Heartland Motorsports Park 33 mins

I-70 Speedway and Kansas City International Raceway "KCIR" are scheduled for reopening in 2019
I-70 Speedway and Kansas City International Raceway "KCIR" were originally built by the same group in the late 1960痴 to serve the Kansas City market. Both facilities closed within the past 10 years and will now get a fresh start with the help of multiple companies, including the same corporation that revamped Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka, Kansas, and National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio. Both tracks will be rebuilt on the property in Odessa, Missouri that originally housed I-70 speedway. The facility will be named I-70 Motorsports Park and home to both race tracks.
A quarter-mile dragstrip will be built on the Odessa property, along with a half-mile clay dirt oval. The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) will sanction the dragstrip and while the dirt track will hold special feature Sprint Car action from several different sanctioning bodies.
Events at the dragstrip will include a weekly test & tune series for anyone who wants to bring their daily-driver, hot rod, muscle car, or purpose built race car out to the track. The track will also host a weekly bracket racing series as well as feature events to include import races and car shows.
The dirt oval track will host monthly racing events throughout the season, and will be built in a way that fans will be able to enjoy separate events there such a music concerts, festivals, and other facility rental functions.
Leading the project is Kansas City businessman and entertainment property owner, Chris Payne. "I'm super excited to be involved with rebuilding two historical race tracks which have been a part of the local communities for decades. Like, most successful projects it takes a group of devoted people and companies, including the support of the local governments, to completed the project. Our hopes are I-70 Motorsports Park becomes a staple in the community for all to enjoy for generations to come"
After the appropriate approvals and permits are received, construction will immediately take place at the property with earth moving equipment clearing an area for the dragstrip to be laid, and the oval track will have fresh clay delivered to complete its racing surface. Both facilities will have general admission seating as well as corporate hospitality areas and VIP tower suites for lease throughout each season.
Race fans can follow all of the progress at i70motorsportspark.com

Will be awesome to have a brand new, full 1/4 mile track near the city. JK has already said they will want to have future SCT events there so that's a big yearly, or even twice a year event if the kick off party also happens to venture out there as well.

Is the 3er of yours just for show, or does it have some go? I知 still a little bit butt hurt from my last encounter with Ahmad and feel like I have a little more firepower now.

You wanna see some nice looking 5.0 taillights?

It will be a little more competitive than the last one I brought out 😀

Unfortunately, the P-car is gone. I had someone make me an offer on it that I couldn't refuse. The current DD is stock and likely will not be much of a match for your new ride, so we will have to wait until I pick something else up or decide to do some mods.

Feel free to shoot me a PM to catch up further. Let's allow this thread to get back on topic.

Obviously. Just saying for half the metro, Heartland will still be the choice. Put it closer to downtown and it will attract more.

Are you sure? I feel like most of the clientele at KCIR when it was open were from Missouri and further east.

Reminiscent of a scene from a post-apocalyptic Hollywood film, this screen grab from YouTube user "Sublunar" shows the state of disrepair that the I-70 Speedway had fallen into in recent years. From YouTube

Kansas City businessman to restore pair of iconic local racetracks

Two iconic Kansas City-area motorsports meccas are poised to reopen in 2019.

The new I-70 Motorsports Park, located east of Odessa along the interstate, will feature an overhauled Kansas City International Raceway and retooled I-70 Speedway. Both were shuttered in the last decade or so.

Restoration of the tracks is being overseen by Kansas City businessman Chris Payne, who has marshaled the revamping of Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka. Payne痴 company, Shelby Development, also acquired the National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio, in 2017.
的知 super excited to be involved with rebuilding two historical race tracks which have been a part of the local communities for decades, Payne told i70motorsportspark.com.

的-70 Motorsports Park was kind of a natural next step in what he (Payne) sees as a great opportunity to have a facility directly serving the Kansas City market, as well as the Midwest, said Ryan Haas, managing partner at Forward Sports Marketing (FSM).

FSM has worked alongside Payne in his past racetrack restorations.

The park near Odessa will be built on top of the original I-70 Speedway, a racetrack that played host to such drivers as Larry Phillips and Clint Bowyer from 1969 to 2008.

The new speedway will be a half-mile dirt and clay oval, lending a similar feel to the venue as it was in the 1970s and 80s before it was turned into an asphalt track. Today, the venue and its surroundings are overgrown and dilapidated, with vines crawling up faded signage and dirt and various flora spilling onto the track
Haas expects the Speedway to be used about twice a month for special events like sprint-car races or concerts.
Kansas City International Raceway, originally situated within Kansas City limits, will be a new addition to the old facility. Opened in 1967 and closed in 2011, the original KCIR featured two quarter-mile asphalt lanes for drag racing.

Payne is planning to rebuild KCIR as a near-replica and make it the main attraction of the park.

典here will be events on the drag strip that anybody can come and bring their daily-driver car and participate in, Haas said, 殿s well as people that have purpose-built race cars who can come participate on the drag strip.
Haas expects the KCIR to be built and ready for races by spring 2019, while the I-70 Speedway is expected to open soon after, during the summer.
