I know. I get that part of it. But LSU was just a sinking ship. Its still early, the rankings will work themselves out. I just don't believe in them at all.

From what I saw this weekend,(Not much since I didn't have a TV) the BIG12 looks like shit. I mean 2 teams from the outside come in and stat to dominate? WTF is that about? Then you have MU sucking it up all over the place. Franklin needs to go and Yost needs to be fired. Seriously MU was better last year. What is going on down there in Columbia?

TCU was over ranked. ISU is under ranked.

OU beating Tech is no surprise.

Not sure how the Big 12 looks like shit. If you think that, I think you are being mislead. If anyone in the big 12 makes it out with two losses or less, then I will be surprised. The big 12 is pretty stacked this year and they are going to pound on each other pretty good - which may mean it won't be as pretty in the polls later, but IMO, there are more good teams in the big 12, than any other conference when you look at them as a whole. They have 6 teams ranked and 3 others getting votes.

TCU has been struggling all year. Losing their starting QB made it even worse.

I only say this because 2 teams come in to the BIG12 and win. Look at the WVU and Texas game. I can't believe Texas let WVU beat them. Doesn't look good IMO.

Win? TCU lost

Texas isn't that good anyways. I'm surprised they held on that well.

Texas has been less than great in recent history. They are just now starting to get to a level where they can compete with the big boys again. WVU has a very...very impressive offense, but that is all they have. If someone can lay some hits on GS and/or get a few stops (or he has an off game) then I think they could be beat without too much trouble. They have not shown that they can play defense at all. It is going to take a slow, efficient game to do that. Will anyone be able to? I don't know.

As for TCU coming in and winning. I think they showed their true colors already.

I don't know why victories by TCU or WVU would be surprising. We knew they were good coming in. That was the point. You don't bring in crap teams just to take up conference money.

Well well well. New rankings are out, and looking quite a bit better for the NON-SEC teams out there, and a bit more closely to the computer rankings, finally. BAMA at 1, Oregon at 2.

I think SC at 3 is a bit much, I mean, the only ranked team they played was Georgia, and after that game they deemed Georgia was really only a #14 opponent, meanwhile Florida beat still higher ranked LSU as well as Tennessee, yet sits at 4. WVU and Kstate at 5 and 6, and with these two teams going head to head in two weeks, only one will get to keep a top 3 rank. ND at 7 for some reason even with their schedule so far, OSU, LSU and Oregon State.

I agree with the top ten, just not the order. I would say 1) Bama, 2) Oregon State, 3) Florida, 4) WVU, 5) ND, 6) SC, 7) K state, Oregon State, 9) Ohio State, 10) LSU (out of the one lossers, LSU leads the pack, but I would put money that Florida state ends the year ranked higher than LSU). Let's see how well my rank holds up next week.

So is Florida at 4 until they prove themselves a lot more. They made a huge jump for beating such a marginal opponent. I venture to say at this point in the season, LSU would be somewhere between 4th and 5th in the big 12 on a good week.

you're on crack. TCU lost to they Cyclones at home. They barely beat a horrible KU team. They have a long season ahead.

Texas had an overrated defense and WVU has the best QB in college football. Until you can pressure him with 4-5 people and keep pressure on him, he's going to burn you. As soon as you don't pressure him, he's going to burn you. Dude is as legit as they come this year. I have WVU winning the Big 12, had them winning it before the season starts. IMO, OU is the only team that has the fire power to keep up and enough of a defense to stop them a few times. But OU still has Stoops so I don't see that happening.

they have benefited from beating teams that were overrated. They will get sorted out as the season goes on. If they deserve to be there, they will stay there. Otherwise they will fall off.

Injuries galore. Several starting OL injured (one off and on and ineffective). Starting QB has been injured and ineffective and the backup hasn't been getting the practice reps he needs because they have been trying to play Franklin when he isn't healthy (except for Arizona State and that was a gametime decision). One of their best linebackers has been hampered by injuries also. Best RB has been out all year (and will be out rest of the year) and their 2nd string guy (that has also returned 3 punts for touchdowns) was lost early in the 1st quarter against Vanderbilt. He will be back for next game.

Every team has to deal with injuries, but at some point it just gets ridiculous. MU is at that point. I'd also say stubbornness is contributing because they have been playing Mitch Morse at center even though his snapping is awful and Brad McNulty has been snapping better.

TBH, I thought MU had the easiest schedule that I have seen in YEARS. I thought they would get out of this season with 3-4 losses and be able to say "I told you were are good, we did better in a better conference". I will say that them losing and almost losing has surprised me quite a bit.

I am curious to see if Bama puts the heat on and says "bwahahaha, welcome to the SEC, you shoulda stayed put" or if they pull their starters in the 2nd quarter.

I wouldn't say that the SEC is a better conference this year. I think Alabama is the best team right now, but as a whole, I think there is room for an argument.

I was talking as an MU fan (not specifically Ryan D). That's all big 12 fans heard since MU decided to go down there "we are going to a better conference"

Top to bottom, I'd put the big 12 as the dominant conference.

OU, Texas, WVU, Iowa State, K State

Texas Tech could beat some good teams, TCU lost their most important player but they could have possibly been decent. Oklahoma State, while not the best team this year, they are young and could score 60 points at any given time. Baylor is someone that could put up 60 as well.

Honestly KU is the only team in the Big 12 that would get rolled on by opponents. Which is unfortunate.

Agreed. And as much as I dislike the Jayhawks, it would be nice if the entire conference was fairly strong (and could win enough to make it to bowl games).

well, the problem with that would be that they all play each other. Which means only some of them are going to have enough wins to be bowl bound or you'll have a bunch of teams with 5 losses.

Kind of a pick your poison kind of situation.

Yeah, but one bad team is only one bad team. I still think that the big 12 is pretty stout. It will be interesting to see how it pans out during bowl season.

Yeah, top to bottom I would put the Big 12 as #1, SEC #2, Pac 12 #3 and the Big 10 #4.

Don't want to see WVU come in and win the big 12 but I would like to see WVU vs. Alabama.

That would definitely be two different styles of play. If someone can slow WVU down and make some stops, I think they would be easy to beat. They can't play a lick of defense.

I do not have my hopes up when KSU plays them in two weeks, but I think honestly believe that they have as good of a shot or better, than anyone else in the conference. For KSU to be successful, WVU will have to make some mistakes, but WVU can't score 70 points if they don't have the ball 10 times. I imagine KSU will grind out a power running game and hope for an error or stop on ol' Geno. That said, KSU's secondary is not great, so getting a stop won't be easy.

I would be surprised if they didn't. It may be someone that nobody expects (Iowa State?). Rarely can team be 100% on all year long. Even less so when your are only REALLY good on offense.

LOL. I don't think the Big 12 has much of an argument.
