamers trying to best the villain. Her vendetta against Raiden is sure to also play into the story in an interesting manor.
  • Kabal - While not officially announced, Kabal flashed by on the screen at the big Mortal Kombat 11 reveal before being acknowledged by one of the event's hosts. This fan-favorite character and longstanding chum of Kano is sure to annoy gamers with his infamous dash attack. Plus that headgear is quite cool.
  • Reptile - Despite not yet being officially confirmed, Reptile was mentioned by a Mortal Kombat 11 dev by mistake. As a classic villain of the franchise, it would be very off to leave the acid-spitting lizard out of the equation. Considering that the new MK game looks more brutal than ever, face-melting acid is an essential component to any game as violent of Mortal Kombat.
  • Spawn - This is an odd character on the list, as word on the fighter didn't even come from developer NetherRealm Studios. Instead, comic creator Todd McFarlane confirmed that Spawn would be appearing in Mortal Kombat 11. Whether or not this is true remains to be seen, but only time will tell. Furthermore, if this is happening then is Spawn featured in the game at launch or will he be added later as DLC.

-
Mortal Kombat 11 is expected to have at least 25 playable characters - as revealed by the character selection screen - though only a handful have been revealed thus far. When it comes to selecting characters (including DLC characters), NetherRealm Studios told us they're looking to the Mortal Kombat community to see what they want the most. Mortal Kombat 11 is essentially a culmination of everything that made the franchise great, all while taking the next step in evolving it into something new.

'Mortal Kombat 11' Achievements Leak on Steam And Hints at a Possible Rain Reveal

Though we still have a little bit of time before we can get our hands on NetherRealm Studios' Mortal Kombat 11, quite a few of the hidden achievements have been leaked for the new game due to an update in Steam's database.
Earlier today we spotted one of the achievements that seems to hint that Erron Black would be making his way back onto the roster, but that was by far not the only one to have leaked:
(Photo: Steam)12 Hidden Trophies for Mortal Kombat 11 on Steam have appeared in the platform's database and many of them are about what one would expect from a fighter game. Performing X amount of fatalities with certain characters, things like that. Oh, and one for simply completing the basic tutorial -- basically, it's the usual.

Aside from the ERR that seems to point to Black's return, another file name also has caught our eye. Though "RAI" could easily stand for Raiden, which was revealed to be the narrative's star, it could also hint that Rain could be on the way. With a new "Kombat Kast" slated for February 14th, it's possible we'll see the reveal there though the studio did slip and say the next reveal will be a "her."

As far as the roster goes, co-creator Ed Boon has confirmed that "so many" more classic fighters will be making their grand return. For now, here's what we have so far regarding playable characters being confirmed for the upcoming game:
  • Geras
  • Kabal
  • Kano
  • Raiden
  • Scorpion
  • Shao Kahn
  • Skarlet
  • Sonya Blade
  • Sub-Zero
The new "big bad" Kronika also looks to be a huge addition to the franchise, one that has been secretly working behind-the-scenes for years in the franchise's history according to NetherRealm.

What do you think about the growing roster so far and who do you think will be the next big reveal? Sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below, or hit me up over on Twitter @DirtyEffinHippy!

'Mortal Kombat 11' Leak Hints at Erron Black's Return

Mortal Kombat 11 has revealed some pretty stellar fighters thus far, including that of Kabal and D'vorah as the most recent showcases. Still, there is so much more to come and a new datamine has revealed that Erron Black may be the next returning character.
12 Hidden Trophies for Mortal Kombat 11 on Steam have appeared in the platform's database and many of them are about what one would expect from a fighter game. Performing X amount of fatalities with certain characters, things like that. But one in particular stands out:
(Photo: Steam)A small snippet of the leak can be seen above where one trophy seems to be award for performing different fatalities with "ERR." Though it's not the full name of the character, it's pretty easy to see why this would prompt Erron speculation, especially since the surrounding trophies match that pattern: Rai = Raiden (or possibly Rain), Bar = Baraka, and so forth.
The roster so far has been very impressive and Ed Boon has confirmed that "so many" more classic fighters will be making their grand return. For now, here's what we have so far regarding playable characters being confirmed for the upcoming game:
  • Geras
  • Kabal
  • Kano
  • Raiden
  • Scorpion
  • Shao Kahn
  • Skarlet
  • Sonya Blade
  • Sub-Zero

New Mortal Kombat 11 Trailer Brings Back Classic Fighter Jade

Classic kombatant Jade comes back swinging in the new Mortal Kombat 11 trailer. The Edenian assassin and bo staff enthusiast bolsters the rapidly growing roster. She joins fellow Mortal Kombat 3 alum Kabal as well as D'Vorah, the upstart from Mortal Kombat X. Staple antagonist Kano has since been announced, and there have been strong leaks towards Reptile’s inclusion. Other confirmed characters include Dark Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Baraka and newcomer Geras. Shao Kahn will also be playable as a pre-order bonus fighter.
The game’s plot centers around a now corrupted Raiden running amok. It also places a spotlight on the time-bending Kronika, the series’ first female boss, who seeks to remedy the damage Raiden has caused to the timeline. New features include the robust Character Custom Variation system that allows players to customize fighter attire (without altering their stats). Fatal Blow maneuvers act as bloody special attacks triggered when players are on the brink of defeat. Mortal Kombat 11 will launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC; a Switch port was announced during a recent Nintendo Direct.

Jade returns as an undead Revenant of the Netherrealm in Mortal Kombat 11. In addition to her usual green attire, she now sports menacing glowing eyes and lifeless grey skin. However, she still wields her signature staff and razorang projectile weapons. Jade also hasn’t lost her trademark sass, as evident in her verbal exchange with Baraka in her reveal trailer. The video shows off her graceful yet brutal combat prowess. Jade’s fatality reinforces the 11th entry’s new emphasis on eyeball gore by using her staff to impale opponents through the back of their skulls and out of an eye socket. Next, she bisects them with her razorang - just in case shoving a pole inside of their brains wasn’t fatal enough.

Jade is best known as Princess Kitana’s loyal childhood friend and former assassin for Shao Kahn. She first appeared as a hidden fighter in Mortal Kombat II before officially debuting in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 where she became a fan favorite. Jade’s last appearance as a playable fighter was in the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot (aka. MK 9). She was killed during the game’s story mode and resurrected as an undead servant for the evil sorcerer, Quan Chi. She last appeared in a cameo role during Mortal Kombat X’s story.
Jade adds another welcomed element to an already impressive looking installment in the long-running franchise. Thanks to Netherrealm’s decision to announce Mortal Kombat 11 mere months before its April release date, fans have been treated to a regular deluge of new information. It also means that the wait for the game’s hotly anticipated launch hasn’t been a long one. Plenty of open character slots remain, so it should be exciting to see what fighters, classic or new, fill out the rest of the ranks.
