Default What are your long term goals?

I have found the setting short term goals for myself has been a major factor in the progress I've made over the past year. While my goals are fairly easy to track as they are very number driven, i feel goal setting can be beneficial to everyone and I'd like to hear what it is you are trying to do over the next year or more. I'll update this with my next year's goals dependent on how I do in my upcoming meet, but generally speaking, I'd like to get my leg lifts up to a respectable number (Squat close to 500 and deadlift 550+) and my bench close to 400.

So what about you guys? Is it a goal physique? Are they numbers driven? Health driven?

I would like to get to 200 lbs by around this time next year. I had set a goal of 315 on decline bench before Christmas but I don't think its gonna happen. I did 275x1 once last week so I'm still quite a ways off. A slightly shorter term goal is 180lbs by February before I try to drop some body fat. I guess we will see how it goes.

I would like to do complete a Half Ironman in 2013. My goal is to keep on training and take advanced swimming lessons to step up my swim game. I've also got 4 triathlons (indoor sprint, super sprint, sprint, super-sprint) and a duathlon (sprint) planned through out the year and hoping to wrap it up with an Olympic distance race.

Heres the triathlon distances for those of you who dont know...

Sprint: .47 mi. swim - 12.4 mi. bike - 3.1 mi run (15.97 total miles)
Olympic: .93 mi swim - 24.8 mi. bike - 6.2 mi. run (31.93 total miles)
Half: 1.2 mi. swim - 56 mi. bike - 13.1 mi. run (70.3 total miles)
Full: 2.4 mi. swim - 112 mi. bike - 26.2 mi. run (140.6 total miles)

Edit: Currently working on a 5 day-a-week, 20 week training plan which will peak and deload just before my first race. Trying to read and learn as much as possible about ways to improve my form and to keep myself on a specific pace.

Well I know there's no way I'm going to reach close to 160 by February, so I'm just shooting to gain some weight in general. Just trying to be consistent with going to the gym and working hard.

Long term?

I keep asking myself what I want to do long term. I don't ultimately have specific 1rm's I'd like to hit anymore. More, what it takes to get me to a specific physique. Would love to be 240-250 around 10-12%. Of course its a few years down the road. I'm just gonna steadily chip away at it, tweak what I need to, and eat like a fucking machine.

Short term goal:

Lose another 10lbs of midsection fat & cut up. Keep rehabilitating my knee, and keep on track as far as toning out my quads and calfs.

Long term goal: put on 7-10lbs more of upper body muscle, including pecs, biceps, traps, triceps, and fill in my upper middle back. My lower body tends to grow faster than my upper body, and I'd like to truly balance out that strength while remaining leaner.

I'd like to push myself to new limits when it comes to offroad biking distance, and endurance. I've ridden 50 miles offroad in one ride, but I'd like to do twice that.

Long term goals? Pull 600, Squat 500.

Not to worried about bench as my shoulder starts to get sketchy as I go towards 300+, so won't bother with that.

Short Term: Hit 160lbs (at 5'3") by Mid-march. Sitting at 152 right now, so another clean 8lbs shouldn't be hard. Then clean up to 145 for the summer

Long Term, I'd like to have a summer weight of 155-160 at 10-12%, winter weight near 170-180, and just lift like the strongest manlet there ever was.

The physique that keeps me grinding, The Giant Killer, Danny Padilla. 5'2".

my goal was to live a healthy lifestlye and an active one. That I now do. I tested maybe in the top 5% of healthiest people in electronics at my work. I eat great good and look good. Now my new goals are purely performance driven. I'd like to get to 185lbs, at 6'2'' it may be a challenge. But with my power output and that weight, I would be killer on the bike. I'd like to see more than where my abs are but some definition. I'd like to get to a solid 10% body fat.

What are you using to measure your output at the moment? Trying to decide on which route to go for myself.

My long term goals are to workout at least 3 days a week preferrably 4 days. I am going for overall fitness not go to get cut or swole. I am using working out as a way to manage my Diabetes(Type 1) and keep my insulin sensitivity high. At first I tried to do it for weight loss, but now I just get in the gym and keep doing the exercises trying to do to more and more weight.

Pretty simple goals.

Long term would be to stay around 200-210 at 11-12% BF year around. Pick up my Cardio game a little bit, so I don't feel like dying when I go for a run. Keep pushing myself in the gym. Don't really have goal numbers besides beat the lift I did last week, that seems to work the best for me.

Right now I am around 240lbs I would like to get back down to 195-205lbs by May-June.

Realistically the lbs number doesnt matter as long as I can look in the mirror and be happy with what I see. Right now my upper body is where I want it. I just need to work a lot on my mid section and get rid of the love handles.

I am also pushing to complete the Trolley run in under 45 minutes and get my 5k time under 30 minutes (only ran one and got 32:52).
I am also wanting to try a 10k in the fall of 2012.

Another race under the belt yesterday

2.1 mile run - 10 mile bike - 2.1 mile run
Run 1 - 15:57 (8min/mile)
Bike - 33:41 (18mph)
Run 2 - 15:48 (8min/mile)
Total - 1:07:26

40th overall out of 150 and 3rd place in my age group. Should have been 30th/2nd but I got a BS 2:00 penalty. Cannot seem to get my race runs down into the 7min/mile area.

I got passed on the bike and didn't drop back three bike lengths before make a move to pass them. Basically what happened is someone passed me and then slowed down. Regardless I am supposed to fall back and then make a move. Stupid rule IMO because I could intentionally penalize other riders who went to pass me.

Yup, I can honestly see no reason for its use. It seems to lessen the competitive side of the sport IMO because rather than your natural instinct telling you to speed up when you're about to get passed the rules tell you to slow down.

My body goal is to be a lean 175.
My lift goals are
Squat - 400+
Deadlift - 400+
Bench - 2x bodyweight

Currently i am 5'-6" 158-160lbs.
Its a little hard for me to workout on a solid schedule between two kids (2mo and 3yr old) and my wife working 45-50 hours a week with call-ins and schedule changes.
All that on top of only having 300lbs worth of weights and limited equipment at home. I do not have the time or money for a gym membership right now so my progress is rather slow.
For the past few months i have been eating properly and lifting no less than 3 days a week with decent results but as i said above they are fairly slow.

What i'd like to see happen is to find a way me and my wife could go to a gym 3-4 days out of the week. That would definitely push my results at a much more desireable rate.

Haven't tested body fat in a while but would like to be leaner. Last time I checked I was 23% at 5'10" 190, just looking to be conditioned for endurance and racing.
