Default Airline prices

I was searching for airline tickets from spirit and last night to this morning they went up $30 per ticket on the return flight yet no more seats look like they have been sold. Do they tend lower prices again on monday or tuesday? Or am i just fucked? I picked them due to savings of several hundred after picking seats and bags.

I am of no help.

95% of the airfare I book is company paid and I don’t pay too much attention to price. The rest is personal travel, and I just use miles and book based off of convenience of schedule.

Just here to get my post count up

they usually go down on tuesdays depending which airline. I use an app/website called skiplagged. I've never paid more than 120 to anywhere in the US. I used it to help get a buddy round trip to Germany for under $300.00/ticket.

Pretty awesome site. Although dont be fooled by buying through them, get the prices from them and buy direct.

If saving several hundred per ticket why worry about $30 with a chance of missing out.

because with the amount of tickets purchased, it add's up real quick. If it were just 2-4 tickets, I probably would have just bought them by now. Unfortunately I am purchasing for many more people. I was just wondering if anyone noticed if prices went down during the week vs the weekend. I hear from others who say that its always higher on Saturdays and sundays are the most expensive since a lot of people relax and buy vacations on sundays.

look again from a different device or IP address. Sometimes those companies look at people who shop the same trip over and over and raise price for that individual to trigger a buying decision.

Tuesday is the cheapest day of the week to depart on and to purchase tickets on.

It is a draw.
Sometimes I can get different prices based on the time of day or by simply refreshing/clearing cookies.

I checked skiplagged and it had a pretty good price overseas... only problem was the vendor they used to offer those tickets had a good awful reputation online.

When searching for tickets - are you putting in the amount of tickets while looking?

The way an airline booking system works (to a customer service agent/rep or travel agent)

y7 r7 t7 z7 m5 l4

Y is always (that I know of) the refundable most expensive, least restrictive fare

the other fare "classes" have restrictions - some might need travel to begin on a Wednesday, with or without a round trip, and the return date must be within x number of days.

the number is how many seats there are in that class. If it's 7 (or in some GDS's it's 9), there are at least 7 seats, but possibly more. If it's 4 - there are only 4 seats left.

So, if you are searching for 5 tickets, it's automatically going to dump you to the higher fare class - in this case M..

So, try searching for 2 tickets at a time... Also, a fare sale might have ended yesterday.

The one airline that is really an exception to the above is SWA. They do have things like 14 day advance purchase - but they don't have any tickets that are weird with the - if you aren't returning within 7 days on a Friday, Tuesday, or Monday - you can't get this lower fare for the outbound...

So I saved myself a bunch of money. However last night (Tuesday), the prices never changed. I decided to leave Monday instead of sunday because leaving sunday was going to cost $138 per ticket but to leave Monday, it was $108. The prices per ticket were for Saturday departing KC at $138 and the monday returning flight was $108. The reserved seat prices were $13 each seat. I said screw it and bought tickets.

Fast forward to this morning, spirit lowered the prices this morning for the Saturday departure to $108. Even though I was leaving Monday, I seen they also lowered the sunday price down to $108 too. Well so I called and asked for a refund of the difference, they said No but since I booked less than 24 hours, they just refunded my entire original purchase. They tried to get me to not refund and said they couldn't guarantee me getting reserved seats. I still told them to refund it. While they were refunding, I was booking everything again. The seat costs even dropped to $7.

After everything, I saved $36 per ticket. The overall savings with 8 people was $288. I even rebooked my original seats! Some people may ask why I fly spirit since they are discount. However since I purchase my seats and pay for my luggage up front. I always come out cheaper than other airlines. The next closest was southwest, they cannot guarantee my seats and were $608 more. Delta and all the others were even more expensive.

I am glad I checked again this morning.

this is very much a legitimate thing. I've personally experienced it through Southwest where the exact same ticket was $80 cheaper in an incognito window of the browser than it was in a browser that had my previous day's searches in it.
