Default Return of the TrailBlazer

Chevrolet confirms new Colorado-based TrailBlazer [UPDATE]

We're in the heart of General Motors' downtown Detroit headquarters for a press conference tied to the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet, and Chris Perry, the brand's Vice President of Global Marketing and Strategy, has just confirmed a new TrailBlazer SUV. To be based on the company's new global mid-size Colorado pickup, the vehicle will be unveiled November 10 at the Dubai Motor Show.

Chevrolet officials have not yet offered word on where this vehicle will be built or in which markets it will be available, but given that the Colorado has recently been confirmed for the U.S., we wouldn't be surprised to see a new TrailBlazer once again plying America's roads.

Earlier this year, we received spy photos and a video of a new mid-size General Motors SUV testing near the automaker's headquarters, meaning development of the Colorado-based TrailBlazer could already be well under way.

More details as they become available.

UPDATE: General Motors has released an official teaser image (above) as well as a press release, available after the jump. The automaker confirms that the 2013 TrailBlazer will first go on sale in Thailand beginning in early 2012. Related GalleryChevrolet Colorado-based SUV: Spy Shots

2013 Chevrolet TrailBlazer not coming to the U.S.

Yesterday, Chevrolet announced that an all-new TrailBlazer (previewed by the above teaser image) will debut later this year, set to go on sale around the world starting in early 2012. Now, Inside Line reports that company spokespeople have said that there are no immediate plans to sell the new TrailBlazer SUV here in the United States.

The new TrailBlazer, confirmed as a 2013 model, will be a traditional body-on-frame SUV based on the new Chevrolet Colorado mid-size pickup truck. General Motors has confirmed that the new Colorado will be sold here in the U.S.

Even so, we won't be shocked if GM does decide to bring the TrailBlazer to the U.S. in a few years. For now, however, the new SUV will be built and sold in South America and Asia, with Thailand slated to get the first vehicles.

I hope they make another SS model. I don't see why not since the new jeep srt8 is on the way, or here for all I know.

New global Trailblazer truck-based SUV debuts in Dubai

Gallery (4 images) Next

About a month ago Leftlane brought you a teaser image for the upcoming global SUV that is to be built upon the next-gen Colorado and sold in markets outside the U.S. – but today we have much more revealing images to share.

Because the Trailblazer Concept is intended (at least for now) to be a global SUV not destined for U.S. soil, General Motors has chosen the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show to reveal this all-new SUV that is built on the same platform as the upcoming Colorado midsize pickup.
Far more revealing than the teaser image GM released a month ago, these new official images show a slightly more compact, yet simultaneously more rugged SUV than the closest Chevy currently on offer in the U.S. Unlike the Traverse or Equinox, which are actually crossovers, the Trailblazer rides on a body-on-frame platform, meaning that in theory it fills a different role than any existing vehicle in GM’s current U.S. lineup.
The images we have now show a “concept” that is clearly very close to production form, aside of course from the expected toning down of the more dramatic styling cues found in the front and rear fascias. Expect the overall style and shape to remain, although it may end up more closely resembling its platform-mate Colorado when it is all said and done.
GM has yet to reveal full details on this SUV, but expect the mechanicals to be shared with the Colorado, as well as most markets – with the U.S. being the only known major exception at this time.
The 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer will start selling in global markets, beginning in Thailand, in early 2012.

Production 2013 Chevrolet TrailBlazer debuts, "no plans" for U.S. version

We saw the 2013 Chevrolet TrailBlazer last fall as a near-production concept, but today we get the real thing – in pixelated, jpeg form, that is. Indeed, this is about as close as U.S. buyers will probably get to the new Trailblazer. While we weren't expecting General Motors to change its tune about bringing the diesel-powered, seven-seat SUV stateside, we called and asked anyway. Chevrolet spokesman Tom Wilkinson told us, "There are currently no plans to bring that vehicle to the U.S."

While the good-looking TrailBlazer would certainly look right at home sitting next to the 2013 Malibu on dealer lots, Chevy already has a three-row utility vehicle in the Traverse. Buyers in Thailand, where the vehicle debuted ahead of the Bangkok International Motor Show, are more apt to need a real body-on-frame SUV like the TrailBlazer. And U.S. buyers looking for a three-row truck can still roll in a Tahoe. Either way, The General has to figure it doesn't really want another burly three-row utility vehicle sitting on its CAFE ledger.

Still, there's much to like about the 2013 TrailBlazer, especially underhood. GM is offering two turbo-diesel four-cylinders in 2.5- and 2.8-liter displacements. The smaller engine is rated at 150 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, while the extra displacement bumps horsepower to 180 and torque to a particularly impressive 346 lb-ft. A five-speed manual and six-speed automatic will be offered. GM says the engines are designed to last for 240,000 kilometers – nearly 150,000 miles.

The TrailBlazer will hit dealers in Thailand in June, with much of the rest of the world – minus the U.S. – to follow. Don't thing this is some stripped out truck for developing economies though, as the TrailBlazer is sporting a pretty long list of standard features, including lots of safety equipment – stability control, ABS, traction control, electronic brake-force distribution, and hill descent control – that we take for granted here.

I'm hoping they mean 150k without major maintenance.

Chevrolet Trailblazer could be offered in the U.S. - report

2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer 21.3.2012

Might be launched next year

According to a recent report, Chevrolet could offer the Trailblazer in the United States.
Nothing is official but an industry source told Edmunds that Chevrolet intends to launch the model sometime next year. However, Chevrolet spokesman Mike Albano dismissed the idea and said the company is happy with sales of the Equinox, Traverse and Tahoe / Suburban.
While traditional body-on-frame SUVs have fallen out of favor with most Americans, they still appeal to customers who tow and go off-roading. Toyota recently acknowledged this small but important market by confirming plans to keep body-on-frame SUVs in their lineup.
Little is known about a potential US-spec Trailblazer, but it is based on the Chevrolet Colorado so engine options would likely be shared with the upcoming American variant.

Chevrolet TrailBlazer gets rendered in U.S. guise

Chevrolet TrailBlazer US-spec rendering 11.12.2013 / theophiluschin.com

Should it come to America?

Chevrolet recently introduced the 2015 Colorado at the Los Angeles Auto Show, so Theophilus Chin has decided to create a rendering of what a US-spec TrailBlazer could look like.
Heavily influenced by the aforementioned pickup, the TrailBlazer has been equipped with a new front fascia that has a prominent grille that is flanked by distinctive headlights. We can also see a familiar rear end and restyled fog lights.
Chevrolet has downplayed the possibility of the TrailBlazer being offered in the United States but previous reports have indicated the company is considering the possibility. If the model is green-lighted, it could arrive as early as next year and feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 193 bhp (144 kW) and a 3.6-liter V6 with 302 bhp (225 kW).

Chevy Colorado Xtreme, Trailblazer Premier concepts revealed [54 pics]

Chevrolet has introduced today at the 2016 Bangkok Motor Show the Colorado Xtreme and Trailblazer Premier concepts which serve as a preview for an updated design language.
First up, the Colorado Xtreme comes in a Furnace bespoke matte paint scheme and has received a custom front safari bar with a built-in LED bar and a winch. Chevy says it can tackle just about any type of road out there and to do that it comes with 18-inch wheels shod in all-terrain tires with custom bead locks.
Beefy fender flares make the concept stand out even more and there’s also a rear step with an integrated corner step and a tow bar. The changes don’t end here as the Colorado Xtreme also benefits from a vented hood, raised suspension, and a unique snorkel. Up top on the roof is an integrated LED light bar necessary for those night adventures on bumpy and dark roads.
The interior is home to the newest MyLink infotainment system with an eight-inch touchscreen display and you will also find leather/fabric seats along with a roll bar. There’s even an emergency retrieval kit in case something goes wrong.
As for the Trailblazer Premier, it targets “families that love to escape the beaten path but in the comfort of luxurious sophistication.” It takes a softer approach compared to the Colorado Xtreme and is finished in a Velocity paint created specifically for this concept. It sits on massive 22-inch wheels and has received a custom rear spoiler together with a rear fascia protector.
The concept benefits from a built-in side step with chrome accents while the interior has the same 8-inch setup along with leather seats benefitting from handmade netting. Chevy has added wooden door appliques with steel inserts, two-tone instrument panel inserts, more chrome details, and special floor mats.
These two concepts are currently being showcased at the Bangkok Motor Show alongside the 2016 Captiva for the local market and a Trailblazer Urban Pack II special edition.

It's about time GM has considered a Grand Cherokee / Explorer / Durango competitor but damn, that's not attractive at all especially the ass end.

Competitor in what way?
They already make the middle sized Equinox, terrain, SRX (recently replaced with new Cadillac suv).

The Chevy trax and Buick Encore as sub compact suv's.

The enclave, traverse as 3 row and the recently shrunk Acadia.

As well as the Tahoe, suburban, Yukon, Yukon xl, escalade

Spied: 2018 Chevrolet Blazer

Gallery (7 images) Next

Prev

Chevrolet engineers have been spotted testing a new crossover that could revive the Blazer name.

Prototypes like the one spotted today have actually been seen testing since February of this year, but those early rigs were covered in heavy camouflage that masked the vehicle's true identity; it was initially thought that this CUV was actually a prototype for the next-generation Chevy Traverse.

However, now running with some of its production-intent bodywork exposed, it's clear the CUV in question is significantly shorter than today's Traverse, leading to speculation that this is actually Chevy's upcoming mid-size utility vehicle.

In the pipeline for the last couple of years, Chevy's mid-size CUV will slot between the Equinox and the larger Traverse. In fact, the pending launch of the mid-size CUV was one of the main reasons Chevy downsized its latest Equinox model.

Rumored to be called Blazer, the Chevrolet crossover will be largely based on the latest GMC Acadia. A comparison picture between the prototype and the Acadia is included in our gallery. The next Traverse, meanwhile, will essentially be a stretched version of the Blazer.

Powertrains for the Blazer could include four- and six-cylinder engines from the Acadia. It remains unknown if the Blazer will be strictly a two-row or offer a third-row of seats like the Acadia.

The Chevrolet Blazer could debut sometime next year as a 2018 model
