Default official chiefs vs ravens thread.

less then 24 hours tell kickoff thought i would make the thread. who do you predict to win? what are the keys to the game?
i think the chiefs are going to win.
my keys to victory will be the ability of cassel to throw the ball and our d to stop the run. should be a good game though and i've been excited all week for this.

Defensively, we have to adjust to their "wild" offensive formations with their tackles and Tight Ends.

Offensively, we need to get into a Rhythm on offense in our passing game and NOT stick to the Run, Run, Pass formula until we've got Cassel warmed up and in a rhythm. Finer point being, we HAVE to get guys like McCluster and Moeaki involved early so we can relieve some pressure on Bowe. Hell, the way the Ravens have played D this year, Moeaki could be poised to have the biggest game of the season if he can shed the jam at the line and sit down in the zone if he gets a soft zone coverage.

Edit: Chiefs 21, Ravens 20 (even though my math shows the opposite )

I REALLY hope that I'm wrong here.

I think the Ravens are going to do to KC what SD did. I don't think that our offense has progressed enough to be able to sustain drives against a tough D. Which will in turn put our defense on the field for an extended amount of time and they will score alot of points in the second half.

In my opinion, our only chance here is to have some HUGE special teams plays and to get up early and keep the crowd in it. It's going to be cold, it's going to be wet (possibly) and it's going to be loud. I think we'll need to win the turnover battle by +2.

If none of the above happen I see a 35-10 type game. If we get a few big plays/turnovers we could pull off a 17-13 win.

Ravens 27-10

Keys: Do not let Charles break big runs outside the hash marks. I think if the Ravens can force Cassel to beat them through the air, the chances of winning are very high. The only player on the chiefs that worries me is Charles.

Way to downplay our defense

The person you need to worry about is Tamba Hali. If he gets penetration, the Ravens aren't going to get a chance to work the PAP against us which is a big danger to us.

I'm not 100% sold on our defense, especially suck a well oiled machine in Baltimore. Their defense will fuel their offense. I see a San Diego, Raiders or Denver game happening where they just blow us out. I hope I am wrong of course.

He is no doubt good and the chiefs best defensive player, I would guess they might run some reverses his way or other misdirection as he was badly beaten on a few last week. He doesn't scare me though, he is a player that needs to be accounted for. If he rushes the left tackle Oher should provide good protection, now the right tackle is a question mark because they moved the right guard to right tackle about 10 games ago and while he was a great guard he is adequate as a tackle.

That's going to be a huge matchup, Tamba vs. your Right Tackle.

It will be huge but to the Ravens advantage Flacco should see it coming as opposed to being from his backside, that extra time might be enough to step up in the pocket or throw it away

One of the biggest questions is how will the Chiefs handle Ngata ?

Our secret weapon, Asamoah!

Just kidding. Although he will probably see some playing time in this game with some "big" personnel packages since we'll try hard to get our game going on the ground.

Does he play when they run an unbalanced line or do they throw him in at FB?

He's been in a few games this year in many of our "big" packages like Unbalanced and the Goalline swap when we bring Shaun Smith in at FB.

I'm going to guess and say that we use a lighter unbalanced package with Asamoah, and probably pull him and run weakside with Charles on occasion.

I would hate to be a CB on those type of run plays

We used it really early on in the season, around game 4-6 and then kind of abandoned it to run more of the 2 TE set. Not sure why we abandoned it. Asamoah is a great guard when you pull him and run weakside, he's pretty impressive for a rookie as far as run blocking goes.

We did a similar setup in either the Niners game or the Bills game, only, Asamoah played Tight End on the Left side, and we put Moeaki in motion to the left and just rolled all over the defense. This will probably be the only way we get the running game going if it remains a close game.

Ed Reed's brother is reportedly missing and the Ravens are unsure if their star free safety will travel with the team to Kansas City at 2 p.m. ET today.
According to WWLTV.com in Louisiana, officers had been pursuing a man believed to be Brian Reed -- Ed's younger brother. The man was seen jumping into the Mississippi River and is now missing.

Yeah that got reported in the other thread.

I don't blame the guy if he misses this game. Family is Family and they are always more important. Hopefully things turn out better than they appear for Reed and his family. : /

Edit: he will play

i think the main key is for the chiefs to score early and be able to play from a lead the whole game. and i think the key to that is some trickery and playactions early. if they are going to stack 8+ in the box from the start, make them pay and make them back off. i would love to see some big trickery play of a wild cat with all 3 in the backfield....JC, TJ, and mccluster. some fake one way and run an option or fake one way and TJ dump a screen pass to mccluster the other way.... just to start it off. catch them off guard and make them have to wonder early.

Bravo Formation is what they called that earlier in the season, and I agree.

When those three are on the field with Tj at QB, you've got a lot of mismatches right out of the box.
