Default Let's talk basketball

Withey fucked around and got himself a triple double.

No one else in a KU jersey showed up tonight, we still won by 10.

If Withey can keep up that kind of play, it is going to be a very fun season to watch. On a sad note, it looks as if Peters is leaving KU.

Well its probably best to end that love affair early. As the younger, more talented teams mature, the chances for Indiana to get to a national championship dwindle.

Glad to see OSU moving up the rankings and doing well this year. CBSsports.com RPI has them at #9

Really hoping they can make it to conerence play unbeaten.

Let them do on a 15-0 run. I almost cried. Game should have been a bit more of a blowout. Need to pull ourselves together in the next month and show up huge against Ohio State.

Nah I meant as a school. The years of their recent nadir has kept them from being as dislikeable as the likes of duke or kentucky and I thought being a punchline for so many years would have given their fans some humility, but perhaps not.

I dont know of the proper term for the guy who disappears into the shadows for the entire period his* teams suck donkey dick and then pop up and become the loudest fan when they finally win something

*"his" meaning any team that he could loosely relate too. AKA a school that his friend's cousin's brother-in-law went to for 3 semesters.

Can you really butt into a KU/UNC/DUKE (insert hand-picked school here) conversation when your team wins 3 games in a year and is a punching bag for the Big Ten? I particularly remember laughing at KU's misfortunes through the years, and KU fans bagging on Indiana's status in the basketball world. Before the IU/Kentucky game last year, nobody gave Indiana any respect because of all the destruction and embarrassment that Kelvin Sampson brought to the program.

Now Indiana's the top banana, and it seems like nobody likes it when the shoe's on the other foot.

And if you really want to question my fan status (hilarious btw), I've got 2 cousins, an aunt, and an uncle that are all IU alumni. I also have a cousin that's a current student at IU.

I know its early in the season, but I dont think there should be any doubt that Duke should be the #1 team right now.

They have beaten 3 teams that were ranked in the top 5 when they played, and those 3 teams will end up being high ranked all year so it isnt like its 3 teams that benefited from a high preseason poll ranking and will fall off.

Who has IU beaten? UNC? I honestly dont see UNC becoming much this year. definitely some big issues with that team.

Right now, I agree with you re: Duke. I think they will come back down to earth once other teams get a feel for playing with each other. Duke doesn't have to experience growing pains this season as they have 6 upperclassmen that have played together for 3-4 years. I worry about their ceiling compared to some teams. I don't think KU will be more than a top ten team all year but I expect Duke to at least be in the pack of 4 or 5 title contenders.

Unless KU can do some serious work in the next few months and really get all on the same page, I agree with this post.

I think they have the tools to win the conference, the Big 12 is mixed up this year. Then all that really matters is they mature enough for the post-season. There has been progress. While they regressed a bit the last game they were looking much better than they did against the first two teams and MSU.

Let's talk rape.

Quote:
Senior guard Michael Dixon's career at Missouri is over. Dixon himself sent notice to mulitple media outlets Thursday night his intentions to transfer. The story was first reported by Rivals.com.

Dixon was suspended before the start of the season after sexual assault allegations came to light over an alleged incident on Aug. 20 with a Missouri sophomore. On Nov. 16, a final examination of the allegations by local police determined there was not enough evidence to warrant charges being filed against Dixon.

On Thursday night, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported a second, separate allegation of rape had been filed against Dixon, that one from 2010. That report also turned up no charges against Dixon. Details from that story:

The alleged victim declined to press charges out of what she said was fear of retaliation and being ostracized by family. But a nurse who examined the woman said afterward that from the injuries sustained she “believes force was involved,” according to the report.

...

Speaking in broad terms not specific to the Dixon case, MU news bureau executive director Mary Jo Banken on Thursday said, “When a case is brought before the Student Conduct Committee, any previous accusations against the same student can be taken into account and may affect the final decision.

Rivals.com reported that Dixon's suspension stems from a ruling against him in a Student Conduct Committee on Nov. 16. The case has a similarity to that of Maryland transfer Dezmine Wells, who was forced to leave Xavier this past offseason following sexual assault allegations that could not be proven.

Despite the fact that local authorities are taking no action against Dixon, the University of Missouri's student conduct rules and legal board, including school Chancellor Brady Deaton, are acting on the information available. To be clear, Dixon is yet to be charged with violating any state laws in regard to either allegation.

Dixon can transfer immediately to any school able to take him and would not be forced to sit a year under current NCAA rules.
