I agree.

I posted that because who ever posted the video was making it like this is what you can expect from this car.
This is NOT what you should expect from the stinger. You're not going to be running around stomping 700-800hp cars ass. Why do you think this is the only run they posted?
Not to mention the Stinger hasn't even hit 11's YET modded. The HC will run 11's all day stock, on street tires.

Ok so did the dyno today and it was... impressive! I have been feeling it for awhile, but to see these numbers show how it drives. Hauls ass... pressertech tune and k&n intakes are only upgrades.

UPDATE: We ran the Stinger GT today and are thrilled with results! Ambient temp was 94 degree F in shop. Humidity was at 43%. We will take this back in the fall/early winter to see
#s
with those conditions. We expect a pretty big jump!

For all the shit I give this car, It looks pretty good there.

HOWEVER.. with all the mods, the car itself, and that widebody kit, I'm sure this car is pushing into the 60+k range easy.

That statement could be applied to any car that is building an aftermarket, how much does the kit cost, the "tune" the parts etc... the same thing was happening to Honda Civics thanks to Fast and Furious

My point is, when does it not become worth it for a car? There's always loyalty to the brand. I get that.

A Honda civic could be had for 17k. You throw another 15k at it and your knocking heads on the street. And you've still only spent 30+k. What are you going to buy for 30k stock, that's going to beat a Honda with 15k in mods to it?
You can buy a new 5.0, throw 10k at it, and it will wipe the floor with the Stinger and you've still saved 7-10k.

All I'm saying is If you're cross shopping for speed, power, 1/4 et's, etc, this would be on the bottom of the list for me because of the money I'd have to put in it to get what I want.

Tuning and the aftermarket culture have 0 to do with brand loyalty, obviously that pic is in S. Korea and being the "home" of the brand/company the aftermarket is going to be attracted to the car

Well thankfully people have 100% choice to buy what they want and to get what they want out of a car

You're missing the point.

When is it not worth buying the car? Would you pay 60k for a 5.0? Would you pay 40k for a Honda accord? Would you pay 60k for the Stinger?

The only reason the car is getting any hype is because Kia finally made a "fast" car. I don't see it as a bang for your buck car. There's nothing about it that stands out against anything else anyone is offering in the market.

Opinions and needs ...people are going to buy what they want .

I cross shopped a lot with the BMW and didn't even go "top of the line"

I have not seen sales numbers or anything about it lately but haven't dug. I like where KIAs head and strategy are going ..I do not see a huge price hike for it (the competitors have been given as well)

New rubber is coming to the Stinger GT, CarAdvice has confirmed at the Sportage launch.

Kia has made the bold move of switching tyre allegiance for Stinger GT models in Australia, ditching Continental for Michelin.

We first reported we were unimpressed with the longevity of the Continental ContiSport Contact 5 tyres fitted to the Stinger GT when we tested it against the Holden Commodore SS-V Redline last year.

The tyres showed signs of excessive wear under hard driving, and we actually destroyed a (very young) set after shooting dynamic images.

Kia has used feedback from media and customers in deciding to switch from the Continental tyre to a Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on Stinger GT models, and hopes the new rubber is more suited to local conditions.
Speaking with CarAdvice at the launch of the facelifted Sportage, Kia Australia chief operating officer, Damien Meredith, said the decision was in line with the type of driving favoured by local Stinger customers.

"They [head office] looked at different markets and my understanding is that there's a little bit of a choice. You can choose and we think... Michelins will be better for our conditions," Meredith said.

We also asked Meredith whether Kia was expecting better performance times from the new treads.

"Didn't think too much about whether we can shave another 0.1 off [our 0-100km/h sprint] or something like that, but you never know," said Meredith.

Bang for your buck car? Well it depends on what you're comparing it to.

Any car you can buy for 50k.

All I'm saying is, If I'm spending 50k on a car the Stinger isn't even going to be an option for me, personally. I'd buy a BMW before this car, no questions asked.

If i was looking to carve up the roads, I'd probably go Ford. If I'm looking at just 1\4 mile racing, everyone in here knows what I'm picking.

Comimg from a BMW owner ..the Stinger competes fine in 1 on 1 ( that has been proven in head to head comparisons) so you want to "focus" on the badge and ignore the fact it is a decent car etc.. now lets hope it has better injectors, lpfp, hpfp, water pump ..I mean I can go on about the BMW since owning mine brand new from 09

You seem to have badge stigma showing

Dear Stinger owner,

Let the gains begin...
Today at
SSR Performance
we embarked on a journey... we set off on a mission to bring you guys, the new generation of
Kia
Stinger GT 3.3TT owners, the best in performance. Our pledge to the Kia Stinger community is to not only provide value but also to bring you guys the absolute finest in quality that we have to offer. With our current production schedule being 100% on track for this platform, we are beyond excited for what the near future holds!

We ask you guys to join us on our journey to creating something amazing as we use this thread as an open dialogue to stay connected with the most important person there is to us, you. We want to hear from you whether you have an idea, a spur of the moment thought, or even just a simple hello.

Started in Southern California by Zayn and I,
SSR Performance
began as an aftermarket automotive
parts
manufacturer. With our Mechanical and Aerospace engineering backgrounds, designing parts was second nature. Along with the sale of parts came the undeniable need for a location to be able to install these
parts
. With over 10 years of combined automotive expertise between us, the decision was made to open SSR Performance's first location in beautiful Orange County, CA. Today
SSR Performance
is a thriving business that takes care of any and all aftermarket modifications, repairs, and upgrades on all new model vehicles. As they say, the apple doesn't fall from the tree, it just so happens that Zayn is an ex-test engineer for KIA North America. So not only are we able to offer our solutions with our general engineering knowledge but we are also able to tackle them with direct first hand working experience.

If you are in the market for aftermarket performance parts for your Kia Stinger GT 3.3TT, look no further. We promise you that our products will be worth the wait. Keep an eye out here and on our Instagram (@SSRperformance) to stay up to date with our day to day development progress!

So whether you're new to the modification world or a 5 car veteran, we hope to hear from you and learn each and everyday so that we can help you do what we do best.... modify, tune, and repeat!

Kia has come a long, long way since it entered the U.S. market back in the mid '90s. Initially, the Korean automaker was known for affordable economy cars with questionable reliability and a distinct lack of charisma. That's no longer the case. Kia turned its reputation around, building solid if slightly sedate cars and crossovers with handsome styling and one of the best warranties in the industry. Our new long-term 2018 Kia Stinger GT is the automaker's first real attempt to inject some life into the brand.

The Stinger's development was helmed by some genuine all-stars. The design was led by Peter Schreyer — the man behind the original Audi TT — and Gregory Guillaume at Kia's European design studio. Engineering was handled by former BMW M Vice President of Engineering Albert Biermann. Biermann is now leading the way at Hyundai's N division. The end result is a front-engine, rear-drive sportback tasked with putting to rest Kia's budget-car image. The automaker has made no secret about targeting models like the Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera.

What we got

The Stinger comes in two flavors. The base model comes with a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbo four-cylinder producing 255 horsepower and 260 pound feet of torque. We opted for the more powerful Stinger GT and its 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6. That engine — shared with models from Genesis — makes 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic. While rear-wheel drive is standard, we opted for all-wheel drive ($2,200) to better deal with Michigan winters.

Our car comes in Hichroma Red with a red interior. Leather is standard on every Stinger model. A base GT starts at $39,250 and comes with LED lighting, 19-inch wheels with summer tires and Brembo brakes. Our GT1 package comes in at $46,350 and adds niceties like a sunroof, a Harman Kardon audio system and a heated steering wheel. Other features include dual-zone climate control and power-adjustable front seating. We added cargo mats and a cargo tray in the rear, bringing the total to $46,620.

Why we got it
Kia and Hyundai are working hard to move past their budget-car roots. In general, both companies are producing vehicles that no longer have to sell on value alone. For a while, Kia's lineup consisted mostly of vehicles that were closely related to a Hyundai counterpart, with sharper styling but few points of real differentiation. The Stinger might be related to the upcoming Genesis G70, but it's a wildly original interpretation of the shard platform. Like the distinctive Soul crossover, it gives Kia a sportier edge and pushes the brand upmarket.

We'll spend the next year living with the Stinger to see just how well Kia's new car holds up. The Stinger competes in a segment of one, so while we'll use it as a bellwether to determine if Kia's new verve will have a lasting impact on buyers' impressions, we'll also be seeing how the Stinger stands on its own as an affordable grand tourer with a serious kick.
